  3. well it went quite well, weve played better but the crowd enjoyed it, even the 8 million midges hung around for our set! i now think ive got fleas!
  4. Ooer ive never played in front of a large crowd before and im playing at Hawes Big Bash tonight and the weather is glorious so im thinking its going to be busy, im getting just a tad nervous about this one especially as weve added a few new songs to the set list that we only rehearsed this week, the only bonus is the song i sing has been removed for the night, we got the plum second off last spot as well
  5. Ok, heres the latest, KiOgons lovely wiring harness arrived this week as did a Hipshot bridge, the pup, a jack socket cup and a tin of blue stain i`ll have to get in touch with Bassdoc and see if he can route my pickup hole bigger or attempt it myself with hammer and chisel and i really dont want to have to do that as for the stain, would using a sponge be better than using a brush? 6. ive got Wizard `84`s in my Jazz and im seriously underwhelmed (is that a word?
  7. i was going to get one!
  8. If you dont need the money i would say no.
  9. Whats your budget?
  10. my Paulownia Jazz weighed in at less than 8lbs when i weighed it before putting the mm pickup on it
  11. looks im alone in thinking SSS is crap jeez its heartbraking to know how poor he is and gets paid for it,
  12. Cheers Shaggy I was kind of GAS free.................
  13. latest update, wiring harness from KiOgon in the pipeline, pup has arrived and blue stain ordered, jack socket plate ordered, control plate ordered, rear ferrules bought but sent neck washers! (thanks CHGuitars!) I need advice on staining and finishing, i have some grain filler, do i need it if its just a stained and lacquered? i must get in touch with Howard regarding my routing and scratchplate.

  15. i was expecting to see a les paul with a huge pickup route with a single coil tele pickup in the hole, tilted at a jaunty 15 degrees to maximise the frequency modulation of the wound bass strings and the plain treble strings to within a gnats chuff of perfection with a microbes relief thus enabling soft fingers to chime out barre chords and make finger picking a real joy especially to those poor unfortunates with sausage fingers.
  16. I oiled and waxed my original build and ive still got some left over so i think that might be the route to im going to take cos i do like the look of natural wood, not made a decision on the plate yet but i might go for a plain one ply black one.
  17. Ah the bloke, ill drop him a pm, cheers for that.
  18. is that a switch in the top right of the recess? it looks like all or most of the wires have been cut off it? it might sound daft but the neck pickup hasnt been wired so its active all the time and the bridge pup wired passive hence the huge difference in volume?
  19. im going to continue a theme here WOW! i love that dark plum Spector, what a gorgeous colour.
  20. story so far, body has arrived and the neck fits but like another p build the neck pocket seems a tad shallow, i might have a word with bassdoc and see if he can rout me it a touch deeper and also rout the pickup cavity bigger for the pup ive just bought, i was thinking about one of the `51 re-issue bridges with only through body stringing but i use flats and that could be a problem although any advice on that will be gratefully accepted. Ive gone with the mm style pup and will probably go for a stacked volume pot for both coils. Who is the basschatter that makes the wiring harnesses? anyway here is what it looks like at the moment the neck isnt attached.
