1. Just seen this on the bay, wow! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Custom-Shop-Master-Built-Tye-Zamora-6-String-Fretless-Bass-Alien-Ant-Farm-/251241315215?pt=Guitar&hash=item3a7f263b8f
2. I had a Westfield T/bird and i thought it sounded great but i wasnt a big fan of the neck it was too sticky with sweaty hands apart from that and the balance problem which was cured with a suade strap it was a really nice bass.
3. jaw droppingly gorgeous
4. I nearly bought one of these so i would be interested in the outcome
5.
Frank Turner - You ever have that moment where a songwriter's lyrics just perfectly connect to you and you think they're singing about you? I have that with Frank, I swear his album Love, Ire And Song could've been written about me; couple that with great songwriting and you have a winner. If the boy were to lead a revolution I'd join.
the first time i heard the Long Live the Queen track and heard the story behind it it brought a tear to my eye, very moving song from a superb album! if i was to say who has inspired me it would have to be Greame Obree, non musical i know but he was a man who let nothing get in his way to unconventionally get to the very top and who has had to fight his demons every step of the way.
6. I dealt with a guy called John Doughty, ive got Roto flats on 3 of my 5 basses now and when the others need restringing they will be getting the same, that kind of customer service cant be bought (i like the strings anyway!)
7. I bought a set of flat wound Rotosounds a couple of weeks back and unfortunately the E string had what was described as a `loose cover` and rattled. I contacted Rotosound with the intention of buying a replacement string however I recieved a reply apologising for the string and asking for my address to send a free replacement to, great i thought thats good of them. On monday the string duly arrived and it had brought four of its friends along for the ride, so instead of just sending me a replacement for the defective one i had a brand new set and a replacement, to me thats top marks for customer service.
8. if you could post it ill have it
9. Superb! to be sharing the same stage as Jim Rosenthal and all for a great cause. Chapeau!
10. Sold a couple of pedals to Bryan, instant payment and good comms along the way, spot on!
11. thats a seriously nice colour!
12. A Washburn Taurus can be had for very little money, ive owned 2 Peavey milleniums and they would make a good beginner bass and i would think you could get one for a lot less than £200
13. this funnily enough is me.
14. I could go for the rotary switch that sounds like a plan if i could work out how to wire it and which one to get i have a jazz pup i could pop in the neck position as i have a spare but unfortunately i dont have the tools to either chop up the scratchplate cleanly enough or route out the pickup cavity and as its limited by budget constraints i cant justify sending it to a luthier to do the work for me
15. even the review of the Aphex Aural Exciter was flawed when it said it was made in Canada then in the write up said `this pedal from the US` simple little mistakes are as bad as duplicating complete reviews and missing out paragraphs, it simply shouldnt happen in this day and age with a mag that costs £4.35 there are less mistakes in the Big Issue!
16. pity its going to go to waste then
17. There was a competition recently on Real Radio XS to win recording time at Castle Rock Studios in Alderley Edge unfortunately i didnt win first prize but i did win a free 3hour rehearsal session in said studios worth £40 now as im north east based my band arent interested in going just to rehearse but fortunately the prize is fully transferable if anyone could make use of this offer could you pm me and ill forward the details, obviously first come gets it. Im gutted not to be able to go but if someone could make use of it then its not going to waste. Cheers Jeff
18. Another welcome from a fellow North Eastener
19. My old Peavey Millenium had the thinnest neck ive ever played
20. Ive never liked them and I think theyre overrated as well, same as i cant stand Elvis, we are all different and allowed our own opinions.
21. There are some cracking bargains to be had in the classifieds, ive bought a pair of wizards and a pair of usa vintage reissues for around the £40 mark id keep an eye out on there
22. Just ordered a ceramic magnet pup to try
23. i think ive just built up my cheeky bass, cost me nowt as i had the bits already and it plays great
24. it now has 2 volume knobs ive wired both coils to different pots as it seems to make more sense than 2 tone controls one of which didnt influence the sound one jot! i know the coils are next to each other but at least the middle knob now has a job
