  1. I've no idea to be honest. I was going into the studio and decided to check the electronics under the scratchplate. The pots weren't soldered very well (if at all) so I just replaced them and kept the ceramic capacitor. I threw them out, whatever they were. No one wanted P basses back then (1990). In hindsight, obviously, I would have kept them. (I'm sure they were knackered though, I don't often throw things out)
  2. I have my eye on one of these atm. Once my Brian May is paid for (interest free over 9 months, bought last july) I may jut pull the trigger with another interest free purchase
  3. those pots look like the ones on my '73, which I replaced in 1991 with ESP parts
  4. Ozzy at The Leas Cliffe hall, circa 1988/89. Zak Wilde on guitar. It was too loud, even in the bar. Shame really as I was interested in seeing Zak play
  5. good thread this I was at Reading in 83. Sabbath with Gillan and Bev Bevan filling in on drums. I was back t the camp site when I heard smoke on the water. I'll leave it there Van Halen, Wembley about 1992 ish. Sammy Hagar on vocals. Terrible sound where we were, so we left Ozzy at Folkestone Leas Cliffe Hall about 10 years ago, Gus G on guitar. Dull Joe Bonamssa, Folkestone. Dull Dr and the medics, Folkestone. Number 1 at the time. Dreadful Iron Maiden, Brixton academy, maybe 15-20 years ago. Loved Maiden growing up, just found it boring
  6. lovely, I want
  7. Does anyone remember this programme. They were trying to write the UK entry, IIRC the year after Katrina & the Waves won it. The song they wrote was called 'More than enough for one life' It was demoed by Katrina herself but actually sung by a bloke I asked Katrina about it, when I saw her play locally, a couple of years ago. She said she just didn't remember it, which surprised me
  8. that's great info Don, thanks mart
  9. Don, are these la bellas long enough to be strung through the body. I have them on my Hofner and like them a lot thanks Mart
  10. that was fun, 've always wanted to learn that run, it's interesting. Flattened third, major 6th and flattened 7th (have I written that correctly?)
  11. it's funny isn't it. There was a time you couldn't give these away. They are really great instruments, perhaps it's time for me to find one
  12. Fender website says, Made in Japan and U plus 6 digits is 2010-11 Looks lush though, I'm hankering after a Mustang atm
  13. isn't that John Sykes in the video?
  14. ah ok, I have seen contoured Mustangs and didn't know that was a 70s thing. I'm quite liking the look and what I've heard of the JMJ. It could be a possibility
  15. I'm 5ft 11. My hofner violin bass looks fine. maybe a short scale P bass? One of the problem I have is shoulder pain. Just standing with my bass and playing it, open's both my shoulders and gives me pain. I've really noticed it since lockdown1, when I stopped playing at all, for 3 months
  16. mine was late 70s and black, r/w board. I would like another like that, if I could find one for reasonable money
  17. yeah agreed, I woudn't buy an old guitar blind. I did do a blind trade on here last march, my XL-2 for a 1980 P Bass special but that turned great. I like the idea of an older one because they were contoured. I used to have a Musicmaster bass when I was about 16 and I remember it being quite good. I played another musicmaster a couple of years ago and it was very good. Great neck
  18. I'm really interested. Are they much better than the modern ones, in the way that old Fenders can be. My mrs had a made/crafted in Japan one. She used it on one gig and didn't like it, so sold it. I never got to try it live but I thought it sounded great on the gig. Your thoughts BC collective
  19. they were fab times, hopefully they'll come back
  20. I've used sm58s since the late 80s, then moved onto beta58s. last year I went sennheiser 945 wireless. I love it that is all😁
  21. crikey, Hope n Glory, originals, rock won the battle of the bands at the Southern Belle about 1989/90 Then a band called Scandal, classic rock and a bit of glam. Lasted till late 96. Played the Woodlands Tavern quite a lot After the Woodlands closed I didn't venture up there much more
  22. Gillingham, Southern Belle and Woodlands tavern. Played these places a lot, always good gigs? I cant say I remember your band but we probably crossed paths at some point
