What signature model bass would you say transcends the artist?
police squad replied to kwmlondon's topic in Bass Guitars
I had one of those too actually. It was bl00dy nice. Massive neck and it really purred. It was ash bodied (strange as Sting's 57 is alder) and had a really smooth sound. I wish I'd kept it -

+1 for the JMJ Mustang. No real idea about JMJ himself but the bass is awesome -
ooh nice. I was thinking about changing the tuners on my HB PB-50. They feel like they might break, they hold tune well enough but feel cheap. I must measure the holes

I have the JTV59, les paul shaped one. A great gigging tool when I needed all those different sounds and the acoustic sounds. It made one less guitar on the smaller gigs. I got a power supply A/B TRS box, which meant I never needed to charge the battery. Nicely made too. Good score TZ

agreed, it's also medium scale, I think long scale would be too much for me now, especially with a larger hollow body too

yes the one i bid on went for £735. Quite a good price I think. I', sure another will come along

outbid in ebay with a minute to go oh well

Thanks for the info, I will have a dig about for one and see what happens. I used to have a White Falcon guitar, always a cool thing, to have a Gretsch I shall have a dig about about

I had a Police tribute gig in Chatham, Kent. To load in you either used to bus lane and get fined, or as the precinct was dug up and you couldnt access it, a long walk with the gear. We spoke to the promoter for about an hour, then called it and went home. I'm at the point in my life where I dont need the hassle, I've been gigging the local Kent scene since 1987 and now I do i for fun

ok first gig done and it was awesome. crystal clear sound, no drop out. I like the meter on the front, shows the level of the input. No distortion here, superb -

Changing channels seems fairly easy too -

yes exactly that. I have cobbled together an unbalnced lead set up and apart from some back ground, it sounds just as good as plugging direct into the desk with headphones. Its quite intuitive too. I have found in the menu how to switch to mono, so I could have just one stereo side going to both ears (sounds horrible as my backinh tracks aree stereo) I'll get a TRS to dual XLR from our man on here Chienmortbb -

so I've got it home but I dont think I have the correct leads to connect it. It seems to be stereo input. Left xlr and right xlr and at the moment I come out of the headphone output on my desk and have the 'outfront sound' I'll need a special lead, unless it gives stereo on the left hand input, I need to get my desk out to try it I find this kind of gear a bit daunting at first. But it does seem nice and solid, which is a great start -

Having used a very cheap Lekato 2.4 wireless, which dropped out a little the last gig I did, I have now plumped for the MIPRO MI58 set up I've read some really good reviews and I'm hoping it will serve me well. I'm not going to be using it at festivals, just my pub gigs -

they look great -
I saw Kip Winger using one when they supporting the Scorpians about 1991/2. it seemed to work well

i used one in the early 90s for a while. It was great. would I use one again? Not sure, although I noticed Sting was using one in the vegas shows
