  1. amazing but too rich for me atm thanks for the info
  2. I've just found this thread, as I was looking into whether Ashdown did a pedal like this (as my Police Tribute has gone completely IEM) Bax shop had one left in stock at £239 so I bought it. It's a while till our next gig but I'll take it along (with my bass gear, Just in case) and will try it live
  3. I think I've worked it out I played the hofner yesterday at a gig, with zero problems. I think the last time I used it, I just wasn't playing much bass and my fingers probably weren't up to it
  4. Did a dep gig yesterday with my Police tribute guys (their normal pub band) I decided to use my Ltd Edition Hofner 500/1 union Jack bass. The whole band have just gone IEM and my bass sounded unbelievable in my ears. Great gig, we wheeled out lots of Beatles songs, some Small Faces, The Who, The Jam, The Police, Oasis IEM have totally changed gigging for me
  5. I sold it to @BMBR 6 months later. I wished I hadn't now but we all know how it is Hope you're well @NancyJohnson
  6. red nose day, it would have been dead. Stupidly I didnt check their FB page (which I usually do), they were very surprised. It was a duo gig, keys was half way there, so I phoned him and he turned round and went home Still, will give us a laugh tonight
  7. my gig last night is actually tonight. Turned up a day early, this is the first time I've ever done this in 38 years of gigging. Luckily the gig was very local to me, 5 minutes in the car DOH!!
  8. I'm just under 6 foot and I think it looks cool
  9. I dont notice any neck dive on either my Hofner or JMJ mustang. I still play the long scale basses (namely in my Police tribute) but prefer the shorties now. Taking the Hofner out on Sunday
  10. sad news, Nick was a great bloke My condolances to his family RIP
  11. weird isnt it. Thinking about it, my p bass is detuned half a step, maybe I should return to pitch and see how it feels.
  12. Labellas on the hofner and fender flats on the mustang
  13. I really don't know, I have so little experience with flats. I've always gigged with rounds and never had a problem
  14. Agreed but when I play with my thumb (like Sting) the La Bellas really do dig in more. I play both basses very similarly. The tension on the Mustang flats is a lot less but when I play the same string on one of my P bass, again no problem. I have my hofner tuned half a step down for this weekends gig, but still I feel it's going to be a bit sore
  15. Probably been asked before but my Hofner violin bass wears La Bella deep talking flats .50 to .100 gauge When I play with my fingers, it makes them sore, yet my Fender flats on my JMJ and one of my P basses don't get this reaction. Why does it happen and if I put La Bellas on my JMJ will I have the same problem TIA
  16. Agreed about compression. I dont really understand it but some kind of compression on the aux outs to limit any spikes, as was put somewhere in the IEM thread. I'll have a look on Friday at my next gig, to see what I have set up.
  17. DON'T SELL THE '71 you'll regret it mate. Just keep playing it. I recently bought a Harley Benton PB-50. After a set up and rolling the fingerboard edges (I did this myself) it is a superb bass and cost £104.00. Great for dragging about when you dont want to use something expensive. I use it in my Police tribute band but I will also be using for a normal pub gig this weekend
  18. no, it's painted I think, then laquered . I had one, lovely lovely bass, just too heavy for me and someone did say to me about drunk idiots that hate West Ham, would they start on you at a gig? I didn';t have any trouble at the 3 gigs I used it at. It's was too dang heavy and had to go
  19. what did you make the template out of?
  20. I use 3 different A&H desks, all analogue. I have a really good set up on one of the desks and we sometimes vary the delay length, using the 'tap' button, it gets the delay in time with the song I started with a preset and then fiddled with the available parameters. I really like how my most used desk sounds and need to see what I've done and copy it to the other desks. If I was to go digital, I would probably try and set it up similar to my main desk. I don't seem to hear any need to change anything from venue to venue but with the digital desk you could probably set each singer up with what they want to hear, in the monitors or not. With my A&H desks it's everyone gets the FX or no one.
  21. great score. I have 3 vintage 6 strings and they are all super instruments. One day I'll pick up a V4 I'm sure
  22. @BillBdid you ever manage to make the template?
  23. crikey, that's a lot of ' a lot of different guitars' I haven't used mine for some years now but I keep it for the next time I'm going to need a mulitude of guitars for one gig.
