Hi steve I bought the gramma while i was working on the cruise ships, i was playing through an ashdown 2x10 combo but the band was put in a kind of wooden box of a room, and i had no end of problems with acoustic coupling (when a cab is on a floor it connects with it producing a lot of low end, which im sure you know) the bass just sounded really boomy(not helped by the ashdown) and i found it hard to control, i even cut a lot of the bass on the EQ but it was unbearable, i saw an advert for these in bass player a while ago and managed to find a british company on Ebay that sold them it was about £70 they are much cheaper now though, and i must admit i was sceptical but a bit desperate to solve this problem so i bought one and it was fantastic it tightened the sound up no end, for years when i worked the holiday camps and toured in caberet shows i used to nick beer crates or bose 802 covers, anything i could get my hands on so my rig didnt touch the floor as if i want loads of bass i want to add it with eq and be able to control it, not have a boomey sound i cant control, as the advertising garb for the gramma states its a tweak for the room not your rig!! and its really true, it just takes a bit of crap out of your way, one of the best sounds i ever had was at an army base gig in edinborough where the stage was thickly carpeted and id just bought a hartke rig with my student loan and it was so clean and tight and i always atributed that to the room which the whole band agreed sounded fantastic using this replicated that! so anyway too my point i love it and will always use it as i like to take anything that could ruin my tone out of the equation and i find (IMHO) it works really well, but dont get me wrong i have used it in some rooms and nothing can help but most of the gigs i do now are small theatre gigs in pits so ive had no bother. [attachment=7316:P3290045.JPG][attachment=7317:P3290046.JPG] Hi everyone, time to show you mine!!!(2xaccugroove tri110's &Ebs td650 head) This is my latest rig and im loving it!!!, over the years ive used carlsboro, marshall,fender, trace elliot, hartke, swr, ashdown, Ebs,in every speaker combination(mostly 4x10 &1x15 setups) and this is the first rig i can manage by myself up a fight of stairs ( even though the accugrooves are big for 1x10 cabs) they are really light and sound fantastic, i was going to sell the EBS td650 to buy a markbass f1 or something but i love the sound so much i put up with the fact its built like a tank( and weighs about the same) so finally a happy bunny. mind you the Td has room for another 4ohms, so i thought an EBS neo 1x15 or get another two accugroove tri 110's to make the biggest 4x10 ever (always been fond of that setup) imagine that it;ll be 4x10, 4x6 & 8 soft dome tweeters, that'll make the horn players cringe when i turn up at the theatre pits ha ha!!!. No need to do that at the mo very happy(for a change) with what ive got, no pics of the pedalboard as yet but ill sort it. Keep groovin my brothers- all the best-LEE

Hi steve sorry for the late reply, just noticed your reply to my thread (sorry) thanks mate im very lucky ive been collecting gear for a long time and wish i was happy, but unlike a lot of GAS heads on here im never satisfied in answer to your question i did the mods on my squire a while ago when i was in my early twenties, because i thought it woould make me sound like marcus miller, couldnt be more wrong ha ha!!, im currently thinking of putting nordstrands in to et more of its old tone back, mind you the EMG jv's are great but very midrangey and it didnt slap as well after i put them in( Not that its's a priority now) they would be fantastic for a fretless jazz though, the EMG circuit i thought was a waste of money doesnt add anything to the sound at all, am thinking of getting a j retro deluxe so i can have the proper passive sound and an active one. I love thw badass bridge though and will add one to any fender i get in the future, i am after a precision next after 18 years of playing ive never owned one. I note youve got the marcus miller, im really surprised ive never bought one of those, as i adore him. Keep in touch mate nice talking to you- LEE Alright there Lee, Some nice gear you've got there. Hi guys Me again, the wav does have a foldable stand but its generaly considered to be a really weak link, so upgrading to a CR stand would be sensible , i was really lucky in that mine came with a CR series stand but that isnt the norm, i do fancy gettin the endpin stand which i think is about £150 as i cant stand up in theatre pits, much prefer to stand with it though, one thing about the WAV to consider is that it is a piezo pickup so the input impedance is very high and a lot of amp inputs have low impedance for magnetic pickups ( has to be at least 1 mohm) otherwise it rolls of all the low end, and the WAV IS very bright sounding anyway so a preamp isrecomended, i bought ans EBS microbass 2 as the A input is designed for high impedance and i can switch between the WAV and my warwicks, and t then gives it a 2 band eq which dramitically improved the sound, a friend of mine has an Aria and i also tried one before getting the WAV and ididnt like it, (it does sound nice though) just a very big neck (ive got small hands ) but i did prefer the tone of the WAV . Hope this helps John i must sayplaying an upright is a nice change its got me back into playing again, after 15 years of playing professionally i was treating the bass as a work tool, which is not why i got into bass in the first place. Hope everyones cool- take care- LEE That has its advantages and disadvantages. My first EUB was a BSX, the predecessor to the Flip range as far as I can tell - 34" scale and tripod stand. From that, I went to a Palatino VE-500 which has an endpin. It was rather heavy though, and the end pin was a bit of an inconvenience as with the overs band I only played it for a few numbers and with the barn dance band there's gaps between the dances while the future Mrs Zero shouts at the putative dancers to bend them to her will, which all meant that a stand would be more convenient. I now have an NS WAV-4 which I like - I briefly had an overlap of instruments so I was able to compare the necks of the WAV-4 and the VE-500 and although they're noticably different, I didn't have a preference for one over the other (I'm very inexperienced on EUB which may be one reason for that). I would actually like the NS end-pin and stand, but I think it needs the CR tripod, and the total cost of doing it is around £350. [/quote]

Hi John Hows it goin mate I bought an NS WAV eub last year and i absolutely love it, i got the amber burst one and am very happy with it, i got it from Promenade music in morcambe, and gary did me a fantastic deal, (£680 and they,d just come out then, I even got the upgraded stand that comes with the more expensive versions, think that was a one off though) i think they are a great way to discover upright bass, like you ive been an electric player, i did dabble a bit while at college in newcastle and had lessons from a great guy called PETE STEWART dont have his no unfortunately it was a while ago, anway the actions low and the strings are very light, they also have fingerboard dots for us intonation dummies , so the transition is a lot easier, ive not used it too much in gigs (bit scared) but when i have ive had lots of compliments o the sound, a lot of purist say its just a big fretless electric and they have a point but with abit of creative tweaking you can get close and the sound is fine for me, i will upgrade to a 5 string CRM5 in the future and eventually get a proper one if i can get a big enough house. Anyway mate i recommend them highly i always wanted a steinberger, and when the wav came out i could finally afford one, give me aPM if you want a natter about it- all the best- LEE Cor not been in this part of Basschat before Anyways... Into all sorts of styles, but I seem to listen to an awful lot of Rush, It Bites and Jamiroquai. I play in a 5-piece covers band playing the odd gig in pubs and hotels, and I play in the Sunday morning band at my Church. I don't know how to (permanently) list my gear at the bottom of each post - maybe someone will point me in the right direction - but I'm currently playing a sunburst Fender Marcus Miller Jazz 4 through a Phil Jones Suitcase and 4B extention cab. Phil Jones stuff hasn't had one mention on Basschat as far as I can see, but it's fab and would recommend it to anyone. I've had the Marcus for about 18 months, and love it to bits too. Hi tom There was one in promenade music in morcambe,(LANCS) i saw it when i bought my WAV electric upright from there, that was about 8 months ago though, i didnt try it though was too busy fiddling(no pun intended) with my new purchase, cant find no at mo but google it, ask for gary great guy to deal with and gets stuff from the bass centres suppliers, but he has the NS line. Hi mate EBS & Warwick fantastic combination, rig looks fantastic, congratulations i really fancy the 2x12 myself, but i only play in small dark pits with evil metal pipe blowers who complain when you bring anything bigger than cereal box, thats why i got rid of my beloved proline 4x10. I think he;d had too much catnip or something, i was trying to photograph the cab to put on ebay and he would not leave it alone, didnt notice his stupid look till i checked the pics PRICELESS!!. I tried the electric shaver and it works a treat, really chuffed!! dont know what my back will look like next time i use it though. Definatly will be interested in buying some covers for the accu 110's, anyone know of any decent covers that will fit, the proper ones are £60 each,and im a bit skint do roqsolid do the accu sizes. Hi mate Bought a new accugroove tri110 today, and put on top of my other one only then did i notice the cat rash!!!! So as you say the most expensive cat posts ever and i have three cats sheesh!!!! so any tips would be great, perhaps a blunt razor(gillette) just to trim the sticky out bits of carpets (it works with suits when your guitar strap starts to bobble it.) Hi +1 on the unichorus, fantastic sweet sound, still leaves you with plenty of bottom end(theres a trim pot inside which balances your dry and effected sound, it also doubles as a flanger and pitch modulator?????, sad to say i bought it for its flanging as im an anthony jackson freak(and yes i know he used a phaser) but i wasnt keen, but the chorus totally diffrent animal. I played for a local production of "we will rock you" the queen show last year and used it on "those were the days of our lives" for those beautiful ninth slides, and it almost made me cry(or was it the red onions in my sarnie ha ha) Anyway two thumbs up for the unichorus buy with confidence. HI there The LX in question do you know what year it is, My first ever warwick was a streamer lx i bought new in 1998 and they had much slimmer necks made from wenge and it sounded fantastici used it for years and finally sold it 4 years ago for £450 to buy a lovely red 1990 streamer NT, back to the point they did change the necks to ovankol and changed the neck profile to a really chunky one (which i hate, my 5 string has it) which has a warmer sound but i dont think they are as well made as the earlier ones, Being a fender man a bolt on(warwick) may be more to your taste but its a much more modern sound very punchy!!. Also remember a fender USA precision has a much better resale value than warwicks at the mo, which is fantastic if you love warwicks mr warwickhunt hit the nail on the head a lot of people are selling LX streamers for not much less than the NT models which is a bit weird but try em see what you prefer( i personally preffered the sound of my old LX which came up for sale on ebay not too long ago i nearly bought it back but i couldnt justify having two 4 string streamers) good luck with your search, i use fender and warwicks they cover pretty much everything between em. take care-LEE A bit of advice would be much appreciated here. As a dyed in the wool Fender/Musicman fan, I know very little about Warwicks at all. As some of you may have seen, I currently have a Fender US Precision for trade/sale and was offered a Warwick Streamer LX as part of a deal.
