1. Hi there Depends on what stuff you like to listen too, he covered a lot of diffrent kinds of music in his career, my first recommendation would be "kind of blue" with Paul chambers masterful jazz upright playing, later he did more modern fusiony stuff and some downright wacky stuff (Aura) my favourite,s were "your under arrest" with Darryl jones on bass and "Tutu/ amandla" with Marcus miller. but in my humble opinion for bass studying it,s all good!!! love Miles he,s great. Enjoy the music- LEE p,s , i dont know if you have access to a record player (i know vinyl) but ive a couple of his funkier stuff which ive replaced on cd, id be happy to dig them out and send them to you. hi, ive recently been getting into Miles Davis and im wanting to buy some of his records. Thing is there is a stupidly large amount of records he released. Can anyone recommend which album i should buy. Ideally ide like one which will be cool to study the bass in.
2. Slight price drop, as i dont need it and im sure a fellow basschatter can have a use for this great pedalboard- lee
3. +1 John that sterling isnt short of Cahones!!! and the neck is fantastic, many thanks for putting it my way very happy with it ( when nearly having to sell a bass recently i chose to sell my warwick 5 over this, luckily i didnt have to sell either ) both fantstic instruments and all things to all men/women between them. Lee I've owned 2 Sterlings and 1 Ray and I have to confess I'd have a Sterling over a Ray any day! The Ray has a midge's kn*cker more ooomph when standard (I owned Lee's Nordstrand pup equipped Sterling and that has all of the balls of a ray) but the downsized body, S/P switching and gorgeous neck make the Sterling a better bass IMHO
4. Actually it was your original thread i remember, i just got it the wrong way round DOH!!!!!, thanks for the info very interesting especially about the stingray 5, s. Sterlings have ceramic pickups with a dummy coil for noiseless coil tapping. Stingrays have alnico. Stingray 5s originally had alnico, until the Sterling was brought out in 1993 (?) when they adopted the Sterling style pickup (albeit stretched). With the introduction of the Sterling 5, the Stingray 5 has reverted to alnico (IIRC).
5. Cheers, might have been the other way round so your prob right, mine actually has alnico coz its a nordstrand pickup, which is a bit fatter than the original which supports what your saying about the magnets as id imagine ceramic is a more modern tone:D the bongos have neo magnets would love to try one even though they look like toilet seats. Sterlings have always had ceramic magnets AFAIK
6. Yeah unfortunately it does, i had to use a seperate power supply for the Qtron as it was 24 volts or something. works fine for all 9 volt pedals, but the supply is the boss multi one. Does it only power 9v pedals?
7. I did hear something about stingrays having ceramic magnets in the pickups and sterlings have alnico,!! i have a sterling and i love it the necks really comfy and i like the small body coz im only wee myself ;)and im also a shandy drinking weirdo so manly stingrays arnt for me, played an old stingray a while back and loved the sound but the weight and neck was a bit much(especially for 5 sets a night 7 days a week . the neck diffrence is akin to a jazz verus a precision. soundwise the same although the sterling has the series/paralell/ single coil swithching i personall y dont like the other sounds but the main stingray sound is all you need, mind you tried a double pickup stingray 5 absolutely amazing well worth a try. take care- LEE is that why you tried to get my white sparkle Sterling off me back in May? I've owned both and both are great basses. I'd say the Sterling is the better bass for me because of the neck profile and switching (single coil mode is a useful addition imo) but I'd be just as happy owning a Stingray

In good nick and yours for £45 posted PM me if you,ve any questions - LEE Just a couple of versions and combinations ive had in this board, it fits quite a few pedals of diffrent sizes.
9. Wow thats one gorgeous stingray!!! love the birdseye fretboard!! Ive always loved the musicman sound as one of my heroes is "Louis Johnson" but ive always shy'd away from getting one, until a fortuitous trade with mr warwickhunt bagged me this beauty!!!!! This is Rita my new 2003 Sterling in Cherry burst with matching headstock and a nordstrand pickup fitted A total beauty im very pleased with it , i dont really use the switching just the parallel (i think) setting at the back for the proper stingray sound i dont really like the other settings, the grain in the ash is amazing need to sort some close up photos i think.Anyway keep posting those lovely rays, i particulary fancy an all natural double pickup sterling 5 ( i like the smaller neck and body as im a cissy) http://basschat.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/%3C#EMO_DIR%23%3E/laugh.png Lee

12. Just sold my Ebs Unichorus to pete, nice bloke really fast payment no bother whatsoever, he even gave me a very handy geography lesson thanks pete great dealing with you- LEE
13. Holy cow!!!!! just checked out the G&L sound clips, thats an absolutely amazing sound, thanks for putting me onto these pete, i might end up selling my warwick after all, would love to try the all maple one, its got to be the one to have. all the best - lee In all seriousness, you won't be disappointed if you do. I'd not heard one myself either, til I heard a bass player who was gigging at the same venue as me. I thought it sounded fantastic, so I came home and started looking on the net. That same day, yorks5stringer was selling his. I couldn't believe the price they were selling for. It's now used as my main bass, ahead of my 91 Thumb 5 NT, Lakland JO5 and Fender Marcus Miller sig.
14. AAAAAARRGGGGGHHH THATS GORGEOUS!!!!!! I really wish i had the money for this, i can attest to the quality of these i have an 82 jazz bass, absolutely amazing, i had a chance to purchase a fiesta red precision many moons ago and didnt, huge regret, put some flatwounds on it and voila instant Pino Palladino, if i wasnt about to become a father in 2 weeks id have this, huge bump for a magnificent instrument at a good price. all the best - lee The colour is actually `Fiesta Red' and Jo rightly points out that it varies according to the lighting! More like the orangey red colour than pink....!
15. Likewise John should have done this ages ago (just getting into the feedback thing) Did a deal with john to reunite him with an old flame, and in return i got a great sterling which is now a firm favourite and def a keeper, lovely bloke and a complete oracle of all things bass (especially warwick) and a pleasure to talk to. cheers john- lee Greggs is 300 yds from where I live and the kettle is always on Cheers for a nice and easy transaction.
16. Just met pete tonight to trade for his EBS multicomp, absolutely great guy and a pleasure to talk too, its a shame my pregnant wife needed feeding or i could have gassed all night. deal with confidence thanks pete love the pedal- lee Sold Pete a EBS Pedal Board and MultiDrive recently, and have to say the transaction couldn't have been easier. Great fella to deal with..... P
17. Unichorus is now sold, just the ultra funky wah 1 to go!!! one again will trade this for a multicomp in good nick- lee
18. Mate this is such a tradgedy. This is an early bolt on warwick, absolutley fantastically made and much much better than anything being churned out at the mo, the early fives have really great necks(wenge neck, available from warwick only as a custom option now) and the pro m pickup system is really versitile,(two seperate jazz pickups in one with seperate tone controls for each) if i could i would have snapped this up ages ago, any young players looking for a quality 5 string for an amazing price should no further, really hope this sells, mind you i want it . Huge bump for a beautiful instrument- lee
19. Hi MB1 Shame, it was a general statement, but sounded like i was asking you ha ha you sure you dont have one in the attic or something. take care- lee MB1. Dont have an EBS multicomp Mate!
20. Hey Josh Dont like the picture your painting of the eden sound , EBS td650 and proline 4x10 best rig ive ever used period, and ive had a few, as mr ferret pointed out, the brightness can be eq;d out and it still sounds clear as a bell and warm, gorgeous really miss that rig definately my sound, not for everyone though. Just to say, I had a good 3 hour stint with pretty much the same EBS rig I'm getting very soon, a Neo 2x10 and Neo 2x12 and a TD650 head. I tried all 3 of my basses through it, and was 100% happy with everything I was hearing, it's exactly what my Eden isn't, it's bright, it's warm, has the sizzle and zing, and everything else in between. And at high volumes it was consistent and clear, as I expected. And it was pretty much with a flat eq, besides a little cut on the treble and the tweeters, and little treble cut on my basses. Even my King-Bass with some nigh on dead strings sounded good, but my 535 and SSII sounded perfect:-)
21. And replied thanks pete!!! Hi there, I'm interested in the Unichorus, I'll send you a P

24. i think it looks rather sexy actually +1 chrome knobs I love the pickguard, it looks almost swirled. Nice bass!
