  1. Yes, interesting. Was interested but £2.5k for a MIC bass was a bridge too far for me. I had a MIC D Roc at about £1.5k and thought that was absolute top end on the quality to price ratio.
  2. Modulus FU Funk Unlimited Flea Bass Modulus FU Funk Unlimited Flea Bass - 2004 - £2899 shipped mainland UK. No trades. Good overall condition, small scratch on back of bass, some scuffing on end of headstock and a chip on the underside of the headstock are the only things I can see worthy of a mention - all pictured. Dates from 2004. Weight is 4.196kg on digital kitchen scales. Preamp is a Batrolini NTBT 918.
  3. Interesting bass, these are Made In China, set up in Canada, correct? On the Pre amp specs: Preamp Rupert Neve Designs 2-Band EQ Bass: +/- 12db / 20Hz Treble: +/- 12db / 4.4KHz 20HZ on Bass is low.
  4. Yep - the Bleached Blonde Thumbs are 2003.
  5. Nice basses, though be aware if buying in the UK (if thats where they still are...) I know of at least 2 and most likely 3 of these that have neck / truss rod issues. Number 27 is one I'm fairly certain. Another was listed on ebay for spares as separate neck and body, then surfaced later as a complete bass at Bass Direct in the used section.
  6. Yes of course, happy to help
  7. Sold a bass to Quent. Remarkably easy and straight forward deal. Easy communication, no drama at all. Would be more than happy to deal with again.
  8. What difference does a preamp make in a bass? It depends on what preamp was in before and the new preamp. Replace a (non trim version especially) tone pump into a bass that had a different preamp and you will see a huge difference in output and tone shaping options.
  9. "taped up both ends so there's a definite start/finish (like a Stingray headstock end) and it's very subtle." As our much missed BC legend MB1 would say.... That's the Stingray tide mark.
  10. Yes to just those 2 areas. Scalloped frets benefits, with a nod to Billy Sheehan, are.... Scalloped Fretboards give players a unique way to express their playing beyond a regular fretboard. The main benefits are improved note clarity and separation, less pressure on the left hand, and the possibility of achieving microtonal bends by pressing down harder. Subjectively it does help me with speed and fluency in the scalloped area.

  12. Haha, yeah, downsizing from a recent house move and went for 2 of the Spector Euro X basses so needs must!!!
  13. Toneriders are great pickups - particularly their P Bass pickup.
  14. Stingray Classic 4 String – Sea Foam /Mint Green(ish)– Professionally Reliced and Scalloped Frets £1499 £1399 Now £1299 plus £35 to ship Mainland UK. No Trades A Stingray Classic 4 String in a lovely sea foam / mint green (type) finish. Nice birdseye maple neck. Comes with MM hardcase. Good overall condition, a few bumps and scrapes here and there, the only thing worth of a mention in my mind is the dink on the top of the 3rd fret - see photo. The previous owner of the bass commissioned some relicing and for the upper frets on the higher strings to be scalloped like a Yamaha Billy Sheehan Attitude. Unusual, and admittedly not for everyone, but this has been done to a high standard.
  15. Limelight P Bass - £1000 £950 £900 plus £35 to ship mainland UK. No trades - need to downsize for an upcoming house move. "F" neck plate with rubber bumper, plus 1970's Big TV logo with tinted headstock face and spray over the logo. Lovely purple colour, gold anodized scratchplate. Bass is fitted with a Stellartone Tonestyler which has a 10 - position knob to give you very accurate tone changes & much more flexibility especially in the mids. Width at the nut is 38mm, weight is 4.25kg
  16. Interesting bass, never seen one of these. Google doesnt really tell me much more either. Tempted to have a look out of curiosity but dont think its for me. Happy to facilitate a pickup and onwards shipping if it helps anyone......
  17. Schaller 3D 5 Bridge - £65 posted Mainland UK. The roller bridge saddles reliably minimize string breakage while maintaining intonation and tuning stability. 3-dimensional adjustment of string height, intonation and string spacing (with roller bridge saddles). The individual string intonation is set by adjusting the string saddles. Heavy and precise construction for extra long sustain. Complete with 3mm spacer. The guitar or bass strings lie on low-friction roller saddles which prevent the strings from breaking. The roll widths are optimized for the standard mood B-E-A-D-G.
  18. EMG DC40 x 2 - £135 Posted. Some cosmetic scuffing on one of the pickups as shown in photos. EMG 40DC Active Humbucker Bass Pickup, 5 String, Black. The 40DC, with its modern appearance is actually a product of 30+ years of design experience. Reproducing an extended range cleanly - both higher AND lower - taxes the abilities of conventional pickups. In the 40DC, we have succeeded in getting this extended range by utilizing an ultra low noise, low-impedance internal preamp, paired with ceramic loaded dual parallel coils that result in an extremely versatile unit that can be used for just about anything from the cleanest highs right down to the dirtiest growling lows. This model uses an extended housing that is 4 inches (102mm), perfect for five string spacing's. See why musicians worldwide are raving about their DC's!
