    They say you can only pick 2 out of 3 when it comes to size, sensitivity and low end extension. This cab sacrifices sensitivity for the other two meaning you have to drive it with more watts than most cabs to get the same volume. But it goes stupidly deep for a 210 and it can take 600w so as long as you have a powerful enough amp, it should be plenty loud enough for gigs.

    I'm happy for food to be provided on the day, but don't mind if I have to fend for myself, as long as I know by Friday. Regarding the money, I'd rather the surplus went as a raffle prize or basschat donation than have you writing out and posting 40 cheques for 93p each!

    Yes, I've gone and done it again. Splurged a buttload of cash on another fuzz pedal, only to find that I still prefer what I already have. Great muff-like fuzz with built in clean blend. Brand new, cost $210 + £35 ish for customs and import charges (grrr) = £175. I can still return this but will only get back $200 (£135), minus my postage fees means I'll only get £125. With me so far? What this means is you can save yourself £50 off the price of importing one as well as avoiding the two week build time and buy mine for £125! I will bring it to the London bash next week as well along with the other stuff I'm selling.     I forgot all about this bash - will try and make it down! Should be able to bring some gear down too, my trusty P-Bass, Orange Terror and pedals. If anyone feels they might be interested in buying an Orange SP210 cab, Barge VB-Jr blender or Chicago Iron Parachute wah, let me know and I'll bring them down and you can try them out! Does anybody have an Ashdown Little Bastard they could bring along?

    The lightest all valve amp is probably the Ashdown Little Bastard, or maybe the Orange Tiny Terror (guitar version, but can also be used for bass). They are both low wattage though, having more power requires bigger transformers, more tubes etc and that's when it starts to get heavy! I have a Terror Bass but haven't A/B-ed it against any real valve amps so I can't really say much apart from the fact that is sounds good. I really want to try out the Ashdown LB and may end up doing a swap for one at some point if I like them.

    Yup, and it's probably your best bet I reckon. You don't really need the XLR out if you're going straight to the desk without an amp. The balanced output that a DI would provide would be useful however to reduce noise on long cable runs, but if you're standing next to your PA then a normal instrument cable will do just fine. You may even find that you like the sound of it so much that you have it always on even going into your regular amp! What bass and amp are you using out of interest?

    If you want to go for a CIJ Fender Jazz, I spotted a cracking used one in a local shop in Croydon going for £350. Unsure of the year, looked brand new but assumed it was used at that price. Nice unmarked rosewood board, tort plate and great sunburst finish with no visible lines where they joined the body pieces together (something I hate to see on sunburst models, especially on MIA basses). Had an urge to buy it there and then but resisted!

    Jerry, that just looks like someone's tried to shim the neck (badly). Folk usuall just shove piece of card in the neck pocket, not staple on a piece of sandpaper?! I haven't taken the neck off mine though so maybe they're all like it! Regarding the pots, mine are easy to turn and I like it that way. Probably still the originals from 79 as far as I can tell and scratch free. If you're going to re-wire the thing, I would take out the entire wiring assembly in one piece so you can put it back in if you ever come to sell it. These instruments are approaching vintage status so don't chuck out the original pots and wiring!
