I've also tried Alex's Ginger (although before he messed with the trimpots to lower the gain) and for me, the Blueberry is my always-on. It is very dark compared to most drives though, so if you want something with a bit more brightness on tap it might not be for you, but it has the best breakup character I've ever found in a pedal. I even use mine at low gain as my amp sim for headphone practice, it's the best thing I've found for that (and I've been through a few amp modellers and preamps with speaker sims).

?! And £229 for the guitar version.

Neutrik Jacks - Driving me mad!
+1 to W.O.T.s rapid wit. Makes the rest of us look like Klotz.
It was pretty Van Damme funny. -
You shouldn't do any damage to the guitar amp. The internals aren't an issue, the only potential problem is feeding the speaker too much low frequency content, but most guitar amps filter the deep lows anyway, plus you're rolling off the bass EQ. Just listen to the guitar rig in isolation and you should be able to test how bassy it sounds! If you want a more portable version of this setup you can try a Tech21 California (or the dirt cheap Joyo clone) which is a Mesa simulator, and blend your clean bass with that via the LS-2 and send the mixture to your bass rig.

Out of interest, why is the lack of battery power a deal breaker, especially if the pedal comes with a power supply? If you really need to be free of power cables, there are rechargeable power supplies like the Pedaltrain Volto (although that seems overkill for just one pedal). If you're just bass and drums, you may find you want more and more effects such as octavers until you end up needing a board to put them on! Look up the various threads discussing Royal Blood for some ideas on pitch shifting and creating fake guitar sounds too.

More as in what? The PJB Bighead has more than a rudimentary EQ as it has an aux in, USB audio interface and is rechargeable. Or are you talking more about tone shaping and overdrive? The Two Notes Le Bass sounds excellent with 2 switchable channels plus the ability to run them in parallel or series, plus a cab sim... But no aux in or batteries, so depends what you're after!

That 3-band alnico sounded awful next to the other two. Maybe to do with how the EQ was set (how was it set)? Still, I would've thought the preamp on the regular non-classics should be the same. Aren't the 3-bands cut/boost with centre detents, and the 2-bands boost only on the bass and boost/cut on the highs with no detent?

If you go DHA get the most recent model as the older ones supposedly have noisy headphone amps!

Was going to suggest the PJB Bighead but it doesn't have a thru output, it's designed to be used more for headphone practice. But if that's all you want it for I can thoroughly recommend!

This is the latest filter creation from Mike Beigel, creator of the original Mutron III. Widely regarded to nail the original Mutron III sounds with even more options including a blended bandpass mode and a switchable adjustable preamp to adjust overall volume. I bought this direct from the manufacturer site last year, snagging one of the limited edition signed versions. This one is even more rare as it is labelled Mu-Tron instead of Tru-Tron - they were unable to use the Mutron name in the US due to copyright issues, but somehow they were allowed to use the name in Europe. These pedals are now out of stock on mu-fx.com. Why am I selling? It's a contender for the best envelope filter I've ever used, but I really want to try out a Lovetone Meatball and don't want to have over £600 tied up in filters! So would trade for a Meatball (as long as it's in good condition). http://mu-fx.com/store/trutron-3x/ SOLD

Bought these recently to try them out but I prefer my trusty DT-770s. They have had very little use and are in excellent condition along with the original packaging. Stock pic below, I can upload actual photos tomorrow (if they are still here!). If he were trying to con he wouldn't post the Mexican serial and a pic of the headstock saying Made In Mexico. Bless his cotton socks, perhaps he's just a few sandwiches short of a picnic. -
Same goes for overdrive/distortion/fuzz, except they are even more divisive!

Darkglass BXK is a perfect fit for the Dingwall NG-2 and Thumb. I think they sound best with a naturally scooped growly bass and not so great with a Precision though (I prefer the Vulcan with a P). If you're after something more compressed and amp-like, yet still growly as you like and works wonderfully with just about any bass, check out the Aguilar Agro or VT Bass. The Creation Audio Grizzly and Two Notes Le Bass also would also fit well but I've yet to try them!
