I've currently got both. The Harvest is "better" in that it is stiffer and slightly better protection. The Levy's is "better" as it is a fair bit smaller and more compact, and lighter. The padding in both is firm and actually does protect the bass. That's really the difference to me - yes the zips on both are better, they both feel well made etc but the padding works. I think the Harvest leather bags are smaller than the canvas one I've got, but I've never seen one to compare. I use the Levys most. But I've also used the Harvest bag a fair bit over 3 years and it still looks new.

I had one for a while - its was a very good compressor. I used it to "control" things on louder gigs, and it does that well, and it doesn't mess up your sound. But I thought the build qulity was well below standard. The jacks weren't connected to the case at all, which makes them (and their cicuit board mounting) very vulnerable to damage and the footswitch was crap. If I'd done a lot of loud gigs I would've had it re-built in another case - I couldn't see it surviving long as it comes.

There are different types - the WD ones are Korean (?) made to Kent's design, but both Kent and son Aaron make "bespoke" pickups in many many different styles. I've used all variations - all good, although the WD ones haven't got the "finess" of more pricey versions.

Just did a "car park" bass exchange - if only everything was so easy! Pleasure to do a deal with. I won't go on....
Does that mean it has a really 'chunky' neck like maybe a late 70'4 Fender?
Thats the thing. It is chunky (deep and wide) but doesn't feel it, until you pick up a Jbass. I put this neck on a Bravewood light alder Jbody for a week or two (long story) and it was easily the best "fender" I've ever played. Too Jaco even for me!

The great Bassbod sale is getting serious... A very playable and affordable Alembic. It may be one of their cheaper models (set neck, no filters, simple thinner finish) but sounds very very nice. Maple neck (5 pce) with thick ebony board - dot markers on edge for frets 3/5/7/ etc. Body is beautiful mahogany with a wenge front and contrast layer of maple. Two Alembic pickups, with vol/blend/treb/bass- cut or boost. Nicely voiced preamp, very little hiss even on significant treble boost. In very good codition, has been strung with TI flats, so only minimal scratches to fingerboard. One ding in headstock, one scratch to the side of the lower body edge. Comes with truss rod adjusting spanner, and in the Sadowsky light case shown. I might also chuck in the posh Harvest leather strap, if you're nice. Its not a light bass, but I've found it ok. Its about the same as 4 string Warick Thumb bass, but better balanced! String spacing is slightly tighter than "fender" but I've never had to think about it...it feels right to me. I'll look it up or measure if anyone's concerned. Price is £850 collected from Bristol/Bath area...PM questions as always Edit - current list price is $6300 - that's scary...

First some photos.. This is a maple jbass neck, about ten years old and probably of japanese origin. Has a mature oil finish, fitted with Gotoh nickel reverse tuners, nut, string retainer and extra strap button on the back. Neck heel is "standard fender" ie its fitted well on a couple of Fender/style bodies. Rosewood board, de-fretted and veneers fitted - then given a thin superglue varnish to protect the fingerboard and add a Jaco-style growl to the sound. I did all the work, so its not a pro job...but its also not bad! Perfectly playable, unless you want the action super-low. I used a radius block etc and have used this neck quite happily for a few years. I'm tempted to put this on a bass again, but I'm having a clear out. Collection from Bristol/Bath area..pm questions, as usual

Ritter double gig bag

The great Bassbod sale continues... This is around 4-5 years old, but I've only used it a few times. I'd rather carry two gig bags, as the combined weight of two basses is surprising..but I'm also a wimp. Excellent condition, loads of storage pockets, all zips tags and straps in perfect condition. Quality wise, its a good bag (but not the best) and was around £75-80 new. Collection preferred from Bristol/Bath area, or meet somewhere not too far away.....pm questions etc -
