2. Hey Kevin, Welcome from another noob. You'll do alright. There's enormous amounts of searchable info on here already, and you can always start your own threads asking the questions you need answered. Me, I started one and a half year ago, and am already the best bassist in the history of mankind - thanks to BC. Anyway, mix and mingle, and enjoy the banter. best, bert
 3.
http://musescore.org/
4. Hey Cedric, Welcome! Nope, it's not .UK only - as you've already gathered. I'm sure you'll learn as much on BC as I do - probably more, seeing as you're quite active on the bass front. Enjoy the site! best, bert
 5.
It is not too many watts that does nasty things to cabs, it is too few being driven into distortion. I used to drive an NV610 with an 800w amp for many happy hours.
That's basically true, but it depends on the clipping and on the cab. Normally, clipping indeed creates a lot of extra amplitude in the high frequency area. Push that signal through a tweeter that is not designed to take it, and the tweeter may be ruined. However, many amps have circuits to prevent this standard clipping, and many cabs lack the tweeter. Without knowing this, I can also imagine cabs which have protective circuits or have tweeters that can handle the extra highs. best, bert
 6.
but I did ask for them with that title
As you had to. This is BassChat, not boring BassScienceReport. best, bert
 7. OffFender! Now that's a name!
 8. Thanks, guys! It's fully clear now, and also explains why I would find both "ground lift" and "ground/lift". b, b
 9.
Think its switching between grounded, and having the ground connection lifted (so not on the ground any more).
Thanks! Language barrier is kicking in though, but allow me to try: So if I get this right, "lifted" means you're simply disconnecting the grounding? I'd have expected something more advanced. best, bert
 10.
Has the OTB got a pre and post option for the DI?
Nope. It's post only. best, bert
 11.
+1
OK, 501 Watt then, but I'm still convinced Spoombung just meant to roughly indicate. best, bert
 12. You decide. It's your bass. But since you chose to ask the question: I'd not sell it on with that decal still present. My bitsa Jazz is gonna be called a Finder Jazz Bitsa, thus clearly showing what it is, whilst retaining the capitals F, J and B. best, bert
 13.
don't take the pee
then:
take the pee
We're sick and tired of people sending out mixed messages and putting us in a double bind position, but we'd never take the pee! Welcome, Pat, to the wonderful world that sometimes is BassChat. I'm sure you'll thrive here. There's all types of bassists, guitarists and drummers on here, and some would probably be much into experimental stuff. I know I am, but then again I've not yet climbed to the level of being a bassist. Anyway, enjoy the info, the quite often polite debate, and the banter! best, bert
 14.
i remember i once edited a page to be incorrect so i could win an argument lol.
Damn you! I got an F! b, b
 15.
and to Steve-BBB for his double welcome!
Bah! He only does that to put pressure on you. Ya'know, the Must Have Cat In Avatar thing. b, b
 16. As far as I understand (or not) the answers in this thread, 1) the power amp in the OTB provides the load that the preamp needs, also when there's no load on the power amp 2) the DI button is not switching between ground and lift (whatever those might be if they even exist) but is a ground lift switch The manual is very short and really does not volunteer much information, though it does say that the ground lift button is used only when a ground hum appears. In case I wonder about the dash in "Ground/Lift". Can anyone confirm or correct my understanding? best, bert
 17.
Packing up afterwards
Within the frame of it having to do with music, the very best thing on the planet, I must agree with that one. The tediousness of putting dots on sheets comes a very close second. best, bert
 18.
Of course I've been known to be wrong :-)
Still moaning about that? Man, that was in 1964! Get over it already, fer cryin' out loud! best, bert
 19. All I know is they've received favourable reviews, and I once recorded a live show just for the delightful bass sound, and I later found out the bass was a Starplayer. Don't know what fingers the guy used though. best, bert
 20.
Sad news indeed but no mention of it on tv or even radio 2 this morning.
Yeah, same here. Not on tv, not in the papers. Don't they know it, or don't they get it? best, bert
 21. Hi Steve, Seeing as the head has a treble knob and your bass probably has one as well, I think the last thing you should do right now is opening the cab and putting in an extra port. All that work for what? Getting a little less treble? If you really need to try this: How about just putting some "test foam" in front of the tweeter to try out the sound with and without foam? Edit: Or is it really about the frequency response of the rest of the spectrum? Do these sites state what the difference will be? Personally I have a hard time imagining that the changes would be so essential, as this basically is a very nice cheapish combo. best, bert
 22. Welcome Kiwi 2 / the other Kiwi / JR, Enjoy these fora. best, bert
 23. Same here. They're in my list of fave sellers. best, bert
 24. Yet another one hits the dust. It surely tells something about age. http://www.alvinlee.com/ . .
 25.
There are of course manufactured bands for financial exploitation purposes, but even the Spice Girls had some cracking songs.
Their first album had some great, great pop music indeed. Apparently a composer duo was responsible, who sadly did not work on the SG's second album. Hm. Note to self: check out those guys, and see what else they did. best, bert
