1.
Wow - I didn't know that!! On his honeymoon as well, according to wikipedia The bassline on Come Up And See Me was one of the records I remember as really confirming me as a bassist because while everyone else would sing or whistle the vocal melody I was always the one dum-dum-dumming along to the bassline. I also seem to remember some mild controversy at the time about CR refusing to mime on TOTP, hence them making a point of introducing slight differences to the single's recording. I also remember using my reel-to-reel recorder to re-mix the song and re-insert previous sections after the dead stops in the song to create a 10 minute version fo the song to play along to. Happy days. With apologies for the intro (skip to 0:22) . . . .
Wasn't it George Ford (the guy in the video from TOTP) that played on "come up and see me" and the album it was taken from? George also passed away in I think 2007. Lincoln sounded like a top bloke, I bet lessons with him were brilliant! And I have to admit that "Come up and see me" had a major influence on me picking up a bass and learning.
2.
He's great! I'd have him in my band. He would need to get a decent haircut and some better clothes first though ;-)
Yep. Love a showboating drummer.
3. LOL! Wasn't really on the wife's list of priorities.
4. Anybody from this area recommend any decent shops? We own a caravan on the Seashore park, and are off down there on Saturday. I like to ave a mooch whilst I'm out and about.
5. Definitely black.
6. I actually follow the guy on Facebook. And unlike the mind blowing arrogance and snorting down noses seen from some in this thread he seems like a genuine, humble guy. But then I thought music was about entertainment not elitism. Guess I've been wrong all these years.
7. Nice to see as has become the Norm for basschat (I can't quite pinpoint when it became talkbass) this thread has descended into a wash of ego battles, sarcasm and vitriol.... Partly why I don't visit the forums as religiously as I used to. For my 10p worth, Carol Kaye as she was underrated, and D'arcy Wretzky from the Pumpkins.
8. If it was closer, and I had £150 I'd snap it up. Have one already, weighs a ton but the neck is something else.
9.

Wish I'd never sold on my 2012 FSR. The US standards are nice.
10. eBay does auto relist unsold items. Just a thought.
11. Time for the updated family portrait ....
12. I'm intrigued to hear the PBXN in action, I love the Fender "original" pickups but I'd like something with more bite in an (as in The Ox) kind of vibe. Tried Wizard Thumpers a while back but they didn't achieve what I wanted. If the jazz equivalent is anything to go by (they are louder than the Fender P pickup in my PJ) I might be on to something.
13. Pales into insignificance next to that 66 Slab...
14. Having obtained a nice CAR PJ body, I picked up one of the Neobdnym J bridges to pair with a standard Fender "original" p pickup. My god you could stop a charging Rhino with it. I think I'll be investing in a P/j set for the Washburn next. Never was impressed with Jazz bridge pickups but this one is an eye opener.
15. Watch out for bugs if you do it outside. And if its even slightly humid dont use Nitro! Blooms like hell.
16. Revitalised my old Washburn XS-4 with one of these. Rather good for £20 odd quid from Thomann
17. I forgot about the other two...
18.
Maybe, if you're playing just the right frequency while she's perched on the corner of the cab. The "pink note" possibly?
That's why they call it the G spot.... =D
19. So it comes as Pictured.... Does that mean she comes with the bass?
20.
Mine was a sunburst 1973 Precision, got it when I was 16 (now 30!) for £300! It looked beautiful and had the ashtrays, but it was absolutely devoid of any tone, acoustically and plugged in it sounded totally dull, lifeless and awful...
Stupid question but did you try changing the strings?
21. I bought a Dean Metalman V on a whim. Sounded like s**t, neck felt like s**t, finish felt cheap and nasty. Sold it to the local crack converters for £20 more than I bought it for.
22. I bought one of the two-gang ones for my Portaflex. They are bullet proof, really solidly built.
23. http://www.frudua.com/sound_of_electric_guitar_wood.htm Interesting reading
