  1. Chap - play something we know! Singist - it works better if we play something we know!
  2. Just buy them in bulk from the USA? Last time i did it 6 sets of Hi Beams came to $129 inc shipping. As long as you keep it below £130 (I seem to remember, check up on that amount) you don't need to pay import duty.
  3. I'm not so sure that it is.... the drummer sorted it out and i ordered the backdrop stand.....
  4. Ours isn't a heavy vinyl one. It's a super light, fireproof blackout fabric. The drummer had it made - he's a bit particular about having decent kit and persuaded us to spring £300 on it. To be fair to him it was a good call. It packs up really small and is nice and light which means we don't need a heavy duty stand to hang it on.
  5. Safer for everyone 😁
  6. American DJ Sweeper Beam Quads
  7. We have one of these and extend the width by using a couple of tent poles bungeed along the top sticking out each side depending on the width we need. The flat feet are much better than the usual tripod ones as you can slide them under amps if required. You don't need to shift the drummer forward at all. https://www.printedtoday.co.uk/product/backdrop-stands/ Bungee balls are on Amazon and the 4" ones are the right length. It gives us this at its widest....
  8. That's a marginal improvement on a couple of picks! You're unbanned.....
  9. I reckon you're in. Visually its very close.
  10. Why 3 rather than 2? A spare for your spare? Or do they all feel/play a bit different? Do you have a fave? But a perfect example none the less
  11. Yellowhouse had a good one last night. Large sized pub in Harlow and our first gig there. They have bands a couple of times a month and it's a typical sports bar/food place. Quite a difficult sound though - it was long and low with a wooden floor, no carpets and full length glass windows down the whole of one side. The bass and kick drum was just disappearing as soon as you stood 20 feet away out front. (On stage it was loads of fun though as the bass was properly cranked up to compensate - my eyeballs were shaking. New strings on a Warwick Corvette with EMG's, a Mesa BB750 pushing hard through a pair of Barefaced Big Baby cabs.) We weren't sure if we may be a bit too rowdy/rocky for what we assumed would be a Sex On Fire/Mr Brightside crowd but had loads of people coming up after saying it was refreshing to see something a bit different from what they usually had there. Half a dozen regulars also went down the 'best band we've ever had here' convo which is always nice for the ego. Rebooks guaranteed for next year. Easy load in and excellent hospitality from the owners and security guys as well. We enjoyed ourselves. Oh, and i was back home in 20 minutes 🙂
  12. Why 3? Not happy with just a spare?
  13. Doesn't count... Has to be identical visually
  14. Doesn't count.... 😁
  15. @Bunion you're banned! 🤣
  16. Have you got any bass kit that is an identical twin of something else you already have? Something that for some reason you just needed/wanted exactly the same thing again whilst still having the original item. I've just picked up a second used Sony DWZ wireless unit because they're long discontinued, super rare and I love my old one. It been used most weekends and having kept my eye on recent 'what wireless' threads I can't see anything currently that I would be happy to splash the cash on should it fail on me. It'll be parked in the spares drawer or loaned out within the band in case I ever need it. And the other twin I have is a second Mesa Boogie Big Block 750 obtained by a recentish trade with one of our esteemed Basschat members @silverfoxnik Again driven by the fact that I love my original one, there aren't many about and the opportunity arose to grab a spare. So the criteria is that it must be exactly the same as something you already possess. If it's a bass it must be visually identical - no extra strings or different colours. And lets not bother about second cabs or accessories such as stands/leads and suchlike. Just basses, amps, effects or similar bigger things. Watcha got and why?
  17. Bought a few bits from Pete. Perfect transaction, fast easy and well packaged (thats enough about my missus though...) Highly recommended!
  18. It could be a UK courier thing. Since Tufnells went bust a few weeks back all the other ones have been deluged with extra work and are way behind in general. Throw in customs and international purchasing......
  19. Plan H New P bass with a heavier body It's much more fun getting new basses than new straps! 🙂
  20. Although I would generally agree with you I think maybe there is a difference between a festival appearance and a 'proper' gig. If I've paid good money to see that bands particular gig I would expect them to deliver the goods. But if they were part of a multiband line up I wouldn't be so bothered. Looking at the TV footage there seemed to be thousands of people enjoying Blondies set regardless. A bit of sunshine, a few drinks and a feel good vibe singing along to a load of songs that brought back your teen memories is not a bad afternoon for most of the general public.
  21. I didn't know it was Matt Bissonette on bass for Elton. I saw him with Dave Lee Roth in the late 80's replacing Billy Sheehan
  22. I enjoyed Maneskin. They really got the whole crowd going. A bit samey but fun to watch. And Victoria is a solid bass player.
