No way that I am putting my studio in this thread, someone would contact environmental health.
i can remedy this problem, i was thinking the same thing but im gonna bite the bullet and take some pictures tomorrow in the daylight and post em anyway :^)

Lined Fretless neck - why did I wait sooooo long!
winterfire666 replied to steviedee's topic in Bass Guitars
i have always wondered if you could make lines from leds with somekind of thin straight lenses on a fretless, so each full line properly (and evenly) lights up, that would look amazing, has anyone ever seen this? -
i use a rh750 into a 2x12 and the volume is just stupid, playin prog/thrash/melodic metal with 2 loud guitarists and easily cutting through the mix, i love it

i dont do it, thats just plain freaky (i dont think i do anyway) but i know someone who does, not just grunting but strange heavy breathing too, i dont think hes aware of it its not only very funny but a bit sinister too. oh yeah and he seems to do it with or without headphones although it is far more sinister (and louder) when he has them on.

Using mixer inserts for outboard graphic equaliser
winterfire666 replied to mep's topic in General Discussion
the insterts should be a stereo jack socket which provides the in and out on the same jack you need a y jack lead for each channel (stereo to 2xmono) connect the stereo end to your instert jacks on the mixer and the other end to the ins and outs on the EQ on the mixer (or in the manual)it should say wether its the tip or the ring that is the send or return so you can get it the right way around. -
in my opinion the kemper profiling amplifier is the best of both worlds, easy to use like analogue and the ability to accuratey clone classic rigs or your rig/your sound but with the advantages of bieng in the digital realm with extensive editing options, control and connectivity. its the single best purchase i have ever made and i literally couldnt do with it now.(certainly wouldnt want to anyway) it really does sound the business on bass or guitar, i also use some channel strip profiles to process vocals and keys now too. highly recommended :^)

on hold till next week pending collection. -
as title says tatty yet functional hardcase, free to a good home, collection from darwen, lancashire. could do with a bit of extra padding or foam inside to stop bass from moving around ideally. no key.
But how can you retire after such an experience, surely you want more?
nah , im good, i joined the band while my main project was looking for guitarists, it was always gonna be a temp thing, ill be giggin my own stuff before the end of the year. i was just lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time. good luck to them though, really nice blokes :^)

just had a great weekend in the united states, played a couple of gigs ending with the chance to play 4 songs with iron maiden drummer and legend Nicko McBrain. i always knew he was an awesome drummer but to play some classic maiden with the master was an amazing experience, he has such a great vibe, the whole rhythm section just came alive with his playing. it was my last gig with the band, what a great high to end on. good luck and have fun to the fellow basschat member who is taking my place. maybe a tc BG250 £345 brand new, not silly heavy, great tone. and just over 15kg http://www.bassdirec...BG_250_115.html just spotted this too, awesome deal on either the 115 or the 2x10, more power, still light though around 22kg http://www.bassdirec...s_210,_115.html genz stuff is bieng discontinued so these bargains wont last long.

What's the worst bass you've ever owned or played?
winterfire666 replied to Marc S's topic in Bass Guitars
the worst i have played was an old no name p/j left handed bass with a neck like a banana, it didnt seem to bother the crazy fool who owned it though. the worst i have owned was a fretless warwick corvette, big pile of sh**e. bought it cheap in cash generator and though i would give it a go, the mec's sounded awfull and the neck was appauling, like a drainpipe. over rated piece of cr*p in my opinion, sold it for a substantial profit and my world was at peice one again. -
I reckon a BC Rich Ironbird made of Iron would do the job properly
Try and find an early/mid 80's Streamer, they have a very slim neck (back to front as well); in fact my 5th Anniversary Streamer has a thinner neck than ANY bass I've tried in 30+ years... Oh and I've tried a LOT!
yeah im not opposed to trying different models, asthetically i like some models, others not so much, i would never rule them out but i wouldnt go out of my way to hunt one down. i would have to swap out any dirty MEC's though Zon necks are Amazing!!!!!!, but thats not easily achievable with wood
-
What was it about the necks that put you off?
i like a neck to be as slim (thin front to back) as possible and i know warwick necks vary from one model to another but they all feel wrong to me the infinity i mentioned was the closest that i liked but i think that was a custom order.
-
i have played a LOT of warwicks and i have only liked 1(early maple infinity), they just aint for me i suppose. the necks are horrible. really not a fan of MEC's either.

i was never a massive metallica fan but i enjoyed their earlier stuff. just last week however i had the urge to check out some recent live dvd footage, just out of curiosity. i was unpleasntly surprised when checking out the classic track 'the four horemen' one of my favorites from way back, it was appauling, no life to it at all and the vocal .... i dont know what has happened but this isnt the band i remember, i think i would get more enjoyment by watching a cover band and just to prove my point the following week we played a gig with solitary from the preston area, they did the same track and it was epic! one of the best versions i have seen. how do they continue to be so massive? i just dont get it.
