    Writing the Record Collector feature I bought the book for reminded me what a phenomenon they were. Only got to see them ten years ago - had seen Jan solo but not quite the same. He and Thijs were like the Gallagher’s, always feuding…unlike the tranquility of some of their output.

    In And Out Of Focus - the Music of Jan Akkerman and Focus by David Randall. Great condition hardback. Bought this as I was writing a feature on the band for Record Collector. Published in 2002 and consequently had to find, but still a very good read on the classic period of the band. Not to mention the mercurial Jan, who like many great guitarists is a right royal pain in the @rse! £10 posted UK, which is a fair saving on what I paid on eBay…
