  1. Yamaha and Ampeg as a starter kit? you are living the dream mate! I love my Yams and the 4 stringer is an old beater, but still my 'go to' bass when gigging!
  2. Hello there! I have used both the fender rumble 15 and the 25 as home practice amps and would say either would suit your needs, the headphone jack is great because you can practice without annoying the family and the aux in means you can listen along with your own choice of mp3 I remember getting a real kick when I found I could play along to U2, With or Without You, when I first started (I was like you a late starter!) Whatever you have, remember we love to see pics of gear!!!
  3. *waves*
  4. Postcount is boogie...doesn't work in 'off topic'
  5. Yes.... I'll be there!
  6. that Leo cracks me up every time I see one of his vids...quite a character! A nice take on the song too...good find!
  7. Def a small world, Stew, the bassist from Sidewinder has depped with us a coupla times on vocals, lovely chap!
  8. I once got dragged out of bed to to a 70th birthday party for a band friend, rotten case of the flu, shivering and twitching so much I was actually picked up by a band mate (never happened again!) The hall his family had had picked had the worst acoustics in the county, not that I really noticed as I spent the whole gig propped against a wall, playing root notes and hoping to die. It was a 2 hander weekend too, the following night I don't even remember getting home, and had to get my good lady to give me a lift the following day to collect my car, and my rig......left in the pub. I got paid though, so autopilot is obviously a wonderful thing!
  9. Blue...ish I guess!
  10. I can relate to this, I've always loved music, hit so many gigs in my teens, but got married at 20 and responsibilities ain't cheap. Got my 1st bass when I was 42 and on the right side of the bills, mortgage etc. now I'm 58 and semi retired and gigging as much as I can (purely for fun). I guess one advantage of having kids young is by the time they all grow up we are both still young enough to enjoy ourselves!!
  11. I've played this song in bands for as long as I can remember and I've never played it drop D, more like our friend Constantine does it. Quite a fun line to play and the girlies always go for it!
  12. I use the Reidmar into a barefaced 2x10 and its a superloud amp, ..way more oomph for its rated 250W. Good luck selling Terry
  13. The then drummer in an old band organised a 2 man gig with his Brother on keys at a pub near me a few years ago, despite having a stinking cold I got roped in to come along and set up the lights for them. my plan was to do the business then retire home for the night, giving him instruction on how to break down the lighting rig, but I got conned to stick around. The gig was in a room above the bar, so his GF was appointed 'door duties' to drum up trade. After the 1st set, me mainly crashed out head down on a table, i looked up to see NO ONE there, even his GF was still downstairs (at the bar!) they had been playing to the top of my head for an hour! At this point I cried enough and left em to it, but I learned later they did the whole gig to nobody.
  14. Mind you, repotting the CEO raises some interesting mental images!!
  15. I love a bass that's a bit different, and this sure is.....where is the forward strap button? On the back of the top horn?
  16. Love the pic! Blowing a kiss to the camera??
  17. Definitely speak to Chris, he is super helpful, and should be able to sort out any problems you encounter!
  18. Cheers bud, it was made for my Squier which has the whole Steampunk thing going on, but it looked way too busy with this pickguard so I swapped em over...I must have a pic somewhere..... Buggeration..all I can find is this one, its got aged brass tuners and a copper coloured Bridge now!
  19. Oh well if we re posting Pics!! the RH one is a MIM in a lovely pearlescent gold with a custom pickguard bought from someone here on BC, and the LH one is a bitsa that came from Karlfer (god bless im) as an unfinished project and I did my own thing with it. I also have a modded Squier P/J, but that's in bits at the moment. Yup I love a good P!!!
  20. lol..can't say I'm much of a Stereophonics fan meself....takes all sorts eh?
  21. Thunder seem to do some amazing covers, which my band covers....we end up basically with a far more rocky version of the original which usually goes down well!!
  22. ha..so which 'back of the head' is yours then??
