  1. Cool thread, I'm looking at a PF800 with a 15 speaker & a 2 x 10 possibly, but then being a double bass player it's gonna be a whole different kettle of fish & it's gonna need to handle some killer lows with my sound!
  2. Hey Chris, Sent you a PM this morning :-)
  3. Hi Paul, I'd like to come & see the bass if possible & we can go from there if that's cool. I'm not too far from you, so if you could send me a PM please with your number, I'll give you a call! Thanks
  4. Interesting thread... Yes, Bill Haley Rocked out some awesome tunes, & if you think back to 1951, it was actually 'Rock The Joint" that started Rock 'n' Roll. Of course Dick, Joey & the recently passed on Marshall Lytle (an awesome bass player, great guy & friend of mine) left to form The Jodimars (I believe in 1955), so have a listen to that stuff too! Not to take anything away from any of the greats, oh, & someone should mention Benny Joy too :-)
  5. Anyone got any unusual double basses then? I'm not talking EUB's here, just unusual double basses!
  6. Merlin, 25 double Basses??? Surely not!
  7. Only 4 double basses, surely you must have room for some more... I wish I had 4
  8. I hope you got a refund from the luthier that did the job in the first place... failing that, I expect they are doing the re-fix for free & really should loan you an instrument FOC!
  9. I think thats a really excessive amount of time, & personally, I'd go round & view the bass & the progress & ask for an explanation. It sounds like he's also going to charge you an arm & a leg! At the end of the day, its your bass, remember that! I can recommend Henry Norton above, having had work carried out by him recently, so if it was me, I'd get the bass & take it to him! Good luck
  10. A friend of mine has a Chubby Jackson! He won't part with it though... Unfortunately!
  11. Don't you have one in your gear list, or do you want a 2nd one?
  12. South Wales... that's no problem, come on a road trip. I can guarantee you'll find it well worthwhile & we can do a very long lesson if you like. It's not the distance you need to travel that's important, it's what you get out of the journey!
  13. Hiya, i may be interested in the 5 string double bass, so could you please PM me some details about it. Thanks
  14. Awesome... Just can't get it in the car with a Double Bass! good luck!

  17. Nothing beats the feel of a Double Bass & the sound it gives you is just warming when played correctly. I would however suggest something with a bit of mojo to it!
  18. Hi, I may be interested & am free, but what is the music please? Thanks
  19. P.S. That's not my photo, it's Marshall Lytle from The Comets playing one of my basses!
  20. Hi Daf, I'm a Rockabilly Double Bass player, been playing double bass for over 15 years on the Rockin' scene, which I'm heavily involved with :-) How do you fancy a Rockabilly trying these strings out, coz I'd love to! Hope to hear back from you, Regards, Markus
  21. She's a 1958 Futurama Paul, & about as rare as "Rockin' horse s**t" Fully working & nice & safe in a hand built flight case. Shame you can't restore yours to full glory, now that would be a cool project!
  22. Damn shame about this, I would have had it if it hadn't been altered, would have sat nicely with my 1950's stick bass!
