1. wow, I wish I had the funds. good luck with the sale!
2.
[s]I use the volume control on my bass a lot. I didn't for years but[/s] I play around with both volume & tone a lot [s]now[/s].
this.
3. vintage basses sound better? some do and some don't.
4. update: epifani ul502 on SAD 1/12H, with ultrasmall and ultralight rig on top. in front my 3 main basses:
5.
Here we go, then... the idea is to have an all-valve big-rig sound, but without the 'big cab' bit of the big rig... Schroeder 1212L (4ohm), Burman MPA and Burman SL100, all on a Quik-Lok BS-625 dual-platform stand. No hernia-tastic!
I like this!
6.
This I like a lot!
EPIC!
7.
I watched a bit, but I found it didn't interest me so I switched off. No disrespect to the Gwizmon, but I don't really dig what he does. I always hope peeps with those kind of very high skill, experience and knowledge levels would really push the boundaries and execute some really beautiful music that has finesse and panache - lush harmony, gorgeous melody, punch, drive, power, saturated with emotion - but everything he does sounds mundane and unimaginative to my ears. And I have a deep aversion for his scat singing, there's something very weird and uncomfortable about it for me. He does talk sense though, he seems like a good mentor.
yep, I agree in most points nige. I was also expecting some more "magic", but the discussion was ok so far. only not interesting enough to keep me awake any longer. good night.
8. learn to listen really well and don't be afraid to hit wrong notes. aside being taught play to music that inspires you a lot. and play, play, play...
9. ...on basss and in the video! enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ddWCbT7cIdo
10. I'd vote for no. 1, too. his story sounds much more band compatible.
11. can't tell. I like all in this thread a lot. especially 65days of static, kit richardson and casino. edit: and I love ingrid of london zulu.
12.
Polytune Mini serves me well.
it definately will if you only need A=440Hz.
13. are you looking for the grail of pedal tuners or the best bang for the buck? tc polytune works fine as does the korg pitchblack, but peterson strobo stomp classic is probably more accurate.
14. had to choose hangers, but the acoustic is in its case, 1 on the wall, the 1 from the last gig in the gigbag and the other 2 are on guitar stands with hangers.
15.
Ovnilab: http://www.ovnilab.com/
thanks lozz, this is what I had forgotten.
16. there was a good site with tests and comparisons of most compressor pedals somewhere which was great, if only I could remember where it was. my result of this was to buy a xotic sp compressor. it is very small, simple to use and is a parallel compressor that sounds very good both with guitar and bass to my ears.
17.
That should do it. The preamp is is very important to get the fullest sound - the Baggs should do the job well.. Enjoy!
thank you, I do!

due to some modifications, my guitars and pedalboards in front of my homestudio rig:
19. problem solved: a guitarplaying friend of mine is building piezos for doublebass, and made me this system for some small money. I use it with a L.R. Baggs Para DI and it sounds HUGE and sounds very close to a double Bass with the labella nylons. I'm more than happy with it.
20. I didn't read all the comments but I had the pleasure to try some older american mades and newer skyline basses. I am sorry I have to say this, but there is a HUGE difference between these. skyline models are nice, but older usa mades are really fantastic instruments that can do jb,pb and mm close enough. BUT - even these ones you'll have to play 1st, before you spend some big money.
21. I can't call it "gig" but it sure rocked the club for quite a few "songs" on an open jam last night. It is so blessing if you are able to create something really great together with some phenominal artists who carry you further than you would have been able to walk on your own...
22.
A great overlooked band " the sound stylistics" featuring our very own gaz66, here is "Knucklehead." comon gary get it back together..... waitin. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGEVm_DRiCE
love it!
23. Usually on the drummers hi-hat side, so mostly center stage left center depending on stage size.
