  1. I'd like to make bassmanady an offer for his BB NE 2, so I need to put my TRB5P mk 1 up for sale. This is a Japanese TRB5P mark 1 dating from 1991, with Piezo bridge pickup and PJ configuration. Controls are volume, blend, bass, treble, piezo cut and a switch to turn piezo on and off. It's neck-through construction with a flamed maple cap on a maple body and an ebony fretboard. There is a little fret wear but it's hardly noticeable and doesn't affect playability of the instrument. Condition is not perfect - there is one bit of mojo, a scratch on the top side of the body which has gone through the finish, but this isn't visible to either player or audience. Other than that, the bass is in excellent condition for a 20-year-old instrument with no buckle rash and only the usual light surface scratches. Sound wise this is an incredible bass, a veritable tone monster. I tried all three of bassmanady's TRBs and this one was the best-sounding of the three, with stronger lower mids and more presence. It's set up with a low action and passes the Kiwi test (a £1 coin won't fit between the 'B' string and the 12th fret) with new D'Addarios. String spacing is 19mm at the bridge. Unfortunately I don't have the original Yamaha case, but a Thomann tweed case is included. Realistically priced to sell at £500 plus shipping. I'd prefer pickup from Ipswich or London, or a meet-up reasonably local to Ipswich. Here are some photos, if you need more views of anything just ask!
  2. [quote name='yorks5stringer' timestamp='1354391405' post='1885561'] Was there any live Bass with S2S?..... [/quote] Don't think there was a bass guitar. All done with synths.
  3. Should be fine. I use a Tecamp Puma 110 as a monitor for me and the drummer, works perfectly.
  4. Relegated? Promoted!!
  5. You could try an Artec SE3 preamp instead - I've got one in a Bass Collection and it works well.
  6. Has panto season started already?
  7. Think the fingerboard is highly unlikely to be rosewood - I thought all Status Graphite fingerboards were a man-made material called phenolic.
  8. Not great for people who don't use Facebook. Please can you email me the pictures or put them on Photobucket.
  9. Very cool. I have a Vintage with the same neck, it plays brilliantly. BTW, if you include the 'IMG Code' rather than the Email/Html link, the pictures will magically appear in the thread. Like this: [IMG]http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q693/Karl_Altdorfer/IMG_0545.jpg[/IMG] [IMG]http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q693/Karl_Altdorfer/IMG_0544.jpg[/IMG] [IMG]http://i1354.photobucket.com/albums/q693/Karl_Altdorfer/IMG_0543.jpg[/IMG]
  10. Karl, Stick the pictures on Photobucket and include the image tags in your posting.
  11. EBS Neoline 2x12. I love mine so much I'm going to be buried in it, so it's not for sale.
  12. A delete button would be a great loss. It's very handy to be able to view old For Sale threads in the current forum when you're trying to price an item (for sale or purchase). I'm also guessing that the picture on the forum listings isn't showing up because the picture upload facility doesn't work. An option to make it all smaller would be an improvement: currently on my laptop I can see about 10 listings on the old forum, but only 3 or 4 on the new one.
  13. [quote name='bassmanady' timestamp='1353182146' post='1872573'] Hi Pete,no thanks mate, that blue TRB5P is a tone monster, but i have really settled on the passive tone of my RBV [/quote] OK, I'll take some photos tomorrow and see if I can drum up some cut-price interest in it!
  14. Is it possible to somehow reduce the size of the individual listings? 60 items on a page is a great idea, but may become not so appealing if the page is 19 screens full of data
  15. Somehow I missed this. I don't suppose you fancy your blue TRB5P back plus cash your way?
  16. Alex, If you can get hold of a book called 'Live Sound for the Performing Musician' by Paul White, it's well worth a read and has lots of information that I found really useful about mikes, mixers, and all kinds of other stuff to do with live sound.
  17. [quote name='paulconnolly' timestamp='1351457236' post='1851450'] Today's Sunday Times culture section has an article on Larry Graham claiming that "he did for electric bass what Jimi Hendrix did for electric guitar". Well did he? [/quote] Whoever wrote that article had clearly never heard of Colin Hodgkinson.
  18. Weird bits and bobs include a complete failure of the 'Classifieds' tab tonight on Firefox 16.0.2, generating the following: Fatal error: Call to a member function category_view() on a non-object in /opt/basschat/upload/admin/applications_addon/other/classifieds/modules_public/core/core.php on line 245 Also the picture of Kiwi's old Celinder seems to have disappeared. Other than that , Firefox seems to be working normally, but IE8 and Chrome both generate very different views of the site. Seems like there's work to do , good luck.
  19. Seriously good deal. I bought a new MG206C and flight case a couple of months ago and didn't get much change out of £600.
  20. Sorry, I misread this as 'Carry On Jools'. OOh , Matron!
  21. [quote name='alyctes' timestamp='1352767637' post='1867326'] Play it on a bass instead [/quote] Or a tuba. Or two. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=piOAFI8eCdM
  22. The name Bass Collection is still owned by The Bass Centre, now reduced to a mail-order and on-line only trading outlet. The last Speakeasy I looked at was made in China, so there's not much in common between the original Japanese SGC Nanyo instruments and the current offering. Bass Centre site isn't very forthcoming on specifications, unfortunately.
  23. +1 for line level. Regarding banjo, what I do with mine is pickup -> preamp -> Roland AC60 amp (monitor) and then use the Roland as a DI to the desk. If you need to damp the head, usually a sponge or a scarf, towel or similar inbetween the top tensioning rod and the skin will do the trick. The pickup on my 5-string goes right up against the bottom of the bridge under the skin and doesn't need anything extra to stop it feeding back. My tenor has a pickup built into the bridge and that doesn't seem to have a problem with feedback, though I'm not using any monitors off the main desk and that might be a factor,
  24. Of the two links, the Deering will be a better banjo to play, though the Epiphone looks nice. andybanjo.com is a good place to check out and I was also going to suggest Eagle Music in Huddersfield - www.eaglemusicshop.com However, there is a guy on ebay at the moment who seems to be sitting on a huge stock of Tanglewood MB24 and flogging them off at serious discounts - here's one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GOOD-QUALITY-5-STRING-G-BANJO-REMO-SKIN-ROSEWOOD-BRIDGE-HEARTS-FLOWERS-INLAYS-/360505969671?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Sting_Instruments&hash=item53efd48c07 . I bought one of these a couple of months ago and it's a decent bargain.
  25. Gah, what have they done to photobucket! It's been a while since I went there. There's an 'Upload' tab in the top menu bar which will let you load your picture into the 'Library' . Or you can create what they now call a 'Story' just for pics of your bass. Once you've done that, if you mouse over the picture a little graphic of a cog wheel appears in the top right hand corner. Hover over that and a menu pops up with a bunch of choices - the one you want is 'get media links'. Select that and a dialog box appears with 4 things in it. You want the bottom one, called IMG code. Left click on that and the code disappears, to be replaced by the word 'Copied' on a yellow background. Now go to the Basschat message you were composing, and paste the IMG code into the message. Job done.
