We are at the excellent Bay Horse in Sudbury, for the third year running. They go to great lengths to decorate the pub and bands and customers are expected to turn up in fancy dress. Last year the barmaid spent 4 hours making up her face to look like it had all started to fall off - fantastic. We love it, it's a top night and a great gig. I have Status half round on my duesenberg star short scale, really good sound, not completely dead but not zingy in the slightest. Medium length because of the tailpiece. A bit more tension than the ti flats I had on my precision but not as much as chromes.
Yep, the blue one is, disregard the green one! I have been having problems posting my pictures as they all seem to be too big and I cant easily resize them. Every time I post a picture I have to delete another one from one of my other adverts.....
Put them on Photobucket and include the <IMG> tags in your posting.

Five String Jazz Basses talk to me?! NOW A NBD THREAD !!!!!
pete.young replied to stingrayPete1977's topic in Bass Guitars
A used Yamaha BBNE2 would be within your budget. I have one and it has completely cured my 5-string GAS. -
Xilddx used one of these as the basis for his Lion of Judah build. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/217816-the-xilddx-zulu-bass-now-finished/page__hl__jaguar

Playing in a Folk band that already has a Cello
pete.young replied to Rainbass's topic in Theory and Technique
Bellowhead seem to manage OK with cello and bass , OK helicon but the same principle applies. Cello doesn't have to play bass lines! -

Nice article, thanks for the link. RIP Rory, much missed.

New band Mixing desk advice - Basschat team assemble!!
pete.young replied to Me And My Bass's topic in Accessories and Misc
12XLR is quite a lot - if you can manage with 10 the Yamaha MG166CX would be a good choice. I have the MG206C which has 16, but no built-in effects. -
Thanks for all the helpful suggestions. I have a Puma 110 combo, so I might give that a go and see how it copes. I've been trying to buy other pickups, but always seem to be too slow out of the blocks.

If anyone is looking to upgrade and wants to move on an old-style one, please let me know. It's a last resort to getting a decent sound out of my BP-100, having pretty much failed with an ADI21 and a Phil Jones Briefcase.

South East Bass Bash No.8, Surrey, Saturday 1st November 2014

Can't make this one unfortunately, I have a gig. Have a lovely time. -
No contest, second hand peavey any time. Get two if they are half the price. That picture doesn't look like a 410TVX, they had a higher rating (700w) and a red logo plate. Seek out one of them or the earlier 410TX, great sounding cabs for the money if you can cope with the weight. There is a Laney stack in our rehearsal room with 4x10 and 1x15. It sounds horrible whatever you do to it and my tecamp puma 110 combo is louder and sounds better.

Cheapo crappy strings - anyone found some good one's??????
pete.young replied to Shonks's topic in Accessories and Misc
Www.web strings.com are pretty good for 12 dollars a set. -
others I love these, I did have a TRB1005 for a while and loved the sound but found it a bit unwieldy..
I had a TRB5P mk1, which was a brilliant bass with an immense B string, neck through construction, easily available in your budget. I only sold mine to buy a BBNE2, which is even better. It's not impossible to find a BBNE2 under a grand on the used market. What's missing from your list is Bass Collection SGC Nanyo - it's not quite in the same league as the Yamahas but its pretty close, and can be picked up for a lot less money. I have one of those too and with a decent pre-amp it kicks sand in the face of various Ibanez and Fender offerings that I've tried. If you can increase your budget by a bit : Fender Roscoe Beck 5 - they're a totally different ball game to the rest of Fenders 5-string offerings IMHO and its very definitely a buyers market.
2 Mackie subs are more than capable of taking some bass guitar at pub volume, why will the voacls be going down there, are they a Barry White tribute show? I am saying in with that PA
I'd say in , too. Makes it much easier for whoever is controlling the FOH sound if they only have to deal with the FOH, and not worry about the contribution from the backline (especially if you are in the habit of fiddling with it during the gig!) .
