2. Tech Soundsystems ND 412S 4x12 Neodymium cab for sale. 1200 W 4 Ohm. Weight 26 Kg / 57 lb. In excellent condition. Includes a fitted padded cover. Has a tweeter with several settings including an 'off' setting, and a jack input for a footswitch to turn it on and off. Now SOLD More information and specifications here; http://www.tech-soun...g/12er/412.html This cab gives a massive sound with loads of punch. I love this cab but it is much more than I need for my current band, who are complaining that it's too loud. It's either find a new cab or a new band, so I'm trying this route first! Given the size of this cab, shipping is likely to be a problem. Collection from Ipswich is fine and I may be able to deliver it within about an hour's radius for fuel costs, or you can arrange your own courier. Not really looking for trades. Here are some pictures, more can be provided on request:
3. I'll take the NJ5 set if it's still available. Pm sent.
4.
Got mine at GAK on Friday - they arrived with them on Thursday. I only find that it's a bit of a stretch very low down on the B/E strings. The rest of the spacings are pretty normal, so much so I've been playing for a few hours now & don't even have to think about it. I can thoroughly recommend it!
Trip to Brighton on the cards then! Can you measure the string spacing at the bridge for us and pop it on the bathroom scales?
5. Try http://www.lidwishsoulutions.com/ I'm sure the irony won't be lost on everyone :-)
6. Yes, we have a beer festival gig at the amazing Locks Inn, Geldeston. Which is nowhere near London, Warwick or anywhere else!
7. Roland VB-99 has some wonderful double bass patches.
8.
Here we go - got mine yesterday, have played it a fair bit at home, gigging it tonight.
Excellent, where did you get yours from ? I tried a Dingwall and it wasn't comfortable. The spacing is just a bit too big for me,
9. Manraj bought a DB pickup from me, great transaction, recommended.
10. So how does this compare with your 65 precision?
11. There arent really any shortcuts to this. If you don't want to pay for an Akai Deep Impact, the Korg G5 is a reasonable option. There is also a good G5 emulator in the Zoom MS-60B and B1Xon but to get the best out of it you need to spend some time blending envelope filters, distortion etc with the basic synth effects.
12. If you can make it as far as Ipswich, I recommend Dave Parker , http://www.guitarlodge.co.uk/ . He's done servicing work for me on Burman and made a good job of it. When I was there, he was rebuilding an original Ampeg flip-top. Turn around was pretty good - a couple of weeks.
13. What a fabulous colour. Whereabouts are you based?
14. The Tony Levin has a preamp, the MM3 does not, it has one tone control and two volume controls. There is a thread somewhere on here by neepheid who put an Artec preamp into an olp, it is called something like "pimp mah olp".
15.
The proposed 4x12 perspex cab alone would weigh circa 24 kilos even with neodymiums. (Four neo speakers = 8 kilos. 13 sq foot of half inch plexi at 1.3 kilos per sq foor = 17 kilos). Add in a 200w head and we're talking maybe 51 kilos.
Skank I think you are slightly out of whack because he was talking about a 4x10 not a 4x12. Even so it would be a struggle. I own what i think is the lightest ever 4x12, tech sound system nds412 and that is 27kg.
16. I haven't tried the Markbass, but the Sonuus i2M I had was much worse than either the SYB5 or the Behringer clone. Latency is bad and I couldn't play anything faster than 1/8 notes, and there are additional problems with pitch variation unless your fretting is immaculately clean. Mine isn't perfect, but I'd like to think it's at least average. I have also used a Korg G5 which was great, and the Zoom clones in the likes of the MS60B are not bad either - all of these are much more useable than an i2M. I have the Roland VB99 which is far superior to any of the above for synth sounds, but comes with it's own problems. I haven't tried using the VB99 as a midi controller, maybe I will get round to it one day.
17.
Looking at keys at the minute Wil but would also like midi in to have option of using a midi controller from the Bass.
I wouldn't bother trying to use a bass guitar with a midi controller. My experience with i2m was loads of latency even if your technique is super clean. Better results every time by playing the keyboard.
18. I have a Xiosynth X25 for sale which would do admirably well. http://basschat.co.uk/topic/214865-novation-xiosynth-25/
19. No specific experience but I've had a couple of alpine head units now and they have both been first rate.

Korg G5

I had one, and it was great fun. I sold mine when I went on to V-Bass. Mined Ewe, there is a very very good emulation of it in the Zoom MS60B and B1Xon.
21. Now £35 shipped.
22. I think you can now get DI boxes which work off a speaker output, though I've never used one.
23. If all else fails batteries are relatively cheap
24.
Bump I will look into postage options for this , given a little time I will see at suitable packaging materials etc
Check out your local cycle shop, they often have large quantities of quality cardboard boxes that they are happy to give away.
