1. Didn't knew Charlie Sheen lived in Nashville and played bass...
2. And the Pawn Shop Mustang Bass was an instant love for me. I love the concept behind this little fella - basically a short scale beginner's bass with the most powerful Fender pickup installed, plus the pinstripes - it's just like it's namesake car, Ford Mustang - a simple toy for power freaks (and that's a compliment). I love it, I love it, I love it. If I ever return to my previous line of work (and thus return to my previous income), I swear I'll buy this baby right away. As about the power of the pickup - I'd have simply installed a push/pull potentiometer, adding a series/parallel switching. Making a one pickup bass more versatile is NEVER a sin, mark my words on that
3.
i'm thinking of loading it with some tape wound's ( have them on all my basses). i'm a big fan of these. http://www.daddario....e?activeid=1905
I use Rotosound 88 TruBass on my Telecaster bass (the same pickup, but in neck position) and they seem to be made for each other. Tapewounds are just great.
4. After all I heard about Behringer (and the opinions were "Meh." at best), I finally tried and pretty much had my opinion permanently made. I plugged a bass (Squier VM TB) into a valve Behringer amp in a guitar shop one day. Gain was set to 3 in 10 points scale, the same was volume. Guess how many notes I played? About 5-7. Then the amp made a "puff!" sound and was done for. Dunno if it was a tube or something else, but I had to turn that contraption off and call the staff. Sorry, first impressions DO count.
5. Thanks for finding that vid. I love that album (duh!, who doesn't?), I'll watch this soon.
6. My opinion: Black P-Bass/J-Bass with white pickguard is boring. But I saw so many awesome black basses that I vote on "cool". Heck, replace that white pickguard with a tort one and it goes from dull to cool. Black matte lacquer looks particularly awesome in my opinion. Very glossy black finish has this one irritating issue - fingerprints, fingerprints everywhere! But nonetheless - black is cool. Oh, and if my bass would look dull for me after a while but sounded perfect to me, I wouldn't swap it for the same model in a different colour. Too much at stake, as we know two basses of the same model and year could sound completely different.
7. I realised the fact that the problem is within me about a year ago and my GAS suddenly decreased to 30-40% of the previous state. I know I never be a good player, but it doesn't really matter to me. I paid a sh**tload of quid to get my gear but in the end it DID MADE ME HAPPY for quite a while, so I don't complain. As for the sound, I'm quite sure that one mod I'm about to do with my Tele Bass (adding a hi-output single PU near the bridge) is actually everything I need to be satisfied with the sound. Then, of course, I'll start buying ridiculous analogue effects just for sport, but, hey... We live only once (as long as we aren't Buddhists).
8. Currently I'm only using the internet shops 'cause they have anything I need in good prices and I know that if anything goes wrong, they'll do everything to fix it. That's why I chose "combination". I'd like to have an affordable shop with nice service around, but as for now it's usually "or/or" choice, so I stick with the net stores. But it's nice to see that more people care 'bout good service than low prices. I work in a video games store and we have some clients who want to buy at our store despite the fact our prices are usually higher than in a nearby supermarket, 'cause they know they can chat about the games with us. But yesterday I had a client who said something like "sorry, your prices are at the supermarket level, you gotta do something extra for me to be your client". What can I do apart from chatting with clients, discussing trends and convincing them to choose not the more expensive game, but the better one? Sheesh. By the way, the topic of "Store Clerk Pains" should exist here somewhere... Once I'll get out of this mess, I plan never to work in a store again. People suck.
9. The Humbucker+Jazz one seems to be made for me. So I'm going to get one and make it even more Vintage and more Modified.
10. Maybe someone wanted to make a garotte for killing elephants? Roto 66's E sound like a perfect string to make it. But, seriously, what others said: call them and they'll probably replace it with sincere apologies.
11.
I've just re-read this and realised my reply sounds seriously rude! Apologies, Immo, it was meant to sound purely jokey - there is no reason why anything about music in Mitteleuropa should be any more trivial than anything about the UK or the rest of the world
No offence taken, I know what you meant .
12. If you'd ever need some help with topics like "trivia: how's the bass industry in Middle Europe" or something, anything, I'd gladly help
13. Simply: 1. Fundamental Sound - nothing else delivers P sound or J sound better, than, well, P and J. 2. Basic comfort - not to everyone, but, well... Big F set the standards, now doesn't it? For me, in example, MiJ P-Bass neck is THE bass neck; nothing's better. 3. Years of history & tradition - what can I say...? 4. The Brand's name - it opens many doors, for good or for ill. Unfortunately, in Poland, on many public gigs like those on TV, the sound guys would not let you on stage without Fender or Music Man... But, anyway, you feel really GOOD with the Big F logo. 5. The X-Factor. I don't know what is it, but nothing's like the good ol' trustworthy Big F.
14. Huge Rotosound fan. Their rounds (66 Swing) blown my socks off installed on my Peavey T-40, their flats (77 Jazz) are indomitable and solid as an anchor chain, while there's nothing better than a set of tapes (88 TruBass) for my beloved 70's style Telecaster Bass for that Double-Bass-On-Steroids Sound.
15. Damn, I've sworn to never do this again, but a friend's friend asked me to help him to buy a cheap but good bass and this little gem first came to my mind. If I'd arrange a reliable courier who'd came and pick her up (that courier company already delivered two basses + stuff for me from UK to Poland with neither problems nor damage), would you agree to sell her to me?
16. To me it's a guy who came to a garage-sale-sorta-event and found a bass guitar with somewhat familiar name 'Fender' on it, so he bought it to sell to a highest bidder. Or at least I hope so. I kinda like this a bit slab body (TeleBass!), yet the neck wood disturbs me, looks a bit like beech.
17. I bought my Fender Precision totally spontaneous and despite the fact everybody HERE were sceptic. She had some faults and definitely wasn't the top-notch bass, but I'm really happy I bought her and modded her to my preferences
18. My eyes keep on bleeding and there's nothing I can do about this vicious haemorrhage. Ah, woe! Where are the Fender Vigilantes when they're needed?
19. Maybe WMD Geiger Counter (either normal or Civilian Issue)? It's OD, but it delivers nice fuzzy tones.
20.
Getting the urge to add a Precision at some point as well, although got a few pedals to get my hands on first!
If I'd need a second complete rig, I'd pretty much print this picture, take it to the guitar shop and wave it in the air, screaming.
21. Answered your questions, glad I could help. Good luck!

23.
I'd gig one for a laugh
Same here as well. Unfortunately, this would probably mean an end of my career as Poles are not quite tolerant But I'll buy a blue flower pickguard for my T-40, that's for sure. EDIT: Oh, and the Squier Badtz Maru Bronco Bass - I gotta have this.

HELLO!

Hello there! Good luck. Oh, nice bass of Name-Which-Cannot-Be-Mentioned-On-The-Safe-Side
25. I'd really suggest you to try Artec pickups. They're cheap, they're - unfortunately - not very sturdy and a bit poorly manufactured in terms of being solid, but they have a decent sound. But for 50 quid you'll be able to find some nicer pickups of better quality, I guess.
