1. Sounds very reasonable.
My favourite Level 42 song. Hue and Cry can take a run and jump. They charged £500 to appear for a charity gig.
2. An early shout-out for the annual Spangler Xmas bash. We're back in a 'proper' pub this year, so it's free entry and real beer! Rock, pop and soul from us lot, [s]and fingers-crossed some special guests too.[/s] plus a special acoustic set from Minnie and the Victors.
3. Hey Jamie, welcome! Hoping to catch up with you guys on the 21st Dec. Jez.
4. Eeeh...I bought my Kubicki Factor off Paul Geary back in 1991-ish. Blast from the past.
5.
No takers?
If it's £100, yes. If it's £700, no. Throw us a bone here?
6. Bought a Cort G250 g**tar from a bloke for £60 - a bargain in itself. then he went upstairs and brought down a Wesley P-bass with a huge crack across it. "You can have that for nowt if you like - I dropped it". Turns out the crack is just in the finish and for a cheapo bass it plays and sounds surprisingly good. I think the crack looks kinda cool too!
7. Line 6 are giving away their Pod Farm plug-in through September. The only catch is you'll need a compatible Line 6 product or an iLok key. Haven't tried it myself but it sounds like a good deal, it apparently has "10 bass amps and cabs". More here: Line 6
8. Oh yes, I also had the tuning key-clash problem. Make sure you get the positioning right before you drill any extra holes!!
9. I had one installed for a short while but found the shifted tuning too confusing. It was basically a case of 'aim two frets higher than normal on the bottom string' whenever it was in dropped mode. Maybe it was a harder for me as I'm used to the drop-D on a Kubicki Factor where everything stays the same. A much better system in my opinion!
10. First wedding gig after a bit of a quiet patch a couple of weeks ago, not least because our singer broke his leg. So, we loaded-up Ironside onto the stage in his wheelchair, wondering if it was all going to hang together. Best gig in ages! An up-for-it crowd from the off. Plenty of good breeding on display and some GAS money in my back pocket at the end of the night. Indeed, what's not to like?
11. An audio sample - D major from 3rd fret position: Recorded dry through a Tascam FW1082 hi-z input.
12. If I've got the right Chris, the same part of Newcastle your Trace 4x10 came from
Which part of Newcastle are you in? Your attractive price and stunning bass are doing nothing to help my gas. Now, if I were to buy that and get it defretted...
13. A few pics. It was starting to get dark, so not the best. Can supply further pics to interested parties.
14. Update: withdrawn for now, can't bear to let it go. Mark 1 TRB6, made in Japan, cherry-burst finish, superb professional instrument. A couple of marks including one on the neck, but nothing serious. Complete with Yamaha case (which has seen better days but still does the job). 34" scale, 19mm spacing. £500.
15. Set times put back half an hour to 10, 11 and midnight. It might be the last time we play here...
16. Jeez, what a dumbass... Mr Lynch in Jesmond.
17. Would you believe the first time back here this year - the recession has bitten and 5-piece bands are rationed! Anyway, first 'seems quiet tonight' set at 9.30pm, the 'definitely livening up a bit' set at 10.30pm and the 'whoo it's packed - I am a rock god' set at 11.30pm. Free to get in before 10 (fiver after). Rock, pop, funk and soul for your aural pleasure. And you can dance if you want to. There are usually girls and everything. Proper beer is a bit lacking but hey, you can't have everything (it seems).
18. Eeh...I remember auditioning with Thomas back in the early 90's down the Hoults estate. I think my hair was too short at the time - that's my excuse anyway. Oz (now with Nick Pride and the Pimptones) was on drums. I also went to school with the lad whose dad owned Rock City.
19. Maybe you could start your own DLR tribute using a laptop and this: clicky (Give it a wee minute to load)
20. I have one of these - I believe it is the best practice amp there is. The sound is so round and detailed. Lovely.
21. Hi WoT, I introduced myself near the end but my moniker may have been drowned-out by heavy artillery. Nice to (sort of) meet you anyway! The amp is indeed a PJB Briefcase. A lovely little thing, but somewhat out-gunned this afternoon!! So, who wants to sell me an Overwater Jazz 5?
That was Ba55me15ter? Dammit... I didn't realise.
22. Someone's got a bargain - great bass.
