1. I'm now being really picky and wishing it had a matching headstock (I know Flea's doesn't) that would make it a 9/10 for me instead of a lowly 8.5/10. Are these on the Fender site yet, I have money burning a hole in my pocket
2. argh - I can't get my money out quick enough for this... My RW is stunning and leagues better than the US and Japanese Fenders i own, I'm also a sucker for shell pink and stacked pots. I'm a happy boy
3. John's some pretty special guitars on stage. really enjoyed in, much better than the last time I saw them (Reading 1996!) If anyone wan't to see the setlist it's on my instagram wearethenames
4. Hello from Otley.. lovely bass GLWTS
5. I have a Wooly Mammoth clone from Little Bear that's surplus to requirements. Basically I have too many dirt pedals and not enough space on my board. Would be happy to trade for a pedal train, some boss pedal (I need a new tu3) big muff ( I know, more dirt) Cheers Neil
6. I love my Road Worn Jazz. Best bass I have ever played, much prefer it to my US P. I'd have another if they did them in nicer colours
7. $670 ? £600ish then. i'll check my piggybank
8. How much do these go for new and s/h? I quite fancy one!
9. Yes the cab wasn't mic'ed and it was a cheep DI box so that may explain it.
10. I have a 2009 Fender Road Worn Jazz which I totally love. It feels great, really nicely worn in and resonates when playing. it always sounds good live too. We did some studio work this week and I took it down. when DI'd it sounded awful. Quite thin and toppy even with old flat wounds and the tone rolled off. Even soloed on the neck pickup. Swapped to my USA P and it sounded much deeper and fuller. I can only put this down to the mex pickups in the RW Jazz now being the same quality as pickups in a 2001 USA P. Does this sound correct ? I might have to keep the Jazz as a live only bass.
11. Stunning - I would love this bass if funds (ie the missus) allowed.
12. I still fancy a NM but my wife would kill me seeing as I bought a US P 2 months ago
13. the Fender Road Worn series have nice checking.
14. I love a blue veined instrument! Let us know how the build goes, I'd love to be in your position
15. Do these still have actual Badass bridges or a Fender version?
16.
You're very welcome - glad things have come together better . . . If it needs shimming - it needs shimming. . . a quick check I like to see is if the saddles, when adjusted all the way to the deck, are putting the strings lying on the frets or very nearly.
And they were, no shim required cheers! Really useful tip. Took it all back and then started again, now set up as per the setting in the thread above and it's playing really well. I think my issue is switching between a flat strung Jazz and rounds on a P
17. Cheers that's tonight sorted. I have a feeling the neck needs shimming though
18. Thanks! Thats the one - not sure why I couldn't find it...it's a great guide
19. I found a thread on here with a very simple and straight forward set up guide with cleve tips about measuring action height with allen keys. I should have bookmarked it but didn't anyone know the one I mean ? I need to do some work on my bass as it plays a bit like a dog
20.
we go for around 250, theres five of us so that 50 quid each, which seems reasonable
I thought so too, but if you get there at 6 and leave at midnight as we usually do £8.33 seams a poor hourly rate for "skilled work" ?
21. I think I suffer from undercharging for our band. Typical Pub gig is £180 to £200 £250 for Parties £? for weddings as the two we have booked have both just split up!! Are we about right ? I'm a musician and don't like talking money for my art maaaan!
