1. Mine is really nice, the set up needs a minor tweek as they all seam to have. a little less relief on the truss rod and action taking down a smidge, but it's perfectly playable as is.
2. I also saw it on cash converters. I love that site, I picked up my USA P from CC last year for an absolute song!
3.
You know, I may joke, but actually I would much prefer a 9lb jazz to an 8lb personally!
It was almost 10!
4.
Where did it go back to so we can avoid getting it You should have kept it and called it Ms Piggy
Guitar Guitar, I couldn't believe the weight after seeing the other early buyers getting light ones
5.
Lose value these Flea signatures, particularly the heavy ones. I mean, your a nice guy, ill give you £200 for the fatty......
Thanks for the kind offer It's gone back today,
6. Number 2 has arrived. it's light as a feather at a smudge over 8lbs. a 1.5lb difference between the two! Set up's great, I'm not sure how long I'll put up with roundwonds but we'll see. I'll be playing it in anger on Thursday and I'll get picks of the two roadworns together then
7. have now received both mine. The first one was a bit of a porker at 9.5lb! Hoping for a lighter second one. Comparison pics tonight I hope
8. I have send through Interparcel and insured it. Cost £30 but cheep compared to the piece of mind if a £880 bass goes missing. Thanks for all your help
9. I have just used DHL through interparcel. You can insure for 2% of value.
10. I can't be arsed to drive it there! It's a Flea bass going back to GuitarGuitar
11. It's boxed and packed well but who are the best people to use to ship a bass, it's only going to Brum but will need insurance. Ta
12.
Thanks! Also, I always check string/neck alignment before anything else. I've seen many basses with either a misaligned bridge or the neck isn't in the pocket correctly, etc. This is perfect. Small matter but it is nice to see it as it should be.
How is this checked ?
13. Has anyone put flats on one yet. I have flats on my other RW. Rounds feel cheep and nasty to me after using flats for years
14. The only niggles with my first one is that the board looks a little dry, nothing that a dab of lemon oil wont fix, and the pick guard looks...dusty? The board on my 2009 RW is lovely and dark and the pickguard is nicly worn/shiney/dull in all the right places. I think that's just because of 7 years of use and the Flea bass will age just as nicely. I have a MIM, CIJ and US Fender and quality is equally good on them all
15.
Since you will have two next to each other at some point, something that few people will have the opportunity to see, it would be interesting to know how close the relicing is if indeed the marks and scars do mirror the original instrument. Just for fun
I will do when they are both here, along with my sb RW
16. My (first one) arrived yesterday, I only had a 20 second play but initial impressions - it's a heavy relic but looks great, nice colour, stacked pots are a nice touch. The neck and fingerboard aren't as worn in as my sunburst RW but that's not surprising seeing as that's a 7 year old bass and has been well played. It sounds good and vibrant acoustically though I'm not a fan of rounds, set up felt OK but not enough time to check it. I'll see how the other one compares when it arrives in the next day or so.
17.
njr911 will have a spare. Maybe you two should talk?
Yeah. I'm sure I can get my spare to you for less than £1,000 inc postage
18.
For some reason I can't quote on a work PC, but agree with you there Beedster! I like that Sandberg are basically making classic basses with modern features, but the new style bodyshapes don't suit the wear. It must be so ingrained in our brains that it is mainly Fender guitars and basses that look great worn in. I've recently seen some high end Les Paul guitars by a boutique manufacturer. Must be like £3K +. The relic look really looks awful on them. I don't know why. I think Les Pauls and SGs look better with very very light wear instead of the proper relic look.
and a Les Paul with minimal wear but a lot of fade makes me horny!
19.
You know the rules - pics or your dick didn't happen.
I'll get my wide angle lens out !
20. The first of my brace arrives today, I think it will have to go back to GuitarGuitar Still the second one arrives on Thursday Haha what a dick!
21. Because it's based on a 61 and that's how they did it. Same as reverse tuners
22. The moral of the story. Don't order basses in Staiths with no 4g it will end in an 1800 credit card bill.
23. Because I'm an idiot I have managed to order 2. Let me know if anyone wants one at cost before I send one back.
24. Can't wait - ordering mine next week, I want one before my next gig on the 23rd
25.
What pups are on it?
Vintage ones...whatever that means. All I can say is the ones on my RW jazz are fine, no worse or better than my US version
