Maybe the wood tap test is looking for notes that don't interfere destructively with the range of frequencies you want to 'sing' with a bass guitar. All in my humble opinion obviously. If it had been a HH 'ray it might have been a different story. I've played a $$ Warwick and was very impressed. Very user friendly and comfy to play with loads of tone options. I reckon you'd get more for the Stingray too which is handier if things are tight. When you're flush again later on, get another!

I'd keep the $$.

Worth every penny! Loved my 415 but it proved too heavy for me even though it only weighed 9lbs.
