1.
Used to good effect in an only fools and horses episode.
Damn straight. Brilliant episode that one!
2.
I'm doing that as well (have been for years with no luck - ha ha) but.. even if I wasn't, why is using a lighter bass to ease any pain such an odd concept?
Erm, it's not. I agree with you. I've needed to do it myself. Sorry if I've confused you there . I'm tired and I'm going now.
3.
I don't quite understand a couple of these recent comments. I don't mind admitting my frame is on the large side, and for quite a few years now, when doing a gig with a 9lb bass, I start to struggle during the second set. If I use a 7lb bass, I have no problems at all. It's not complicated...
Don't take it personally mate. I'm glad you know what's best for you. I also know what's best for me personally, and that is to lose a couple of stone instead of a couple of hours sleep every night due to compressed discs. I just stopped blaming my own situation on my bass. We're all different aren't we?
4. I've got a bad back (slipped discs) and I am one to obsess about a bass' weight. With some light mods I've got my P5 down to 8 1/2 lbs. Eventually I realised that I'm also 2 stone overweight. That's one pound more than the weight of THREE whole 9lb P basses hanging off my frame. At all times. Shaving a few (costly) ounces off the weight of my bass seems a bit silly now. I'm now working on the love-handle and moob situation instead. No pain etc... 😓
5. Love that colour combo! You could fit into any musical situation with that one. Congratulations! (better late than never 😉)
6. I sold a P5 pickup to Bilko, nice easy friendly deal. Recommended! 👍

Just bought a set of tasty Nordy pickups off Barrie. As before, a lovely friendly chap, easy deal, nice chat on the PMs as always. Thanks Barrie!
8. Same size in every way as the 4 string VM tuners btw , just 5 of 'em!
9. Dean bought a bass body off me in a super quick and easy no fuss deal. Lovely chap, recommended. Great dealing with you Dean. Cheers!
10. Shame Flea didn't at least record with the Wal again. He's never sounded better!
11. Bought a Stingray pickguard off James in a nice friendly deal Lovely chap, although he packed it so well in a nice Fender USA package, I had some explaining to do to the wife who thought I'd been going crazy ape-poo bonkers ordering stuff from America again! 😂 Top guy, deal with confidence. Thanks James 👍 (I'm sure things will get easier again after my divorce.. 😜)
12. Flea never gigged the Blood Sugar Wal because, in his own words, "it looked too dorky, same as the Alembic (Epic)" Macca gave up gigging the Wal because, "it was like wearing a door on your back"
13. Personally if this was going to be a good old hoot of a road trip and festival with some good mates, playing music I enjoy and I was getting fed and watered, costing me only what I was to lose by taking a day off work then I would go for it and have a rum old time making new memories. If it was looking like it's going to be a chore that was really going to cost me then not a chance I would do it. My 2d worth.
14. That last white/tort/RW Super P is a corker!
15.
Nice view of Google Earth there - those pickups must be huge
It will be a shame to see them go. They've become quite the landmark 'round these parts! 😁
16. Just as the title says. Bareknuckle rewind, comes with vintage cloth hookup wire (from the factory, the American Standard P5 pickup comes with plastic covered hookup wire). GREAT full sounding pickup which suits the low B nicely. Only selling as I want to try a Nordstrand NP5fv so I'm raising funds for that. Times is tight so it's one out, one in. *Edit* - £45 posted. (just realised that £45 is what I originally paid for this pup from our very own Molan. It was originally a custom wind for his pal Dave Swift, of Jools Holland's R&B Orchestra fame no less. Only fair I pass it on for the same). Cheers, Simon.
17. Squier VM P5 pickup with original wiring harness and knobs. Hardly used, never gigged. £30 posted
18. New unused tuners that came on my Squier VM P5. They come with the ferrules and screws which also are unused. Edit: £20 posted
19. I personally ordered this lightweight select alder '64 P-bass body from Martin Sims about 4 years ago. It's an exact CNC clone of a genuine '64 P-bass so the shape is correct. It weighs a titch under 4 and a half pounds, the lovely alder looks like it's bookmatched at the end grain, and it cost me £240 as a bare wood body (yep). I put it together into my dream P with equally tasty bits for my 40th bday treat... Just before I moved onto 5 strings and soon found I'd never be going back to 4 strings (as you do) Sooo, I parted out the tasty bitsa.. except this body, which was really resonant (that P sounded amazing, Fralins et al ..)and a fantastic platform for another build one day. Never going to happen with me now so I just want it gone to release some funds but also to free my mind from umming and ahhing what I'm going to do with it! BTW I had it drilled for a Fender HMV bridge (with no strings thru on the body) so you could put another straight on, or indeed if you wanted a regular 5 hole Fender bridge etc. the centre hole is there as a guide so that should be straight forward too. I was going to refinish it natural and only got so far in rubbing it back until the project finally stalled for good. So. Yours for £50 posted. Cheers, Simon.
