  1. Maybe take an open top bus ride or a 20 min ride in a black cab (not cheap but worth it) of all the main landmarks which are quite close together. Also stand on the the north side of Waterloo bridge when it is dark. Right on the bend of the River. One of the best views in the world. Very close to Somerset House and Covent Garden. Eat in China Town. Up the Creek comedy club in Greenwich is fantastic. River cruises from there too. Walk through the foot way tunnel to the Isle of dogs. Lots of famous bands have done photo sessions there. Jack the Ripper tour. Pie & Mash at Goddards or Manzes in Deptford. Full English in a proper greasy spoon.
  2. Stupidly I didn't really ask about the decision making process as they were super keen to get me down to the first audition (I wanted to delay as I had man flu -which they knew I had). I assumed they it would be a yeah or nah within 24 hours. When I have auditioned people in previous projects, I have let people know straight away, especially the good ones because you don't want them going cold on you for no reason, Just realised that we are a lot more professional than 95% of the bands out there. Finding bass players is tough for musicians, finding decent ones is tougher. You'd think that bands would understand/appreciate that by now.
  3. Quick update: just sent them a text saying I thought I might of heard back by now. So the singer phones back and says flaking sorry but I forgot to call, you were the best one so far but we have another audition in 3 weeks. It's probably yours, etc. Had to laugh, the arrogance of amateurs. I was the best player, easy to get on with, played with passion (their words) but we want to keep our options open. It's like getting 20 at blackjack and twisting for 21! I have 3 better offers!
  4. Anyone else had the situation where you go to an audition, you're the best one in the room and smash it out of the park. And then hear nothing back? I don't remember getting my knob out or taking a sh*t on the floor These guys are old enough to know how to behave (early 60's) but clearly not very professional. Just find it a bit rude.
  5. Barefaced did it originally as either 4ohms for a 1 cab solution or 12ohms for a 3 cab solution. Not sure exactly why. Feel free to ask Alex
  6. Tom from COG built me a reverb/chorus pedal. Sounds fantastic. Especially together.
  7. I'm going to see Brian Setzer (stray Cats) for £38 and Richie Kotzen (Winery Dogs) for £20. Much better value!

  9. I have a 62 RI P bass currently strung high action with La Bella 110-52 Jamerson style. Great tone but really high tension, feels like a forearm work out without the happy ending. Have even more respect for him.

  11. He's a top bloke. Spent some time with him at the Winery Dog Camp in NY 2 years ago. He's also an ordained Lutherian minister btw.
  12. 1987 Red/Black Tokai Hardpuncher P Bass into a Peavey TNT130 combo We were a three piece (17,16 & 15) doing very bad Motörhead and cult covers and originals. We were terrible but thought we were future rock stars in training. The folly of youth
  13. good luck with finding the right people. I know lots of average local musicians or quality ones who live an hour away. Neither still want to rehearse/gig that often. Feel your pain buddy.
  14. Thanks for the info. Was going to give Alex a call today to find out.
  15. If it had been vintage cloth, I'd have been all over it like a fat lass at an all you can eat buffet.
  16. I think I tried to buy this bass too but he wouldn't post it to London so some other lucky pup got it! Still have my fender precision deluxe/status neck Karl sold me. Lovely bass too!
  17. I used to have this set up too (sold my 210 to Nik). Buggered my shoulder so got a barefaced Super Compact. Always got positive compliments from the sound engineers and other bass players when I used this rig!
