1. I don't tube/bus to shows if we're bringing backline - it's taxis all the way. I recommend the Addisson Lee app for your smartphone, they are cheap and have big enough vans. Main rig is a Matamp GT200 and a Barefaced Compact. The barefaced is a lifesaver, the matamp is not. If I wanted to get public transport, I'd go for a midget + markbass. Slip the markbass in the front pocket of my gig bag and away I would go.
2.
get another (spare) head
In addition to my 2 backup heads? I like where you're going with this...
3.
Is this just a bit of gas or do you really need more volume?
This question is unfair.
4. thanks everyone - really appreciate your input.
5.
You'll get a little extra volume from the difference between running at 8 ohm and 4 ohm.
Even if this amp is solid state? The wattage doubles @ 4ohms... so I was thinking that headroom/volume would be a distinct bonus of running a 4ohm cab instead of 8?
6. Sorry to start yet another lightweight cab thread. I'm over the moon with the barefaced compact but would ideally like to drive my new amp at 4ohms instead of 8. Is there something similar to the BFC that runs at 4ohms? Could always add a 2nd BFC or a midget - that's my plan B.
7. I'm guessing no-one here was a regular on Musicradar because it was neither polarised, a niche, or filled with kids. A few annoying gear sharks, but that's about it. Excellent marketplace. It was really successful imo. I got just as much good advice and just as much good gear over there as I get here. (ie none you useless bastards lololols Just kidding you guys are ok)
8. well I may be getting ahead of myself but I have a SS beast arriving imminently and it's replacing a tube amp. Will give it a thorough run over the next few weeks and see if I want to add a pre to colour it nicely. Big thanks for all the suggestions. DHA is my front runner at the moment.
9. The fretboard is in dire need of a design/usability overhaul if they want to get numbers up, imo. Because of that, I think there's still a gap in the market up for grabs since the demise of musicradar. I would guess that musicradar had significantly greater numbers than BC at its peak... that's a lot of unfulfilled GAS. MR had sales, wanted ads, and parts all in the one forum - it sucked!!! These should be split up imo. BC has a far better structure imo. New users on a new system should probably not be overrun with too many rules at first - remember that the rules here (48hr bumping, prices for trade items) came in gradually over time as a reaction to user behavior.
10. Wondering if there's a particularly nice preamp-type pedal that can add some colour/grit to a solid state amp, maybe something that can replicate nice subtle tube grit when playing chords. Don't need anything high-gain at all, just some nice colour.
11. Big on weird designs from the 60s at the moment ^Lucky enough to own one of these bad boys. What other cool different designs are there around?

14. Considering getting something over from the states, but not super keen on lugging a step down transformer around with me everywhere I go. Can they be modded to take 240v?
15.
Goat cheese
+1
16. there's at least 4-5 mm gap in the neck socket of my 65 mosrite. Still the best sounding bass I own.

19. What's a tube amp you've had for years and not once let you down? GO.
20. It's been listed for ages, at least a year - the guy is obviously a total chancer.
21. I bought a pedal off Tom - smooth deal, very quick to get it in the mail. Would happily deal with him again.
22. not seen one of these before... starting price is a little high: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peavey-T-45-Bass-1981-/111194830686?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item19e3ba775e
23.
Whatever the next big thing is in bass guitar development, it's probably unlikely that I'll be buying one.
amen brother
