1.
Does it really matter? Use the one that sounds better! You won't damage the amp by over-driving the input stages.
Sure, I just like to know what goes on behind the scenes.
  2.
Many amps have Hi/Lo input sockets. I strongly suspect that most bass players just whap everything in the Hi socket the same as I do regardless of the bass type.
It's misleading though - I thought you're supposed to plug into lo if you have a normal passive bass right? I think most people think 'Hi' will be louder (ie higher), but actually the lo input is louder. I could be wrong. I always thought it was: lo = use if your bass has a low output (ie passive) hi = use if your bass/instrument has a high output (ie active or a keyboard with line level output etc) non?

  13. not my favourite finish by a long shot, but it's a damn sight cheaper than I paid for my fireglow
  14. Going to try this bad boy out as a bass amp, should be ok - has partridge transformers. All solid state - I might need to chuck a pedal before it for some character/grit, but keen to see what it can do on it's own.

^ that's exactly what I'm hoping for... I took the bass big muff on tour last week and it was pretty good, I just want more flexibility with wet/dry mix. I currently use a Tym Big Bottom with a black russian big muff. The Big Bottom is an fx loop with wet/dry controls, but the dry element of the mix is only low frequencies, while the wet mix affects only the mid and high frequencies - it's a great sound, but I want something a bit quicker to plug into for hectic shows. Plus the loose chicken head knobs on the big muff are a nightmare, always being nudged out of place on small stages with leads and crap everywhere.

  22. I was looking forward to bidding on this, but looks like he made a deal outside of ebay... guess you gotta really go for things: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230781417634?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649#ht_500wt_1215

for me it's exactly the controls and function I want from a single pedal, just depends on what the wet signal sounds like. Trying to simplify my setup. I play with 2 super clean guitars, so the fuzz always seems to be present in the mix when it kicks in. Also my drummer doesn't use cymbals*. *he does
