I know how rare they are so I won’t be giving them away, and know I’ll regret it as soon as they’re gone, as I know they’ll never be replaceable. [/font][/color] [color=#000000][font=Verdana]Perfectly matched pair, the pickguards look like they were cut from the same sheet. Impossibly rare examples.[/font][/color][/size] [size=2][color=#000000][font=Verdana][/font][/color][/size] [size=3][color=#000000][font=Verdana]Based on recent sales and pricing on these, they tend to go for around £1200+ each. The Jazz is particularly rare though, so if I get a sensible offer, then they’ll go, if not, they’ll stay.[/font][/color] [color=#000000][font=Verdana]If you’re looking, then you’ll know all about these examples. Unlike the ’82 Fullerton reissues, these were made using the original ’62 blueprints, sent over by Fender US, and are the closest reissue Fender ever made. The large Fender decal versions were only made for 2 months, before Fender US made them stop, and use the large Squier decal. Many of the ones still in the factory were stripped, and new decals applied before sent out for sale, some were already out there or slipped the net, making them very sought after, many of those even had the Squier portion of the decal sanded off as they were deemed unfashionable to have the Squier decal visible.[/font][/color] [color=#000000][font=Verdana]The Jazz is believed to be an early prototype version to show at a German Music fair and to US Fender reps, in May 1982.     Don't Fender already do a JJB Signature Precision, but they called it the Roger Waters model, apart from the 50's vs 70's decal, isn't it the same? Black guard, black body, maple neck?

    I think they (Stranglers) have some very recognisable tracks, and lines, that define a sound of the era, along with the Jam, Skids etc, but I don't rate them myself, he wouldn't be in my top 30 bass players. But its all a matter of taste........and many of you clearly don't have any!! Taxi!!

Its not about getting out there and playing them. There could be all manner of reasons why people dont all 'get out there and play'. As long as they are enjoyed, and appreciated by the owner, then thats good enough for me. As stated earlier, I think its a shame to have them stored somewhere externaly though, as they clearly arent being enjoyed, or played, but that again, is the owners choice, and he can do what he damn well likes. I've had my time gigging, I enjoyed it, most of it anyway, but have no interest in doing it again whatsoever, that shouldn't influence how many guitars i own. Its all about opinions though, personally I'm happy for people to do what they like. I love basses, so I could never have too many, and the amount I [i]do[/i] own is only restricted by my cash and space. Alot of people on here, from what they say anyway, would only have one if they had millions of quid, fine by me, but I'd have shitloads!!!

Don't subscribe to that at all. How does not playing an instrument worsen its ability to be played. I have a bass that i play all the time, and its constantly needing attention and tweaks, the ones i play less frequently need nothing. You think John Entwistle played all of his on a daily basis? The point is owning the things you want, and having them there for when you want to play them, if thats your interest. I think you're confusing this with how many do you 'need', in which case the answer is one. Do people who have a collection of 100 Toby jugs have to drink beer out of them everyday to justify owning them? No.

If yours has a regular truss rod adjuster at the headstock, then it aint right.

    No such thing as too many. You should have as many as you want/can afford/have space for. If that's one, then great, if it's 50, then grrrreat. I have more than I need, but if i could afford more, I'd have them, no question at all. We all only [i]need[/i] one though. I must say though, as has already been said, if you need to rent external storage space for them, then that might tell you something!!

    Decal is right, the S/N didnt appear on the headstock until late '76. Regarding the switched parts, he does say in the title [color=#333333][font=Trebuchet,]"Orig pu's/bridge/guard will be returned".[/font][/color] The only thing iffy is the price!, asking around double the real value.

[/quote] Thanks for the kind words, my 10 year old helped me with the site!! I must get round to updating it, a few bits missing, that need adding. It has taken a while to put them together, although I'm always active in the market, a few years ago i decided it was quality rather than quantity that i wanted, then once i got a taste of quality vintage, i wanted more of them, so the plan didnt exactly work, its very addictive though, theres always something on the wants list!! Looking for a nice Jazz now, or a 4005! Anyway, its better than money in the bank at the moment, and you get to play them all every day too, which can't be a bad thing! Thanks again, Rick.

[/quote] To be honest Mike, I didn't know that, which tells you I'm not a reader of local press, or any newspapers actually. I guess its folk like me that are part of the end of this great tradition. Sadly, its natural evolution, and the t'internet has bought an end to many things, personally, I'm all for technological advances though, unless its in bass guitars, i like mine old, and traditional!!

    Welcome Mike, don't know much about Peterborough, but just started a new contract there last month, so will be getting to know it more over the next couple of years (Certainly the A605 anyway!). Enjoy the site!

I am [i]trying[/i] to reduce the hoard. i've sold 3 basses and 2 amps over the past few months, but now i'm down to ones i simply can't part with. The last one is a '60 slab board Bravewood, i bought it off a fellow BC'er, not Kevin though, he owned it before though. I've since added some additional original parts I had from '60 (Tuners/bridge/knobs/thumbrest/chrome covers/upside down s/n neckplate), it now looks completely original, and plays amazing. I'm looking for a brown tolex case for it.
