Illustrated Bass guitar mugs!
Rick's Fine '52 replied to 99ster's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
The Jameson looks a bit wonky? You can always take a picture of your own bass to Morrisons photo shop/dry cleaning haven, and they'll do you a mug with your bass on for £5.99? -
Never bought a bass with dead spots, so that would be a big concern to me. The neck pocket issue doesn't seem to be a big issue, after reading the thread i was expecting far worse than the pics showed. Should be better on a new bass though. Basically, you're not happy though, and it should go back asap. General rule, try before you buy, or get an in-hand description at the very least if inspection isn't possible. Hope you get a positive response.
Bugger me! I thought this was a custom shop until I read the description! Very nice bass, good luck!
Thanks for the comment, I try hard to get things 'right'. I bought a CS Relic to play regularly, as my real one was too valuable, I then wanted to make my own, based on the best parts of those two. Here's a pic of the 3 together. -
Fantastic - retrorama! Takes me back. I'm pretty sure that these would be PA columns - WEM seemed to have most of the market for this kind of thing in the UK in the '60s and early '70s - you'll see WEM columns at almost all the big outdoor gigs of the period. The Fenders appear to be in fabulous condition. I've no need and no space, but these columns should be in some kind of rock'n'roll museum for all to marvel at - incredibly cool.
Thanks Loz, cool is definitely the word for these, if I didnt need the space, they certainly wouldnt be going anywhere.
I agree, BUT there are exceptions if your good lady is some kind of super woman who doesn't mind you taking the piss a bit!
This, that's why I quit, because I don't have a wife who liked me taking the piss, and I kinda grew out of it, and was happy to spend more time with the family of course. It wasn't just the gigs, it was the rehearsals, writing time etc. If I was just in a covers band that didnt need much practice then it may have been different, but I wasn't. Enjoyed it immensely while I was doing it, but I don't miss it.

Need space and money for a new Project, so something’s gotta go, and this is next on the list. This is a project bass, that I assembled, to replicate my original ’58, as I wanted one I could take out and play regularly. Great time and expense was spent sourcing period correct parts, to make it as authentic looking, feeling, and playing, as possible. The dates and decal were added for my benefit only, as I never intended to sell it. The new owner can choose to leave these on, or remove/change as necessary. It is not a production Fender bass, although all the components are original (reissue!) Fender. The body is unknown origin, but matches Fender dimensions perfectly, and the 3-tone is excellent, much better than most copies, so it may well be a fender one, but I cannot confirm, everything else is real Fender.

3-Tone Sunburst body, lightly aged, and relic’d, fake date of 10/58 added
Single piece maple neck (Fender), with period correct truss rod nut and location, amber tinted, rolled edges, and relic’d. I bought these with the intention of sitting them either side of a silverface bassman head and cab, and displaying them, and playing with my two psych, '68 Tele basses. Reality is, that it probably won't happen!! These are late 60's (Believed to be '68), pair of Fender columns. Each contains 4x8" speakers. Very cool pair, rare in the UK. Black tolex, with cream tolex inner panels. The two 60's Fender badges are worth £50 each!! The last pair I saw in the UK sold for £400. I'm looking for £[s]200[/s] £175 collected. I've never even plugged them in......I'm sure they work?? Offers welcome, but I won't give 'em away. Click on pics to enlarge. Cheers Rick.
No if you use Photobucket the image is pulled from Photobucket's servers when someone views the thread that it's posted on. Much better for Basschat's server space and much better for the reader of the post since the images come in at the full width that the browser window allows instead of thumbnails that need to be clicked to be viewed properly.
Thanks for that, I'll have a clean up later, and get a photobucket account set up. -
You could try remotely hosting the pictures on Photobucket, then instead of uploading them to here, just use the 'Image' tool, enter the URL of the image, and voila! Lots more photos
But the image is still uploaded isn't it? Doesnt it use your allocation if its copied via Photobucket?, only from your desktop? -
Those Enfield Avenger bases look flippin' horrible.
They are horrific, what is that pickup about (Even spinal tap wouldnt play that!), I thought they'd be some attempt at entry level bass, then saw the price £2650!!!!. BGM said in the review that a negative was the price (Ya think?), but its cheaper than buying a Precision, a Stingray or a Jazz??? What?, I can buy excellent examples of all three of those basses cheaper than the Enfield. I thought the article (And the basses) was an April fools joke, but I'm a month late!
