1. Tanglewood/Overwater Classic?
2. Check out MarloweDK's YouTube video about his 4 finger picking technique. He plays a very similar octave riff to this as an example.
3. Just traded a bass with Dougie. Nice smooth transaction, great communications. All good!
4. I can only think of this happening to me once before (by the Scarbee Celinder) but today was totally out of the blue. While visiting a chap to trade a hard case for his compressor pedal, he let me play a p bass he put together himself (He'd mentioned it in our communications and that he liked working on guitars). It was without a doubt the finest p bass I've ever played, and I've had some nice basses through my hands. Being this guys personal labour of love, I know it'll never be mine and it's already driving me a bit mad! This ever happen to any of you?
5. Ah balls... If this had been here a fortnight ago... I've gone and bought a Lakland 55-64, which I don't regret, but this would have been perfect.
6. I've told this story before, but I played an ATK300 back to back with 2 EB MM 'rays in GuitarGuitar once. The ATK won hands down. Played better, sounded better and was nearly a grand cheaper.
7. Bought one of these off gumtree a few weeks ago. Similar to the OP one, but different pickups, recessed bridge, 'T' and 'bassmaster funk' on the headstock. Battered, broken nut and action like an archer would be accustomed to, but it was bought cheap as a project. Looking forward to getting new strings on it and checking it out properly!
8. Not sure Andy. I bought it from eBay way back, before the basstalk days I think. There are a few of these knocking about the uk - there were 2 in Northern Ireland at one point I believe
9. Doesn't work from mobiles for some reason. Hopefully won't matter (see title!)
10. Price dropped and further trade options added. Roll up, roll up!
11. Argh! Why must you haunt me so! Don't have a Fender P I can part with...
12. Want!
13. In the interests of full disclosure, I recently received a Fender Roadworn Jazz in a trade, and while it's a cracking bass, it's not as good as this. Why is this one on the block you ask? It's a proper jazz neck, and the RW is chunkier, and as I'm more of a P bass man nowadays, the RW fits my hands better. The Lakland has the edge everywhere else I think, but as with my esteemed colleague, I'm trying to cut down on basses. If I can get a 55-02 the RW will probably go also.
14. New pics up: http://s38.photobucket.com/user/Bigwan2062/slideshow/Lakland%20pics
15. I fondly remember a blue jb5 the gallery had once. It was rather lovely. Up against a Lakland JO5, US Sadowsky 5 and US Fender J5, it beat everything else hands down.
16. Sorry, all things MM are not my cup of tea I'm afraid. Cheers for the offer though!
17. Saw your ad but took from it that you didn't want trades... Which is why I'm trying to sell this! Perhaps we should talk!
18. Just bought a 3leaf Wonderlove from Liam. Great transaction. Would deal with him again.
19. PRICE DROPPED: £550 with Fender SKB case, £500 with no name case. Never thought I'd sell this but needs (GAS) must. This is a Lakland Skyline JO DPLE (Dudepit Limited Edition) in Sherwood Green with matching headstock. Lindy Fralin pickups. Now passive as I think it sounds better this way. Fully shielded. Some pics show it with the stock East J Retro which is long gone I'm afraid - now fitted with a good quality Fender control plate (A replacement 60's style stacked knob control plate is also included). More up to date pictures have now been added to my photobucket link. There were only 23 of these basses made. There are quite a few little marks on the bass, most noteable being damage caused by a cheap locking strap just above the rear strap button on the edge of the bass. Pics of capturable damage included - there are a few little dents on the top above the pickups but they aren't really noticeable., A few scores on the fretboard. There are a few visible scratches on the back of the neck around the 10th - 12th fret, but these can't be felt under your thumb. There are quite a few little scratches on the front and back that would definitely buff out. Only other thing to point out is that the control plate doesnt meet the pickguard exactly (pictured also). Looking £550 plus postage (including fender SKB case) or £500 plus postage for generic no name case. Would trades for a Lakland 55-02 or similar 5. Would also sonsider a well used Warwick Stage 1 Streamer 4 or 5 (no other Warwick models though). 20. Smashing bit of kit!
21. I've a Lakland 55-64 incoming (impulse buy... What can I say, I was having a bad day!). I'll add my thoughts here in case it's of any help to others regarding 5 string P basses in the future.
