For sale (or possible trade) my 2008 Gibson Les Paul Studio in worn brown, it's one of the chambered ones so it's a bit lighter than other studios (I also think it sounds nicer than the other studios I've had!). All original, OHSC, great condition, I've played it a few times (bought for a project that never quote happened) and it's then been sat in it's case, it's currently on the wall of my mates guitar shop in Wakefield but I can fetch it back... £600 (daddy wants another cab!) I'd prefer collection to postage but...if it makes a deal then I'll go with it! PM me any questions, offers or trade options so I'll definately pick them up, I'm still struggling a bit to follow threads... Thanks guys! Andy
Quick question: I have a Compact. Tuesday's gig is in a biggish bar, 150-200 noisy people. Given the size of the Compact, would you leave it on the floor or put on top of something? Steve
Will you be able to hear yourself over the rest of the stage noise if it's on the floor? have you got PA backup? have a look at: http://barefacedbass.com/technical-informa...or-coupling.htm
I'm glad the cab is working well in Notts set up. So, it looks like people who don't own a piece of equipment can come up with good advice and recommendations after all!
I don't own one yet but I have had long email chats with Alex and done lots of visual auditioning, I'll be going down to Camden next weekend I think to do some audible auditioning and trade my PJB for a GB Shuttle 9.0

I may be in South Yorkshire but a midlands bass day might be quite close to me!
bloody hell, no pressure then lads haha :-)
Haha indeed! Although I was already fairly set on a Shuttle 9, I've set up a deal with the Gallery and just need to get down there with my SixPack (from Sheffield on the train!) to do the trade, I'll probably pick up an Epi UL110-2 to tide me over until a Midget-T arrives but I'll try as many other cabs as I can while I'm down there...
-
I too am eagerly waiting to hear what you make of it! I'll probably be pushing the button on a Midget-T very soon to go with a Shuttle 9.0 that I'll also be buying...
-
everyone should try to have at least the ability to pull off most if not all techniques as learning a new one will further inform the other techniques you already have, it also makes you much more versatile
-
it's the same technique on whatever bass you try, a wider string spacing 'may' help you early on but I slap my stingray5 occasionally (only when called for) and it's got fairly narrow string spacing
-
Having looked at all the options I could, epi, aggi, van derk, genz, barefaced, very, I would have beef if poss and then barefaced over all the rest, I don't yet own any of them but that's where I'm at...
-
Shuttle + barefaced, it's what I want too!

How do I Remove screws with head rounded off?
I do furniture restoration and face this prob often; a screw extractor should sort you out Drill a pilot hole into the offending screw, and screw in the 'remover', which is reverse threaded to it'll loosen the screw rather than tighten it.
That's a brilliant little thing!! -
I asked a similar question recently (see below thread link) http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...p;#entry1301011

This is the exact rig I want but I don't have the cash just now as no-one wants to buy my SixPack! so...because this is a killer rig I want someone on here to buy it before some other monkey snaps it up!
I think the '9.0' is meatier came from Genz themselves?! Im sure it did. Whether its just headroom or voicing, the lows on the 9.0 are thicker and fuller, but the 6.0 will get there with tweaks. Then they went all out on the Streamliner and introduced and amp with SO much usable low end, that people are cutting it! The SL900 is a real 'meat and potatoes back to basics' bass amp. Clean tube fatness, but with a sweet high end, (nothing shrill). It sounds massive.
Streamliner 9 sounds perfect, I really need to get somewhere and try 'em
If I had a pound for pointing out both the 6.0 and 9.0 have exactly the same around 37Hz Shelf with the low button engaged and 80hz shelf without I'd be rich! (well about £8 richer ) This myth started early on when a review stated the 9.0 as 37hz and the 6.0 as 80hz shelved, they can both do either and the internal components are exactly the same the only difference is the final output stage after any sound alterations have been dealt with. Any extra bottom end at regular volumes bearing in mind a 6 with a 4ohm 4x10 or 2x12 is good for a 1000+ venue without PA support I don't see many people having trouble with a 6 or a 9.
I love a good myth debunking, monster helpful! Thanks matey
not had any experience with the Six Pack (although im sure it like the rest of the PJB stuff is pretty sweet) but the bass buddy's are great little things
Indeedy, they're both fantastic sounding things, the sixpack is firm, loud and very transparent, with the eq flat it just make you louder, the eq can do massive things to your sound, it's got a graphic and a parametric so you can hav several sounds at the flick of a switch

A niceUS Fender Precision but something's a bit off.
andydye replied to absolutpepper's topic in Basses For Sale
you've got plenty of time to query the photo with him before the auction ends, it can't hurt to ask the question... Also, I had an S-1 jazz bass which for me over complicated the controls (it never sounded quite right with the switch engaged either) and I was tempted to switch them out for some standard controls or put an East Retro in it...I sold it in the end as I realised my lack of love for Jazz necks was a higher priority than the controls... -
Andy, I feel your pain. Auditioning with your eyes instead of your ears as all of us who do not live close to any of the larger music shops is a total lottery. My answer will ultimately be to max out my credit card and order 3 or 4 candidates and mess with them with my own kit and then send all but one back under the distance selling regs which mean you can send anything back within a fortnight.
Cheeky but I love it!
Any accurately rated 500W amp will have almost as much headroom as an similarly accurately 900W amp! It's less than a 2:1 difference, which is less than 3dB. And when you figure in power compression the difference is even less. For differences in power to be truly significant you have to think in ratios of 3:1 or more. 400W difference is a lot if you're going from 200W to 600W (1:3) but almost nothing if you're going from 1200W to 1600W (3:4). When you're looking at these lightweight bass amps, the amp you like most will be the one that has the right feel for you, which will often be the one that reaches its limit in the way that you most like, and that too will be the amp that you deem loudest. Thus some will deem Markbass amps loudest, some Genz, some TC, etc... No-one's wrong but no-one's right either!
Eminently good sense as I'm coming to expect from you sir! Thanks again!
