Good luck, lets hope this gets sorted one way or the other. Im pretty sure my 2 UL's would allow me to use either, i certainly dont recall ever having to use a certain socket on either cab. Maybe they changed the design. My issues were well documented so ill just say both cabs looked great on the outside but on closer inspection the UL212 seemed to have been made by a child in a dark room. The 112 i had farted too much, even at bedroom levels (i got that from the Gallery but Alex was great about taking it back and i ended up with a UL115, no issues with that ever) They are great cabs though and i do lust after another UL115
Thanks D, The UL112 series 2 I have sounds fab with my Shuttle 9.0 and the bottom end with a Stingray 5 scared the s**t out of the shop assistant compared to the Vanderkley 112-EXT I tried back to back with it, as I say Alex has checked the other Epi cabs in the shop and they seem the same as mine, he's wondering if they've changed the design too as they defo used to be both useable as IN's... I am lusting after a second UL112 series 2 (assuming they can reassure me about this issue - otherwise it's going back and I'm getting barefaced)...
Are you sure your cables are good? Have you swapped them around?
It's one speakon to speakon cable that I've tried in both holes (as it were), nothing else changed in the set-up, the cable et al work spotlessly in one 'hole' and not even a faint hiss in the other 'hole'... I am waiting on Epifani's pleasure for a response which will either confirm that all is ok or that I should have bought something else...
In that case I suggest that you contact Epifani directly. Have you tried the same with the jack inputs? Alternatively is there a technically savvy BCer near you who could check it over with a multi-meter. I'd be happy to do it but I'm rather a long way away from Sheffield.
I have just emailed Epifani and copied Alex at the Gallery in too in case it's a dicky batch...(which seems a little odd!)

The build quality of mine looks good to me, am really liking the sound and weight of it too... Curious about connections, Alex (Bass Gallery) has just confirmed that all of their in-stock cabs do the same as mine...

I've done a couple of transactions on here and have had no problems so far... my checklist is... plenty of photos and a good description of it incl details about cases/blemishes etc (you'll not get warranty from a private sale), sound clips if poss but not essential plenty of good feedback in the feedback section for the seller (you'll be wanting to build up a good reputation for yourself on here too) lots of good contact back and forth discussing the item and the sale via pm home address and phone numbers exchanged via pm a couple of good conversations by phone payment via paypal if postal (or cash if in person) - paypal fees should be discussed (even cash gifts on paypal require fees but you can choose who pays the fee) agree what day the posting will occur and ask for confirmation by text and get a tracking number follow on-line leave cracking feedback packaging is the responsibility of the seller, I wouldn't insult their intelligence by asking how they'll be doing it set-up is very mouch a personal thing, one man's low action may be another man's bow and arrow, suggest you learn how to do the basics yourself and also find a good place that can sort out any serious issues most of the reassurance of the buy/don't buy is related to building a degree of relationship with the seller feedback is as important to the guys and gals on here as it is on ebay I also feel a bit like there's a bit of an honour code on here built on growing and maintaining trust Hope that helps and you don't feel like I'm trying to teach you to suck eggs or anything...

You are going to get a huge amount of Barefaced love on here, I'd love one but can't afford the dosh for a new one, I have had some long chats with Alex from Barefaced over the last few weeks and he's fab, really really knowledgeable! If you tell him what sounds you like to make and what your amp is he'll suggest the most appropriate cab from his range! I've not seen a bad word said about them and I want one (one day!)

Is anyone interested in going in with me on a pack of these?
I think part of the reason is he collects them. He has a "picks wanted" thread as well that mentions he likes these little plastic slivers. Me, god knows why. It could be because I like the look of small shiny objects.
I also believe that he's actually a she... -
Stingray - Difference in Rosewood and Maple necks?
andydye replied to Linus27's topic in Bass Guitars
I've had both and tbh can only really tell the difference in a studio or through headphones it's rather subtle, in a band mix they sound much the same, the feel is different, the look is different, the dimensions are all identical... -
There should be no difference. They should both work. There is no in and out. They are supposed to be wired together to allow daisy chaining.
Hhmmm that was my worry, I'll speak to the shop tomorrow... Thanks
-
Think one is for daisy chaining.
Thanks matey, I wondered if that was it so I thought I'd ask, they aren't labelled differently though which made me wonder...

I bought an epi ul112 yesterday and love the sound, that's why I bought it! But When I connect the head to the right hand speakon it works fine but doing the same with the left hand speakon nothing comes out! Is this supposed to happen? Is the left one for daisy chain only or is it somehow broken? Thanks!
Only just noticed this - these DIY posts disappear from the radar very quickly. If you've not started building yet - don't build a cab that's a cube. It's the worst possible shape. The ideal is to have each dimension different to prevent standing waves that will come out through the cone and colour your sound. Also, don't use four 1-inch ports. Just use one.
It's pinned now so that should help! I have decided to bin the idea and just buy a Vanderkley 112MNT...

technique and theory provide the vocabulary (as has been mentioned before in this thread), it's the soul that provides the music which the technique and theory then translate through your fingers and out through your amp...
Take info on forums with a pinch of salt. Only you can really say whether a certain cab will or will not work..and then only when you have it and have played through it in the circumstances you need it most in. You might find there are as many discenters as there are fans for cab A or B... or amp Y or Z There is plenty of stuff on here and other places about plenty of kit...you just need to do some research. There might well be stuff that is hyped up on here that is only known about on here because the makers of that kit only sell on here. It can be an easy market as well.
Absolutely matey, I did lots of 'mental auditioning' by reading manuals and looking at specs before asking for actual experience of this kit to help me narrow down my options, it included reading through barefaced's website and tbh their numbers look amazing and the feedback from owners is outstanding! That and a few email chats with Alex at Barefaced somewhat sealed my fate as it were, he's knowledgeable and helpful. I'm hoping to head down to the gallery in Camden this next weekend so I can try a couple of heads but I'm probably going to be coming home with a Shuttle 9 (and hopefully without my PJB SixPack too!) I may or may not pick up a cab while I'm there but I may also be trying out a Midget-T on Alex's 'try for a month and return if you don't like it' policy...
-
so, having dithered around variations on the theme and listened to the noise barefaced are making around this forum just now it's gonna be a Shuttle 9.0 and a Midget-T. Thanks for your help gents!
Sexy!
Why thankyou! It is really nice to play! sounds wicked with a good bit of drive and really almost nice clean, the chambered body gives a little bit of '335'-ness, super cool! shame I don't play 6's at the mo! Could really do with the cash or something useful instead of havin it sat about...

For sale (or possible trade) my 2008 Gibson Les Paul Studio in worn brown, it's one of the chambered ones so it's a bit lighter than other studios (I also think it sounds nicer than the other studios I've had!). All original, OHSC, great condition, I've played it a few times (bought for a project that never quote happened) and it's then been sat in it's case, it's currently on the wall of my mates guitar shop in Wakefield but I can fetch it back... £600 (daddy wants another cab!) I'd prefer collection to postage but...if it makes a deal then I'll go with it! PM me any questions, offers or trade options so I'll definately pick them up, I'm still struggling a bit to follow threads... Thanks guys! Andy
Quick question: I have a Compact. Tuesday's gig is in a biggish bar, 150-200 noisy people. Given the size of the Compact, would you leave it on the floor or put on top of something? Steve
Will you be able to hear yourself over the rest of the stage noise if it's on the floor? have you got PA backup? have a look at: http://barefacedbass.com/technical-informa...or-coupling.htm
I'm glad the cab is working well in Notts set up. So, it looks like people who don't own a piece of equipment can come up with good advice and recommendations after all!
I don't own one yet but I have had long email chats with Alex and done lots of visual auditioning, I'll be going down to Camden next weekend I think to do some audible auditioning and trade my PJB for a GB Shuttle 9.0

I may be in South Yorkshire but a midlands bass day might be quite close to me!
bloody hell, no pressure then lads haha :-)
Haha indeed! Although I was already fairly set on a Shuttle 9, I've set up a deal with the Gallery and just need to get down there with my SixPack (from Sheffield on the train!) to do the trade, I'll probably pick up an Epi UL110-2 to tide me over until a Midget-T arrives but I'll try as many other cabs as I can while I'm down there...
-
I too am eagerly waiting to hear what you make of it! I'll probably be pushing the button on a Midget-T very soon to go with a Shuttle 9.0 that I'll also be buying...

everyone should try to have at least the ability to pull off most if not all techniques as learning a new one will further inform the other techniques you already have, it also makes you much more versatile
