1. You can get reaper as a free trial version for as long as it takes you to decide whether you want to stick with it or not (this time has no limit form their perspective) and if you do want to finally do it, I'm told it's only £35 anyway!
2.
The Lomenzo Hyperdrive certainly tempted me... but it's got such a hoofing great footprint! Haven't the space for it... I'm getting my SFT from Toneworld in Manchester, since getting the Low Drive from them.. Postage is free & they are very helpful & quick. Their price on the SFT is £145 ...which is pretty good for new. http://www.toneworld.co.uk/effects-c1/bass-pedals-c14/catalinbread-sft-bass-overdrive-effects-pedal-p377 I reckon the SFT can do the Chelsea Dagger thing!
Thanks matey! Hyperdrive indeed not little but sounds great...v cheap too comparatively! It certainly 'reads' like it will 'nail it' to me! Free postage may swing it, same price as guitarguitar otherwise...will try to catch any youtube action for it this evening
3. ...and where have you found the best price on an SFT?
4. I really like the look / idea of that Catalinbread SFT! Will check it out on youtube tonight, I'm looking for something to give a little bit of valvey grind without being really gnarly (a bit like the bass sound at the start of chelsea dagger if that makes sense)... The Lomenzo is absolutely superb sounding but does way more than I need, I'd rather have something that just does the job I want 'really well' so I'm using it in its' sweet spot rather than tickling a pedal that can do loads more than I'm asking it to
5. I'm considering selling my Lomenzo Hyperdrive (got on a trade from Charic recently) if that interests you at all?
6. My good friend who's an accomplished protools and logic user is making the switch to reaper, which, to me, is endorsement enough, I'll be trialling reaper in the hope that I can get my head round it...
7. Frighteningly easy trade with Col (EBS multicomp for Aguilar TLC), beautifully syncronised posting and virtually simultaneous arrival! Great comms throughout, top chap! Thanks matey!
8. I just use my ebs OctaBass and it sounds wicked, more like the live version, but, really nice and big!
9. Wayhey, nice one! Another beauty to watch as it grows!!
10.
Pics uploaded!
...smashing! a promising start!
11.
Tried tweaking the EQ centre of the mid pot ? (But now I can't remember if it was possible or it was pickup output you van change !)
Indeed you can alter the eq centre of the mid pot, haven't tried that yet on mine, I think it's default is 600Hz (you can set it to 275Hz / 600Hz / 900Hz / 1100Hz)
12. Hiya matey, I have a 55-02 and get plenty of top end through my genz shuttle 9 and epi 112 cabs...a few questions spring to mind... What strings do you use? How old are they? What amp setup and eq? Have you got lots of pedals? Does your signal chain start/end with a buffered pedal?
13. Great pedals all, good luck matey!
14.
Another thing to think about is if you're gonna be switch back and forth between those two comps is a sneaky we A/B box to easily switch on the fly without tap dancing or simple choosing the TC with presets. Keep us posted on how you get on
Thanks matey! Loads to consider here... In the meantime I've agreed a trade -my ebs for an aguilar tlc- which will give me a bit more control in general...and something new to try
15. Sounds exciting matey! Can't see any pics though
16. Like it! V cool.
17. absolutely beautiful!
18.
So, Fender USA pickups in the Vintage... a very marked difference! Before it had a nice enough sound, even if not very "Jazzy". Now it's clearly a Jazz. I was surprised it made so much difference. It sounds a bit "woody". It reminds me of a roadworn Jazz a friend of mine has. Do they have the same type of oickups? The strings are pretty old, over a year I'm told, but it still sounded pretty good tonight at rehearsal. I will play with this on the gig on Friday
Ah, the age old 'electronics make more difference than the wood' adage strikes again!
19. Wren & Cuff pickle pie-b and an EBS octaver gets me close enough for punters and my band...
20.
I too am a member of the Tesco Value Bass Player club
This...I got me one too!
21. Oo yeah!
22. Pm'd
23. I love a happy ending to a story with a few twists and turns along the way!
24. BigRedX that vibracell looks amazing, what a great concept! I've had four MM rays, two 4 strings a 5 and a fretless 5, all good, the ray5 stayed with me as my main bass for a good while but ultimately they had to go, the 4's weren't thick enough sounding and I always wanted more from the 5's... I've bought/traded/sold maybe 30 basses in the last 20 years and don't regret saying goodbye to any, they all felt/sounded good when I got them but their time was done and my needs had changed. I like my Lakland 55-02 and it does what I need just now, that may change if the music I play changes again...if only I could have (and had room to store) about 10 basses! My gorgeous sounding and playing '61 p-bass copy is getting the least airtime so might have to go purely for space reasons which is the wrong reason to sell I think!
