1.
I don't like the suggestion that firstly you think that I don't know how to turn off a television and that also you think I'm like some sort of little kid.
Is someone a bit tired?
2. Just bought some barely-used Roto Nexus strings from Mel, and it was a great sale - described perfectly, good comms along the way and fast delivery - can't ask for more!
3. Welcome along Callum. 'fraid I can't help with the Ibanez as I haven't really had much to do with them, but sure someone local might be able to help you. Ah. If we knew where local is for you it might help though
4. Oh yes - charic has hit the nail on the head. Welcome from another Bristle Basschatter!
5.
He (For it is a he called Steve) had a set of Antigua's on the wall last time I was pressed against the glass. If you want to go in it's best to phone ahead.
Steve's a bit of an aging rocker legend. He will rarely sell you anything, but has many, many stories. Just don't go in there if you are a little asthmatic...
6. +1 to that - sounds like you are having a ball! Welcome!!
7.
The only things I'm interested in making are music and tea. (aged 51)
Hmm, Tea. Oh, I make a mean crab apple jelly as well. The bass is getting there slllooowwwlly. (aged 37). Not planning on "making it" myself, as there is virtually no way I'd be able to match the money my day job gets me (I'll leave it up to you whether that means I'm on a reasonable salary or am hopeless at bass). But would like to think that there is a band somewhere in the not-too-distant future that I can help create music with.
8. These guys have it, but it's $5 or so...
9. Agree. No fuss, no issues, and was extremely helpful when the courier took slightly longer than expected (incidentally not any fault of his at all). The SB301 I bought from him is a little gem! I would definitely deal with him again.
10.
Just wish they had started earlier. We missed all the good T-Rex and Alice Cooper, Sweet etc by not starting till Spring of 1976.
Apparantly they chose 1976 as this was the first year that they have a full archive of - before that a lot of the tapes were subject to the wiping tradegy.
11. Was thinking the same - gotta be the start of punk on TOTP...
12. I'm Bristol, but am happy to drive to Cardiff (and have a reasonable sized car - an Almera Tino. Bit like a Scenic) so could ferry up to 4 others with basses on their laps and a few practise amps in the boot. Keep us posted...
13. My bass playing could quite easily be described as a whole load of No.2....
14. I really rate the DuncDes pickups in my Jazz - and they are a world away from the standard pickups in my affinity P which I might change in the not-too-distant...
15. That sounds like the bass my Jazz was based on, it also has the maple neck with pearl inlays - can't fault the sound I get out of mine. Everything from a deep thump from the neck pickup and tone rolled off, to a really bright zingy sound from the bridge with tone full up.
16. Great intro - welcome to the forum mimbassman!
17. We're generally a good bunch, and with a good sense of humour - just watch out for the For Sale forums...can get expensively addictive...
18.
Mr Tatty Smart of The Skimmity Hitchers
Ah, the Hitchers. Must get around to coming to one of your gigs at some point - I was a good mate of Kes' for ages, and bumped into him again recently after about 10 years!
