Well, I've had my first lesson which went really well, and my tutor agrees that the best thing for me would be a bass with a j-type neck, so confirming my choices. I'm going to call cashconverters tomorrow to see if they still have the jazz in stock (or anything else for that matter)... Will report back with my findings...

A'ternoon all, Just thought I'd pop my nose over the garden wall and say Hi from sunny Bristol! Been lurking for a little while, as I'm looking to buy my first bass very soon - have an inital lesson tomorrow, so will chat it over with my tutor, but thinking of either a Squier Jazz (2nd hand), or a Yammy RBX170 new (or something else 2nd hand). Budget is around £150ish (can't go much over). I was initally looking at the HB basses from Thomann, but have read lots of conflicting views, which seems to me says their QC is not good - I don't much fancy getting a bad one.. If anyone else has any other ideas, they'd be quite welcome!
