1. Another happy camper, I've got the '77 and it plays brilliantly. I tend to play my P's more as they have more of the sound I like, but I won't be letting it go in a hurry - for what I paid for it, it's excellent. I might end up upgrading the pups at some point though - as others have said they can be a little polite. But only a little - they still sound better than anyone has a right to expect for the money.
2.
They do a red tort plate, I;ve found this one. http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3cbe36c5ed
Cheers Steve - That'll look lovely on Sue...
3. That is *gorgeous*. Shame I can't play a fretless
4. Hmm, liking the scratchplate - was it an easy fit? I've heard that some standard plates take a bit of fiddling to get on. Quite fancying a red tort plate for my shiny white Ryder P...wheredyageddit?
5. Just bought Alex's Sue Ryder P - he gave me a fantastic deal on the bass, was great with communications, and packaged the bass brilliantly - what more could I ask for? Cheers Alex - you're a star!
6. If anyone is interested, there is a torrent available (called Multitrack Beatles Masters) with the 4-track masters from A Day In The Life, Sgt Pepper's LHCB, She's leaving Home and With A Little Help From My Friends. You can load up the 4 tracks from each song into something like Audacity and play with them to your hearts content - hearing what the bass/rhythm track is doing for example. For a Beatles nut like me it's not far from heaven!
7. Mike bought my SGC Nanyo SB301 off me over the weekend. He's a great bloke - honest and friendly. I'd definitely buy/sell from/to him again.
8. Well, it would be more in line with the sentiments of the original
9. Maybe there's a reworking there... "Old-age creaks so hard to beat...gut's so big I can't see my feet"
10.
The thing that i find quite freaky is that out of all the muppets , the Sweedish Chef is the only muppet with human hands !! Scary !
I'd never noticed that. Even Honeydew and Beaker only have 3 fingers. Weird.
11. Yup, again all I've had is good experiences. Just make sure the seller has good feedback, and if he/she doesn't have any, then I would suggest an in-person rather than a delivery. Also have a look at the post count - if it's in single figures, then the chances may be that they have joined purely to sell their item, rather than wanting to be a part of the community. Note that this doesn't necessarily mean they are going to be a rogue...
12. I'd say that was a little pricy for an affinity - they are good basses, but secondhand I'd be looking for no more than £100 or so - I paid £80 for mine. They are only £160 new. Apparantly the affinities can be variable in quality, but mine has been fine, so definitely one to check out in person, or from someone on here with decent feedback.
13. I can vouch for the Indonesian-built Squiers - the VM range at any rate.. My VMJ '77 is excellent - well put together, finished extremely well, plays beautifully and sounds great with the SD-Designed pickups. It isn't the lightest thing in the world though. Also, they are available new for around half your budget.
14. PM sent... (edit as stoopid iphone app always inserts a blank pic?!)
15. Well, unless it's underperforming so badly that it's not providing enough signal for the power section to reach it's max. But that's unlikely.
16. Are you thinking new or secondhand? If new, I think you are going to struggle with those constraints, namely the location of manufacture vs cost.
17. D'ya know what...I know I said trade for something different...but if someone has a tidy P-Bass in any colour except black around the same price break (so Squier etc), I'd probably be interested.
18. That looks really tidy and I like the red. I might well be interested if it's still there when my SB301 sells...which it probably won't be at that price!
19. Ok, here's my passive SGC Nanyo SB301. I've had it since October (bought it from Blunderthumbs on here) but for some reason it just isn't getting the attention that my other basses get. It's in really good condition, is incredibly light in weight and sounds really alive. It's got a brand new set of Roto RB45s on it, and everything works well. It has a Balance/Volume/Tone/Tone setup. The only thing to mention is a slight crackle on the neck pickup tone pot. All the other pots are silent. It also has genuine Gotoh tuners that keep pitch wonderfully. Trade-wise, it would be UK only please, and I don't really want to have to add any significant cash to the trade (the missus is watching this one!). I'm open to suggestions, but am looking for a bass maybe a little different to the SGC. My Aria fulfills the "smaller bass" criteria for me currently. You can see what I currently have HERE. I'll be putting it in a Ritter gig bag and Fender shipping box for shipping, but even in that, you can't tell quite what the couriers will do to it... For offers / trades, please PM me rather than posting on here (saves anyone getting embarassed / offended if offers are declined), but any questions are more than welcome. If you want to see some higher-res images, there's a Zip you can download HERE. All the best, Fatboyslimfast. Edit: to add link to Zip file.
20. You can use arguments - when I was looking for an Ashdown, I typed "Ashdown EB* -cover*" (without the quotes). This meant list anything that says Ashdown and anything starting with EB in the same sentence, but remove any entry that mentions any word starting with cover. Gets rid of the chaff. Obv, it can be a pain if someone lists an "Ashdown EBxxx with dust cover"...
21. Hmm, a GAS-Gun. That might not be a bad idea... Welcome along!
22. I echo all the above - a great guy. Great communications, really helpful, quick to ship it and a great price. Loving my new Ashdown EB180-12! Cheers again Nic.
