1.
Great amps! Good luck mate. I've got a 15s cab if you need one?
Which 15S cab? How old is it? Please let us know. Thanks, JN
2. 2.5 weeks from face to face order to delivery for my Retro Two10. Exactly what I was told at the time and no problem, although I was a little painful regarding delivery as I had a gig booked and I needed to line up a substitute if it hadn't arrived on time. It did and its grand.
3.
And at the end of the day if people want to act like they are 5 years old and boycott the site it is up to them, hell a few things have got on my wick but I just take a step back I never feel the need to post "Hey I am leaving" besides the leavers will be back or watching in the shadows lol
OK here's a 5 year old who has "left" twice and watched from the shadows. The reasons that made me spit out my dummy have nothing to do with the WPD epic but were caused by two antagonistic members who did not / would not see further than the ends of their noses in any discussion. I actually met one in real life and he came across to me as being as arrogant and cutting as he did with some of his OT topics and posts on here. Rather than ignore him and his views I argued, got nowhere, was wound up and publicly stated that I was off. This individual has also b8ggerd off. So I am now sitting back, watching and keeping quiet. I will keep well clear of OT, I will not post anything that I think of being humorous and stick to commenting with what I know to be fact. The mods decisions and actions on this issue, IMV, have been spot on. Rules is Rules. To the rest of you, thanks for the info and fun so far. I'm still here sucking my thumb.
4. Last post, I promise..... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/172764-my-basschat-fear/
5. Bu88er! Should have waited for two weeks and saved myself a hundred quid.
6. FedEX delivered Friday morning so I was able to check everything through at home much to my wife's chagrin. A beautiful, well made cabinet which looks right, smells right and sounds great. So off to the gig the same evening in a medium sized coastal pub. I arrived with the guitarist and promptly surprised the rest of the band by walking in with my bass (Limelight passive Precision) on my back, TB500 in my left hand and BF in my right hand. The drummer fell about laughing, inferring that puny kit like that was not going to cut it. Set up and decided to wind the band up further by putting the cab under a table in the corner of the stage area - more hilarity. We then plugged in and sound checked. I won't type the language that was used but the message after three bars of "Can't Turn You Loose" was for me to turn the volume down! So the amp settings went to: Gain @5%, EQ flat, Master @10% and the landlord moaned that the volume was OK but his bottles were rattling and moving on the top shelf. "Why?", he asked. "Real bass", I replied. A bit of head scratching on my part resulted in me using my little Behringer BDI21 as a pedal to give a bit of controllable tone shaping. (I found the active / passive pad on the TBs input at the end of the gig. I'll probably have to use that active pad in most situations in the future). A great gig ensued. The punters were happy, we were happy, the landlord was happy enough to book us back for a gig in May and again for his mini beer festival during the August Bank Holiday. More to the point, I am extremely happy and glad that I made the decision to go with the RetroTwo10 as the replacement for my old Ampeg 410HLF. So, at this stage all is good. I have the sound, punch and more than enough volume whilst I'm saving my back. Great stuff! I'll let you know how things pan out at different gigs in the future.
7.
After the initial and bitter realisation at 18 that being a rock god, adored by all, was not going to happen, I spent the following 45 years having fun with my music hobby. I play a bit of this, a bit of that, get some seriously good money sometimes and play for free at other times. Sometimes to 3,000 people, sometimes to 6 people and an elderly Border Collie. We all feel we'd like to be better but to what end? if you can sight read, play anything that comes into your head and do all the other stuff associated with being a really great player, the chances are that playing would be your living, which in itself, changes how you feel about it. I should have worked harder at it without doubt but I certainly wouldn't want my financial survival to depend on it.
Snap, but I'm totally dyslexic when it comes to reading music even though I've tried, on and off, for years.
8. SOLD SUBJECT TO THE USUAL STUFF Ampeg BA115HPT COMBO This one is now surplus to requirements after serving me well for rehearsals and small / medium gigs. 9.
When did they start to [s]command[/s] demand these ridiculous pricetags??
Sorry Mick, couldn't resist it.
10. Aha - it's got two tugbars on the top. Must be a special custom jobbie and hence the price.
11. Robbie Gladwell is over the border just outside Sudbury. http://robbiegladwell.com/
12. Spirit were a Psychedelic band, weren't they? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0z_e17GJ_Ao
13.
I don't hold with this argument...there was a time when you could pick up a Wal for a few hundred quid - were they worth less or was it just that people wouldn't pay a "reasonable" price at that time?? Those same basses are now "worth" several thousand pounds, nothing has changed with the bass itself , just the marketplace. If somebody is only prepared to pay £xx today doesn't mean that it's still not worth £xx+ just that it's harder to find a buyer at the asking price. IMO Market forces only decide what people will pay NOT the value. Telling me that you're only prepared to pay £xx for my xxx bass doesn't mean that's all it's worth - try an ACG and tell me that I'm wrong. Sorry for going OT.
Thank you. Exactly my point. I will only pay what I think the article, in this case Fender or Fender clones, is worth to me. Thus, me and my individual market.
14.
Never played a Lime and I hate any form/brand of relics but slightly off topic I would be interested to know what hardware, body's necks and pups they have. Anyway on topic I have seen some 90's early 2000 Mex Fenders up for like 700 quid and they sell surely a MIM of that age even in great condition is only worth about 300 tops? maybe they are being bought by people who dont know about all the different Fender variations and just they are getting a bargain Fender?
Does it matter what name, place of manufacture, what it's made of or how old it is if the bl**dy thing plays right, sounds right, you are happy with the colour scheme and you want it to play, not hang it on the wall? Price is the money that people pay for something they want and shouldn't be confused with the cost of manufacture. I make the decision that if I want something then I judge the what the maximum price is of what I would pay for it. It's my decision in the end and I don't give a flying f*** about what anybody else thinks. In my world the same goes for cars, washing machines, beer, etc. ad nauseum.
15. I have a 2013 Japanese Non Export 62RICS Jazz Bass which I bought new. Price wise, it was similar to a USA standard and a lot cheaper than a US Custom Shop. It is streets ahead of any other Jazz (MIA, MIACS, MIJ, CIJ, MIM etc.) in quality, finish, playability and sound that I have played over the years. However, I was yet to discover Limelight basses at the time of purchase. I'm now thinking of selling it to finance a Limelight.
16. Son and his drummer mate will be in Brixton. Life will become noisy, I fear.
17. The only way I can do this is if someone buys my National Resolectric Jr.over in the "Other Musical Items For Sale" forum. C'mon guys, help me out here.
18. Dudi, don't do this to me. It matches my Limelight Precision perfectly. I don't need another bass. I don't need another bass. I don't need another bass.
