1. Indeed! Appalling!! Clearly my maths is wrong though!! saving the £38 booking fee means they will be £380, not £400!! £95 x 4 = £380. Postage included as detailed.
2. [s]My sister in law has 4 tickets 2 available for Rod Stewart on sat 14th June 2014 at the Britannia Stadium in Stoke.[/s] All sold. Please close. 3. Just to let you know that this desk is now on ebay for a quick sale. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/131206793500?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 Cheers.
4. Sorry for the delay!! Pics now sorted!! http://s1341.photobucket.com/user/bassintheface/library/Allen%20and%20Heath%20PA28%20mixing%20desk%20For%20Sale Cheers.
5. I seem to be knackered more on the mon after say a sat gig. Just used to it now though. In at 3am or so usually after packing down and unloading into the studio. Home for a disturbed night's kip due to a teething 13 month old and then woken by a playful 2 yr old at 6 or 7am! Love an early night on a sunday before a busy week in work! I try to keep quite fit to help keep my energy levels up, and eat pretty well so I do Muay Thai 3 times a week and will cycle to work a few days too.
6. I take a spare bass to all gigs, plus I usually have a spare set of strings in my case. I take a couple of spare leads and I always have my sans amp DI incase the amp goes.
7. haven't managed to take pics yet sorry - I went to the room to get the gear pat tested and forgot to open the case for pics!! I'll try later on this eve!!
8. interesting. I have a set of Wizard 84's and they're great.
9. I'm having the same thoughts. Since buying an x32 as our desk, coupled with a big and decent JBL PRX active speaker set (inc 18" active subs), I'm really wondering about ditching the rig for some gigs - I don't think I'll ever get rid of my Aguilar rig, but for most of the weddings etc we do, I can just plug in my sans amp, set a nice sound and go into the desk, which has tons of processing, speaker simulators etc. We each have our own monitor mix via in ears and we each control our own wirelessly off our iphones anyway. I'm just trying to get the guitarists to consider smaller amps - they really don't need the Fender Blues deluxe and the Musicman 212 - 50w and 65w valve combos respectively. They run them at low levels anyway and could easily get an apogee and use their iphone / ipad or get a smallish digi amp - like a line 6 or similar.....
10. I am going to be next at the rehearsal room on next week ,so will take some then. It's in great condition, pretty unmarked - as it's lived in the flightcase. It fits like a glove, so I assume it's made for the mixer. Can't confirm either way, but it would appear to be a custom job.
11. To update where we are now: We got rid of the Adlib / GAE rig and amps and bought a brand new set of the following JBL Active PRX: 2 x JBL PRX615 mid high packs 2 x JBL618 XLF Subs. They're brilliant and plenty big enough for most of the gigs we do. For any big stuff we either hire in a live array or there's a house system. We've also gone for a Behringer x32 mixer - it's phenomenal; esp at the price!!

13. Just got in from quite a nice friendly wedding reception gig. It was in a posh village hall in Eccleston, nr Chester on the Duke of Westminster's estate. Big old cave though, but was nice that the groom had hired in a big 12kw FoH set up - 2 x 18's per side and 2 x 15 mid highs per side so we just took in the 32 and a pair of mons! Nice easy set up and pack down, lots of dancing and generally a happy bunch so easy. Bit of a blag though as I updated the X32 remote app on my iPad earlier today, but didn't realise I needed to update the firmware on the mixer. Set the desk up behind the speakers at side of stage, then found that the x32 iPad app wouldn't work due to running the old firmware. It meant the poor sound guy was running back and forth all night rather that sitting out front working off the app. Ah well, he earned his money! Unloaded and home by 12.15. Better than the 5am last wk. 2 band members off to NY now, flying at 6am, doing a 2 wk US tour so I've got a bit of time off. Hope everyone else had decent gigs?
14. They're great. We've got the 'full' X32 and love it. Take an ipad for our FOH guy to mix from and we have the app on our iphones to sort our own IEM mixes. We have saved 'scenes' for various gig typs and locations etc. Easy!! Crazy to think that 10 years ago I was regularly doing sound in a venue with the (large analogue) desk and racks of outboard in a dodgy location and had to constantly run back and forth to check the sound in various locations and rush back to the desk!!
15. Yeah, think I'm pretty much set on a 'trad' 3/4 DB now. The Mrs will be chuffed. 4 bass guitars, a Besson Sovereign EEb Tuba, acoustic 6 string, Aguilar TH500, 2 x DB112's, an Ampeg BA300 and now maybe a double bass in my 'room' at home. Best buy her a new iron or something! Wow, didn't think a set of DB strings were that much, but I guess thinking of the sheer scale....... Cool, will make a point of blagging for a deal on strings etc. Cheers. Any suggestions for amplifying it in the future?
16. excellent. Cheers. Will make a note regarding replacement bridges on budget instruments! Thanks!
17. So, as the thread title says, I am considering buying an upright. Initially, it'll just be me at home trying to learn properly, then I may start using it with the band. I have lots of questions though!! If I go for a standard, acoustic DB, I'm unsure whether to go full size or 3/4's. Additionally, I'll need to look at amplifying (if and when I use it with the band - it'll be for a swing type set) - clip on mics etc - I have a sans amp to try as a pre amp (not sure it'll work well - anyone tried it?) If I do go down this route, I'll probably look at going to play with one of the local Orchestras too, so I can get up to speed quickly - I also play Tuba and did grade 8 and A Level music on it, so I read etc - I used to play tuba with a few of the local orchestras, so I know a few of the guys. OR I get an EUB - I haven't a clue where to start here - obviously the portability thing is a massive bonus. A friend bought a Stagg one, but had endless issues with it. Are there any others worth looking at for between £1k and £1500? That's my max budget for either DB or EUB. Thanks!
18. Thankfully my situation has 'eased' somewhat and I don't now need to consider selling this. Cheers.
19. It's also the bass I'm playing in my profile pic if you can enlarge it..........
20. Situation changed so No Longer For Sale - Thankfully!! This is a very tentative 'feeler' as I'm hoping that I don't need to sell this. I 'may' have the need to raise some funds, so am considering parting with this dream bass. It is an absolutely immaculate '73 / 74 Fender Jazz. I have owned it since March last year and it's amazing. RW board, block, 'burst, black scratchplate. Cool as you like. It's currently fitted with a pair of Wizard '84 pickups and a new loaded control plate (CTS pots and switchcraft jack). The original pickups are included of course, as is the control plate, which both work fine. Everything on it tallies up with itself. Feel free to question me! I'd be looking for a sale only so no trades thanks. £2500, inc a hefty flightcase. I'm really unsure about parting with this and hoping I don't have to, but if there's any interest, let me know. It's in Wrexham. Pics here - http://s1341.photobu...4?sort=3&page=1
21. I'm in Wrexham so will pass this on through facebook / twitter etc ............
