1. Ok, I'm a keen seller and have seen a P I'd like so, £200 and its yours. Can't say fairer than that. I will post at your risk and cost.
2. I've currently got 4 , which is the most I've ever had. 1 is for sale is it isn't really required anymore - the Squier Silver Series I need 2 as a minimum as I have my main 'gigger' which is now my 1974 Jazz (for selected gigs) - if it's a bit rough or outdoors then it'll stay in the van as a back up and I'll use my.... ......75 RI Jazz, which was my main player for 7 years but has just become the backup - though its now got flats on it, plus I keep it tuned to Eb, but with the 'E' string down to C#. My stingray, which was my main gigger for 5 years has been retired to home practise and recording. Though if I joined another originals band, depending on the style, it may become a gigger again. In an ideal world I'd have a decent Precision, but tha then would be 'me' done.
3. Bump. No love for this? A great bass as a backup, or a main player if you're worried about gigging your pride and joy at certain venues.
4. NO LONGER FOR SALE. Hello... for sale or trade is my early 90's Squier Silver Series Jazz in Sunburst, RW board and black scratchplate. Photos here - http://s1341.photobu...s?sort=3&page=1 The only thing that differs from the photos are the knobs on the control plate - They're now the shiny chrome type as I had them lying around unused. I've known this bass since about 1997 as it has been owned by may mate since it was almost new. Not much to say about it really - it sounds like a proper Jazz Bass and better than some US basses, is seriously light and plays well. Its a heck of a lot of bass for not much money. I'm sure many of you can support my opinion on this!! It has a fair few battle scars on it but these don't affect the playability. It comes with a gig bag and I'd rather not post if it can be helped - I've experienced too many broken necks!! I'm getting rid as I already own another 2 Jazz Basses - a Japanese 75 RI and an all original USA 74. I really need a P bass in my life, or the cash to put towards one. So - if it's trade, I'm ONLY interested in a Precision Bass, nowt else. Cheers.
5. My function band used a dep this last weekend as I'm curently awaiting Mrs BITF to give birth to sprog nr 2 - was due on friday...... anyway, this guy is a mate and plays bass in the function band's singer's orig band and is a quality player. He doesn't read but had to learn 35 songs but with no rehearsals. One gig was within an hour of 'home', the other was an early set up and late finish over 3 hrs away. We own a splitter van so he got picked up from home and dropped off again. Gig 1 was easy and he was home for 1.30am, gig 2 was leaving home at 11am and he got to bed the following morning at 5am - he got paid £400 for the 2 gigs.
6. We have done this in the past and its a great tune..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-tICM5jgHec&sns=em
7. Another shout out for steve amadeo. Based in Wallasey. Great guy.
8.
I have some brand new wizard 84s (never got around to installing them) for sale if you're interested?
piss! I've bought them online direct!! If they're 'that' good though, I might be interested in them as a set for my 75 RI.......... Will pm you if I am. Cheers.
9. frustrated that I currently don't have the time to practise as much as I'd like, let alone as much as I should.
10. indeed! Talking to myself!
11. just bought a pair of Wizard 84's.
12. I'm looking for some replacement higher output Jazz bass pickups. Any recommendations?? - I've looked at Wizsrd, Bareknuckle and Aguilar. Any others I should consider - for my 74 Jazz?? Cheers,
13.
How do you get a gig in those places? I've emailed Telfords a few times and never had a reply.
Just ring and ask to speak to the promoter or get his email addy.... Send in a demo and promo stuff etc, if he likes it (or thinks you'll pull in punters) then you'll be fine.....
14. Is the Rescue Rooms (???) still going in Notts? Played there a couple of times. I played a number of gigs at The Victoria Inn in Derby opposite the train station (think there was / is some sort of 'Gentleman's spa' type establishment around the corner)........ There's a great venue in Chester, being Telford's Warehouse - I've played there regularly since the late 90's. The owner, Jez is a great guy and his brother Damon has a couple of venues in Winsford - about 30 mins away - De Bees and a pub (can't recall the name).
15. Cheers!! Hopefully it'll be ready by next Thurs for it's 1st outing - Headingly Stadium for a Leeds Rhinos game! If it rains I'm using my Squier Silver Series!!
16. by the way - I know own this beauty!
17. It's going in to get a service, set up and general clean etc on monday so it'll all get properly checked out before I take any action! I've decided that if they are buggered, then I'll remove the pickups and controls and store them safely. I'll then buy a set of decent higher output Jazz pickups (Wizards or Bareknucles or Aguilar etc) and new CTS pots & controls for use, then if I ever decide to sell, I can pop the originals back in and no harm done. Thoughts? The bass is mint - not a scratch on it whatsoever!
18. Removed from sale. I've decided to hang onto it for now as it's a great spare.
19. Just noticed my spelling of 'fictitious' was to sh*t - iPad autocorrect!!
20. In this entirely fictiscious scenario you're selling say, a nice bass. Say you've got it advertised for £2k - so a proper nice bass. Someone offers you £1800 but with the catch of £1000 down payment, then the balance by the end of June - yes, June. 3 months away. A quarter of a year. A second person offers say £1650 and will do the deal in full, cash by this time next week. Which do you go for? I'm ignoring all the present value of a pound stuff - you know, £1 today is worth something like £0.96p in 6 months or similar.
21. I bought one of these for my 75 RI and its great. http://www.axesrus.co.uk/TOP-SPEC-Jazz-Bass-Control-Assembly-p/topspecjazz.htm
