Obviously I haven't made myself clear.
Au contrare - obviously I can't read properly!! This is great news - Top marks Discreet and top marks Jason!
I had a TNT too, the only issues were the weight and it could not keep up with a Marshall half stack, the volume issue is less important to me these days but the weight is more of an issue than it was back then.
Exactly the same problem for me. That and some chump at Peavey thought that you only needed one carry handle on top of the amp.

Bass Player Wanted For Well Known Established Band UK
hairyhaw replied to hiimjamie's topic in Bassists Wanted
The King Blues are looking for a new bassist then. -
Depends - if its "Peaches" then no. But there are songs you can get away with a little (just a little improv).
-
Used many other brands but seem to keep coming back to 66's. I'm a sweaty guy onstage so no strings tend to stay bright with me after 2x45 minute sets.

The Ray had a Musicman decal on the headstock, yeah.
-
Got a laugh at the light blue StingRay with a Sabre decal on the headstock. From a distance though you couldn't tell. Same couldn't be said for the Ricky copies; the bridge and treble pickups are light years away from the real ones. Didn't notice any headstock badges either.

what bass player is is inspiring you right now?

Re-visiting a lot of old tunes by The Charlatans so at the moment I'd have to say Martin Blunt. -
Also leaves me with very mixed feelings towards David Sylvian as I have grown up over many years loving 'Brilliiant Trees' and 'Secrets of the Beehive' and I don't think I can listen to them again without thinking of how he treated his bandmates in Japan
This is a difficult one. On the one hand I'm really interested in reading the book, on the other I like "Brilliant Trees" so much I'm not sure I'd want to be in your position after reading it.
Reminds me of Andy Summers coming up with that great guitar-line on "Every breath you take" (which pretty much makes the song what it is in a way) and Sting still claiming that the song is completely his..
I always understood that Sting wrote the riff on (and for) keyboard but that it didn't work and Summers tried it on the Tele instead and voila, instant classic. Continuing the royalties theme, did Bill Wyman not successfully argue for extra royalties for composing the bassline for Satisfaction?

I've had my 4003 for 7 years and my Jazz for three. The neck on my 05 Rick is very shallow but is about as wide as a precision at the nut. Since I got the Jazz though, its pretty much eclipsed everything else I have and I use it all the time. It has the best neck I've ever played and is silly narrow at the nut. So for me, it would be the Jazz for the neck and sheer versatiliy. The Rick however always gets comments.
It was an Eventide Harmoniser wasn't it?
The Eventide provided the chorus effect, the Mutron gave it the Bweh.
Loaded off his head though.
Nah, he's been off the meths for years (hence "Gas Panic" on SOTSOG). Doesn't do much stronger than Guinness and Silk Cut now. -
Always the first tune I think of when envelope filters are mentioned: Mutron III doing the honours.
GuitarGuitar in Newcastle wouldn't price match a simple Hiscox case that I wanted to buy WITH a £1000 bass. Soundslive Newcastle offered to sell me the same case, new from their depot, for £15.00 less and I WOULDN'T be buying a bass with it. I tried to discuss this with GuitarGuitar but they didn't understand. They lost a sale on the bass and the case for being difficult over £15.00. They have a fantastic range but the prices are usually very high.
I have to say Soundslive are pretty damn good to deal with too.
Buy from Thomann without worry, they're good.
Only heard good things about them. Re GuitarGuitar - tried a price match in Glasgow, they weren't interested. Felt bad for the assistant as he did try but was overruled further up the food chain.

Genius.

I don't understand 'aggressive' sounding basses??

All the above folks mentioned + Chris Squire. -
I've played a couple of Mexican Jazzes but the build quality seems to be extremely variable although they often sound and feel good, one of them you could get a 50p into the gap around the neck pocket
Ha ha, the P in my avatar has the exact same problem and is the main reason why I'd never sell it. Bought it new (MN2 serial) when I had zero savvy on these things. On the other hand, I have a 70's classic Jazz (which is the main bass) and the quality difference between them is quite pronounced. The only thing I'd say against it is the the factory chaps have been a little too liberal with the poly on the neck!

Fit like Leigh, and a happy new one too from a former Ellon dude.
Nah, if you've even a passing interest in Squire or Yes you will have read it all before - wallpaper covering, picking each note then brushing it with his thumb. Probably why he didn't get the cover (which he deserves) and a picture of a bass and amp did. The picture they used on his gear list was of a recent 60s reissue, with the reverse headstock.
4001C64? I could partially see some logic in there as its the nearest you're going to get to Squire's bass right now (albeit with the daft headstock) without going second-hand and trying to pick up a used 4001CS or V63 or paying and arm and a leg for a real RM. But then, I'm not convinced that was the reason - I suspect laziness was involved! The best recent article I read was probably the one Nick Beggs did, as he actually got the chance to handle the bass. There were some good observations (something about driving a bus underneath the strings as the action was so high maybe) but alas, there were no close up photos.
I was asked if I wanted to interview Chris recently, but sadly I was busy on the day he was free! Gutted!!
If you get the chance again, make sure you get some interesting questions in there, rather than the bog-standard ones. I'd love to know a bit more about the 21 fret 4001, Tele bass and his '75 Jazz! -
I'm subscribed and always look forward to reading it each month, but I'm amazed at the amount of sloppy mistakes they make - in the Chris Squire interview they used a picture of Rickenbacker bass he doesn't play, and in the Novoselic interview they used a picture of a modern Ripper reissue and a generic jazz bass. Surely it isn't hard to find a picture of the actual bass they played?
I was considering buying this month's mag till you said that about the Rick. Does the Squire article take a different slant to the usual? I only ask as it’s it’s getting difficult to say anything new about CS’s Rose Morris short of a doing a photo essay with the bass being taken apart. I’m surprised Squire himself isn’t fed up of talking about it. -
It IS the holy grail of Ricks - an RM1999. But yeah, price is still a bit out there.
James Dean Bradfield and Sean Moore wrote all the music on that album
Ha ha, that right? there you go then! As I said, not enough of fan to know who wrote what.
