[/quote] I can play music I'm not really into, and even look as if I'm enjoying the experience (there is a video somewhere of me playing on "Red Red F*cking Whine" that illustrates this perfectly). However, these days I only do that when I'm depping with my old club band for money - partly because of the money and partly because we all became friends through the band. I wouldn't like to join a band where I wasn't enthusiastic about the majority of the music that they played, be it covers or original. Not unless there were vast financial rewards (so I could happily play Chic covers all night for £1k or so).

Following complaints to Trading Standards authorities, band names containing numbers are now required to enumerate the actual members of the band. While U2 are renaming themselves as U4, Level 42 as Level 5, and Maroon 5 are becoming Maroon 6, the B-52s are embarking on an ambitious recruitment drive.

Pub gig, about two miles from my house, which is nice. First time we've played there (Mrs Zero and I have done a session at an open mic there), and we're the first band in after a refurbishment. Have I got to say how many years experience I've got and how old I am now? We're playing about halfway up. Fortunately there's a ramp up from the carp ark.

Guitarist takes his pedalboard and amp (small Marshall combo), I don't bother with anything and use the provided backline, we use the provided PA and drumkit. We have done one rehearsal in a pub to get a proper shakedown and familiarisation with the PA, just so we knew we could get everything so we were happy with it..

All the rehearsal rooms I've used around Birmingham and Tamworth have had drum kits (and PA and backline) provided FOC, thought the drummer has to take cymbals. We split the cost 4 ways, and if the drummer chooses to hire cymbals for £2, that's up to him (and ditto if we decided for some unknown reason to hire a guitar or bass). I think if I was in the OP's situation and the drummer could bring a kit but chose not to, it would be up to him to hire it (or I'd find a rehearsal room with kit provided).

Status also do double ballend flats - as I've got a 5-string Sei headless, and have decided to try flats out on it, that looks to be my only option.

There's vast amounts of headroom as a 9V system is +4.5V/-4.5V around the ground rail while a bass pickup will be putting out 150mVish peak to peak. No compression in sight.

Our guitarist uses an iPad. I've used a cheap and cheerful Chinese tablet in the past (wrote a web page which contained the set list and allowed me to expand and collapse my notes for songs I wasn't sure of, then put it onto the tablet and viewed it in a browser). There's something called Setlist Helper which I started using but haven't done anything with recently, and also if you go to [url="http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/"]http://www.ultimate-guitar.com/[/url] you'll find they have an app (Android, iOS, and I think mini-Windows) for tabs. I've just got a Nexus 10 so I want to have another explore of what might be available.
