Hi OBBM, Your Muggins theory is probably spot on for 1 & 3 but number 2 will be done by whatever powers up in that frequency range in 2012. I think it's going to become a Europe wide harmonized channel for mobile phones IIRC. It'll be interesting to see how the manufactures will wind down production of equipment in the (soon to be) defunct frequency ranges. I reckon I have a sneaking suspision of the answer! JTB
Very interesting. It raises at least three questions in my mind. 1. How are retailers going to justify continuing selling equipment that will be illegal in 3 years time? 2. How do they plan to enforce it considering the sheer amount of wireless equipment currently in use? 3. Who has bare the cost of replacing one's own equipment? I suspect the answer to 3 is muggins. Will we start to see a flood of Ch69 equipment on Ebay aimed at those not in the know?
News just in! Channel 69 (854-862 MHz) is definitely to be cleared by 2012 so we will be losing that channel. It's replacement is to be Channel 38 (606-614 MHz). See JFMG's News page about itHERE
... Get the geetards to turn down...
Good advice if they'll do it! I am another who would suggest an amp & cab setup to help get more volume.

I'd Love to hear it through a couple of big cabs, but what would realistically suit/handle this kind of amp? Im thinking a pair of Barefaced Vintage cabs - woof woof!
...2. The tone is in the pedals, not the fingers...
Totally my opinion but I don't agree. How did you come to this conclusion? Not starting a war here, just curious. Cheers, Jon.

Well CK, I can't get the idea of a new Shuker out of my head! It's Clarky's fault - Waving that JJB bass in front of me and letting me try it

Pretty 1973 3TS Jazz; pretty high price too though

No photos of the back of the body/guitar either?! -
I got one for the same reasons you did. Apart from there only being a Gain, Bass & Treble controls is a lovely sounding unit and would highly recommend it. With a bit of tweaking you can get some great sounds going. I've done loads of gigs and recording with mine and it's solid as a rock. Cheers, Jon
I use the big triangle blue Dunlop Tortex. A small guitar pick feels wrong to me on bass, if you haven't tried a big triangle then do it now!
+1 and same here. You also get 3 picks in one so plenty of life in them and added value! Can't decide if I like the Blue 1mm or Green .88mm though! Cheers, JTB
...It was yea, although I didn't realise you had posted about it previously. It was only a 90 minute drive so I went to check it out. You know the rest
Ah man, it had me gassing big time. I was thinking about flogging a load of gear to fund it at one point Well done that man!
Why not get a DI box that has some EQ to it like the BassBone? Failing that, a head that puts DI signal post-EQ? But the whole idea does suck...Guitarists get mic'd yet we get DI well I dunno...COmpanies could think "Hey! Why not allow them their tone to come through the PA?" But then...the soundguy could hate your sound and EQ it his end so really, it's pointless.
Indeed - I have the Sadowsky D.I. pedal and it works well in being an 'adjustable' D.I. The thing with live sound is that even the Guitards will more than likely be gated/eq'd/compressed/limited to oblivion anyway so you are always at the sound persons mercy. This is where the Mate with a bit of sound nouse comes in handy - he/she can stand near to the soundman and speak for you!
...The near mythical Vintages will be ready next week, what a wait...
Any pictures available of them Alex? Cheers, Jon. -
...My point is whats the point Do you think I should just give up thinking?
IMO Yes & No. You are correct that in a large P.A. situation your bass amp is just on stage monitoring, so just enjoy it! We pay lots of dough for that rig. Just make sure your raw bass sound going into the D.I. is the best it can be. Obviously a gig where the bass is non-P.A. supported and all the sound is coming from your rig then that's best for everyone to enjoy your gear but then you get into mechanical coupling, acoustic coupling and sound dispertion issues! Cheers, JTB
