  1. Makes perfect sense to me. Only time I've played with no amp (long story short; multi band event, told not to bring one, band before us had supplied bass rig up till that point, but, understandably had never planned to leave it all night) I was mixed into a floor wedge along with much else. It wasn't great but I could make out what I was playing. Difference with your plan is you have control over the level, tone, mix etc. I had 10 seconds with a harried sound guy!
  2. Good luck 🤞
  3. Love the look of these. Any sound clips?
  4. Thanks, I'll have a look at these suggestions and see how the kitty is looking.
  5. Love this bass so much. Great stuff, thanks for sharing.
  6. So, am I asking the wrong question? Is the FRFR cabs people speak of a whole different thing? I thought they were just powered monitors (but good ones).
  7. This 👆 is Basschattery of the highest order. I heartily commend you for it sir.
  8. Was the precise opposite in our house. A neighbour loved to tell of the day l turned up on his doorstep, soaked to the skin and minus one welly. "can you get my dad please? But don't tell my mum"
  9. My soldering iron has bitten the dust. Knowing how keen we are on not wasting paper starting new threads, I am joining this one. Can you please help me to choose a new one. I'm not a professional, won't be using it 8 hours a day so it doesn't need to be the best of the best. Just a good mid level iron for the odd job.
  10. This really is a magnificent Basschat effort!
  11. Thanks for all the offers. I shall get the ordnance survey out and see where everyone is.
  12. Yeah, think they've let the whole online thing slide a bit TBH. They have an Eden 8x10 combo!
  13. I know for a fact they have one of mine and a few others. Unless you mean the funeral parlour?
  14. Oh and the Co-op owns the funeral place too
  15. Oh you'd be surpri... No that's pretty much it
  16. Thanks man. Singer in one of my bands is in Oxford, so this may come into play
  17. There most certainly is a difference. D is the key our singer can sing in.
  18. That's a really neat board.
  19. I had a Stanley toolbox stolen years back. The thieves may have been a little disappointed to find it full of instrument cables, bass strings, and my collection of Behringer pedals. I have built a deserved reputation as a cheapskate, never happier than taking a Harley Benton bass out, and leaving my Fender at home. But before I discovered Thomann's finest I used to fight hard in Behringer's corner. Their stomp boxes are great. Yes sure plastic cases are, well, plasticky, but they're fine. Like you it does not bother me at all. This pedal sounds disgusting. In the best possible way 😉 Congrats.
  20. I know this is a thing, I get why folk opt for it, understand the implications and applications. However.... How do you know that a powered monitor / pa speaker is suitable for bass guitar? Obviously without buying it first. Do you just read the spec? And if it can handle below a certain number of hz then it's good to go? Or is there something else sets the suitable ones apart? I notice one BCer uses a QSC k12 whereas another uses 2 of them. This may not mean much, after all I use rigs way bigger than they need to be. So, what do you look for when sizing these things up?
  21. I used to present a radio show. We'd just have a laugh and check social media while the music was on
  22. I wouldn't be concerned about the nerves btw. I am an absolute mess with nerves in an audition, or even a soundcheck sometimes. But get me in front of an audience and I'm like a man possessed. If someone had to overcome extreme nervousness and still turned up and played well, it speaks volumes for their determination, character and courage.
