1. I played a Bongo stealth with just the single humbucker in Wunjo's and it was amazing. Smaller and lighter than it looks and really nice to play. Anyway, I digress
2. Ern, you could always chuck an Entwistle P pickup into your Squire. I did that with my jazz and it sounds awesome now. I haven't gigged it yet so can't say if it'll cut through more. By the way, a Bongo HS Stealth is pretty much my droooooooool bass
3. The routing on my VM was enough for the stock pickups to be bouncy on their springs when the screws were undone but I had to take the springs out for the Entwistles. You can see the difference in height here: [sharedmedia=core:attachments:176135] And yeah, VLE, VPF. I keep getting them mixed up Whichever is the one that boosts the lows and highs at the same time is the one that helps with the sound. I haven't tried them both together though. Maybe tomorrow...
4. I've popped a pair of these in my Squier VM jazz and got the same result as yourself. Only gripes are that they're a little bit deep (!) so can't sit as low down as I'd like and they don't sound very vintage to me. But if I turn the VPF filter up on my markbass combo I can get that vintage sound.
5. Here's my modified Squier VM jazz. Before: And after: Here I've upgraded the electronics with a wiring harness from KiOgon, put a pair of Entwistle JBXN pickups in and Tim from Scatch-It! (http://www.originalscratchplates.com/) supplied the scratchplate courtesy of me winning a prize draw I've also levelled, dressed and crowned the frets and popped a set of Elixir steel strings on it.
6. I liked the Angry Badgers before they were cool
7. I love my modified Squier VM jazz and I wear the Squier badge proudly! Never be ashamed of a good cheap bass but like Discreet says, no one notices. But feeling good about a bass is important so enjoy your creation
8. If someone has a Snickers to sell could you tell me what the width at the nut is please?
9. People's willingness to believe = the amount of cash they just wasted on something.
10. It looks Rob T playing bass with a bunch of Metallica impersonators! They've fallen from grace massively for me I'm afraid. However, I am a fan of Mr. T. especially after seeing him play on the Warwick bus video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cculEd0n49c
11.
That's the point, when you go to a Pub, You don't want to do safely.... You wan't a big debauched tear up, otherwise it ain't Rock & Roll. Safely means Country & Western, leading to a walk out.
Ah, gotcha! Well I've been told my bass playing never stands up so now neither shall my bass.
12. Yet they still use cheap-looking plastic knobs! That's the only thing that put me off buying one of the SR1600 series.
13. The pickups are a bit high in my Squier jazz. They're pretty much sat all the way down and they're only just slightly too high for my liking. If I dig in really hard on the E string the magnetic field will catch the string and it'll plonk right onto the pickup. That's only if I whack it though so I think it'll be ok.

Mac vs pc

If you end up going with the iPad then definitely go for the Mac as they should work well together. Apple products don't play nice with others.
15. 19mm at the bridge (same for 4 strings and 5 strings) according to the scan of an old SGC Nanyo brochure that I have. 46mm width at the nut too. 21mm neck depth at the first fret.
16. I only use the very much cut down Komplete Elements and there's still a tonne of stuff in there. I'd love Komplete 10 but I have several products already and it's a bit pricey for the use I'd make of it. I'd love Absynth and Reflektor though. Hmm, maybe I'll find it on a massive sale sometime in the future if I'm lucky!
17. I use EZDrummer 2 and tend to use a bit of both methods. In EZD2 you choose a drum kit with a range of presets rather than select a kit then add on the effects settings if you know what I mean. Bit of a pain as I'd much rather separate out the raw drum kits from the presets. I'll then select the "build multi-channel routing for output of selected FX" option in Reaper and it chucks each of the drum channels onto separate tracks. I can then pop any effects onto those individually. Mostly it'll be side-chain compressing between the kick drum and bass. If I want any overall ambiance/room effects that will affect the whole kit I find it easier to do that in the EZD interface.
18.
If I see a band using them, I just walk out...
How come? Surely they're just making sure their guitars are stood up safely?
19.
Are you saying that in a Sean Connery accent?
Is there any other accent that could possibly be used to describe a CAR jazz with a black scratchplate, maple neck and black block inlays?
20. I have a candy apple red Squier jazz with a black plate, maple neck and black block inlays that looks rather shexy. Pic:
21. Take a look at Cockos Reaper too. Fantastic functionality and fully functional demo. Cheap licence (around £40 or so) and loved by many
22. I have the Focusrite Forte and the sound (preamps and output) is excellent. Gear4Music have it on sale at a bargainous £200 too: http://www.gear4music.com/Recording-and-Computers/Focusrite-Forte-2in-4out-USB-20-Audio-Interface-for-Mac-and-PC/MQJ
23. I have an identical SB320
24. Good call mate
