3. OK, for sale is my Trace 1048H 4x10 Cab Its a great sounding piece of gear and has been completely reliable for the last 3 years but since my band has decided to call it a day, the gigs i'm doing now don't require a cab as big or loud as this. Full specs from TE website below. Cab itself has been gigged regularly but is in very good condition, the cover however has seen some battle damage and is frayed at corners. Weight according to TE website is 36 kilograms. Photos available on request I'm happy to drive halfway to deliver this. I'm asking a firm £350

800 Watts RMS, 8 Ohms.
Four 10" (254mm) specially designed Celestion® speakers.
High frequency horn with variable attenuation.
Two Neutrik® Speakon® and two 1/4" (6.35mm) jack connectors.
Cabinet tuned, with central unobstructed slots, to 40Hz.
Lightweight poplar plywood construction.
Original classy black 'pimple' covered.
Metal handles and protective corners.
4. you might be better served picking a bass, sticking with it and practising a little more as opposed to spending your time chopping and changing your gear....what will a kingbass enable you to achieve that your current basses wont?
5. my main bass. 97 streamer LX, wenge neck and board, solid flame maple body, duncan pickups, east U-retro pre. the only thing i would change is making it 33" scale rather than 34"
6. for me its between Scott lafaro, ray brown and the legend that is john patitucci
7. Hey Bilbo, sure not a problem. PM me you email and i'll do my best to email it to you on friday once the ship im on is back in Miami (internet on the ship while at sea is sporadic at best and hardly ever works when i try to connect on my laptop). If i have to stay on the ship then, i'll get it to you ASAP. If anyone else has the same problem of PDF size PM me your email address and i'll email you the PDF ASAP
8. Happy Christmas from the sunny caribbean!!! Here is my transcription of John Patitucci's "Heart of the Bass", title track of said same CD. Its one of the most beautiful solo bass pieces ive ever heard, and i've finally finished my transcription of it. The improvised solo towards the end of the piece isnt transcribed all exactly in time as per the recording. the phrases are all transcribed as reference points for when the looped figure is playing. Everything else is more or less correct (I think!!) Check out the recording of the piece on spotify, its one of the most gorgeous pieces in the bass repertoire. 9. DR Highbeams. They sound and feel great and they seem to work especially well with the Seymour Duncan's in my warwick
10. She's an absolute stunner Shep. really glad the shorter scale and E-C has worked out for you and gotten around the muscle/tendon/pain issues
11. Jaw = Floor...... Wow!! thats stunning Shep, thats one of the nicest buckeye basses ive ever seen! soundclips when she arrives please!!!
12.
That Aristocrats stuff is fantastic, thanks for putting it up!
Even better live, i caught their show in Manchester earlier in the year, the best band ive ever seen. Guthrie, Bryan Beller and Marco are all absolute monster players. Among the very best in the world without a shadow of doubt
13. That Billy Cobham video is fantastic!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKGl4gjoO9A&feature=related Only recently discovered Alex Machacek, great guitar player. For those into music based around improvisation check out the CD 'Improvisation' featuring Machacek, Matthew Garrison and Jeff Sipe. Its heavy listening but the standard of playing is off this planet http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S7oQPCmbWA8&feature=fvwrel
14. Warwick offer thru-neck and exotic tops too, some of the examples in the custom shop gallery are jaw dropping. More to the point they offer superb build quality, fit and finishing. They are expensive, but you get german build quality. Ive yet to see a warwick thats anything less than beautifully put together BIG props for their customer service too. Im not the original owner of my bass but when i emailed them with a few queries regarding maintenance i had a comprehensive response within 24hrs. Couldnt have asked for more from them
15. Wish i was going i found out she was playing too late to get tickets
16. If you have a 6 string, try john patitucci's Tone Poem
17. Shes a beauty!!
I've been promising to do some for ages, may as well wait for bass 3 to appear later this year and then pull the finger out... Eude
Hold fire.....bass 3 Eude?? do tell....
18. Our resident bass wizard scott devine also talks about them on here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6z2JWMwooQ
19. My old tutor Ollie Collins uses that set up at the moment and he says its one of the best rigs he's ever used. Tried it myself in a lesson and tho same cabs with my trace head and they are brilliant...as soon as i get back from my cruise contract i'll be selling my trace cab and buying a pair of Vanderkley 1x12s

22. Another gig plug! I'm playing 2 lunchtime gigs at the Bridgewater Hall cafe in Manchester city centre, 5 minutes walk from Picadilly Station/Gardens. Both gigs are free entry and both start at 12:45 The first is a jazz/fusion set performed by the KAB Trio (10th of October). Its a similar set to that we played at the Manchester Jazz festival, a mixture of instrumental tunes and some vocals featuring our wonderful keys player Kim Wellens. She's a brilliant pianist and vocalist so please come and watch if you're available The KAB trio can be heard on mine and Kim's soundcloud pages http://soundcloud.com/kim-wellens http://soundcloud.com/funkypenguin-1 The second gig is a soul/funk set featuring Yasmin and the Wild things, who can be heard on youtube! Its my friend Yasmin's first project as a band leader so support is much appreciated this gig is on the 25th of October Please come say hello if you do come along
23. Are you teaching them harmony or music theory as a whole (melodic dictation, treble/tenor/alto clef etc)? If you're teaching them harmony i would recommend they take the time to look at the Mark Levine book. It was a compulsory purchase for our whole Harmony/Composition class at salford and alot of my classmates that arnt that into jazz music found it really useful. Alot of the progressions/concepts in there are applicable to most pop/rock music (major/minor II-V-I, I-VI-II-V etc.). Its a brilliant resource If you really dont want to give them a Jazz book i would recommend A Geometry of Music. heres a link http://www.amazon.com/Geometry-Music-Counterpoint-Extended-Practice/dp/0195336674/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1349103429&sr=1-2&keywords=Music+Harmony
