1. Good Afternoon all, For sale is my Trace Elliot 1048 4x10 cabinet. The cabinet itself is in very good condition but the cover has some battle damage on the corners. I haven't used it in some time but i plugged it in a couple of days ago and it is all in good order. This was my main gigging cabinet for around 4 years and i've never had any sort of problem with it, its been 100% reliable and as punchy as any 4x10 i've ever played through. I switched to Vanderkley 1x12s mainly because they are far more portable and more suitable for jazz gigs. Its now taking up alot of space and needs to go. Full specs for the cabinet are below 800w at 8ohms 4 x 10inch celestion speakers High frequency variable horn 1/4inch and speakon inputs (also outputs to daisy chain other cabinets) Cabinet tuned to 40hz Front ported Weight = 36kg Cover (some damage to corners) included No Trades, cash or bank transfer only. Shipping is at buyers expense, with something this heavy, pickup is preferred though I can deliver around Yorkshire and to some parts of Manchester. I will upload pictures later on this evening. Shoot me a PM if you need any more information. Thanks all, Ben
2.
Hi Ben, Could you explain more about the control knobs? Cheers
Sure thing! The control closest to the bridge is a stacked volume and pickup pan. Moving clockwise you have a passive tone control. Then a stacked mid and mid frequency, then a stacked bass and treble. The switch is a coil tap for the MM pickup, parallel, single coil and series. There is also a push/pull on the tone roll off to switch to passive mode, and a push pull on the treble pot for a "bright boost". The passive part of the circuit is also engaged in active mode so the tone rolloff is fantastic for removing some of the brightness without losing the definition. I'm going to post some recordings of the bass ASAP
3. Good evening all, For sale is my 2008 warwick streamer jazzman 5. I'm the second owner of this bass and due to me saving for a deposit for a flat with my other half, i'm having a clearout of gear i don't use that much. This bass has the thicker 2000's neck profile which i've found i don't particularly like (hence i don't play it that often) but other than this its an excellent instrument. I had the preamp changed to an East U-Retro deluxe to match my Warwick 6 string, which cost around £280 including the install (done by Jack Ellis in Manchester). PRICE REDUCED TO £800 Full specs are as follows Model: Streamer Jazzman 5 Neck Wood: Ovangkol Fingerboard Wood: Wenge Scale Length: 34" Frets: 24 Body Wood: Swamp Ash Topwood: Flame Maple Finish: French Violet Pickups: MEC MM (coil tap for series, parallel and single coil) and MEC J Preamp: East U-Retro Deluxe Custom Options: Saturn inlays and matching headstock. Preamp is aftermarket along with separate battery box. This modification was done by Jack Ellis of Jack's Instrument Services in manchester and is a top quality installation. The bass is currently strung with a fairly fresh set of DR High Beam strings (130-45) There is some buckle rash along the bottom of the body of the bass from the original owner, as can be seen in the photos. Bass comes with a fitted aluminium warwick flight case, comfort strapp, manual and warwick servicing kit. Price is reduced to £800. Cash or bank transfer only, NO TRADES. Pickup is preferred (i can deliver around the yorkshire area and to some parts of Manchester) but will ship at buyers expense. Shoot me a PM if you need any more information! Thanks all, Ben
4. Hey Guys Here is my transcription of Hadrien's solo from Dean Brown's "Santo Para Mim". Its the first solo of Hadrien's that i've really enjoyed listening to and there's some really lovely language in it (I love the double stop section). Some of the fastest sections are approximate but more or less accurate. The solo is from 6:02 - 7:14 Enjoy Ben [attachment=181392:Santo Para Mim (H. 5. IMHO Johns preamps are the best on the market, the U-Retro completely transformed my Warwick streamer. And his after sales service is second to none!!
6. I use DR Hi-Beams on both my warwicks (both fitted with East Preamps) and they sound great
7. Cheers bud I've a few more transcriptions in the works in a similar vein, check them out when they go up!
8. D'Angelo is awesome I know it isn't with Pino on bass but i just posted a transcription of 'Cant Hide Love' from the Jazz Cafe concert in theory and technique, some of you might enjoy it, its a killer recording http://basschat.co.uk/topic/235976-dangelo-cant-hide-love-transcription/page__pid__2440576#entry2440576
9. Easy guys, This is my transcription of D'Angelo's 'Cant Hide Love' from the Live At The Jazz Cafe recording. There are one or two fills that i borrowed from an absolutely epic bass playalong i saw on youtube (which annoyingly i now can't find!!) but other than that its as per the record. This concert features Jerry Brooks on bass. (note - I'm fairly sure the harmony is correct, its what we used on the ship and it sounded right, but if anyone thinks otherwise let me know!) Hope you enjoy it Cheers! Ben
10. have you gone for the overwater preamp rather than the East devine circuit? looks absolutely gorgeous!!
11. That new preamp sounds awesome mike, lovely sweet mids and top end, great playing too!! I had a similar experience when i had the East circuit put in my warwick
12. If you love your warwick, then stick with it. As Scott explains in the video above, so much of the sound is down to the player, not the instrument
13. May end up doing an extra cruise contract at this rate to fund it having said that i got my warwick back from Jack Ellis' shop today and after his advanced setup it plays better than ever...argh!!
14. why on earth are you looking to trade/sell this if its your dream instrument??
15. Owen, are those tickets for the Manc gig still available??
16. WOW! that top really is something else! I'm taken back to a conversation i had with martin at the NE bash....have to start saving soon....
17. Another lovely example of Jon's work!
