Someone asked me if I used a 400+ at a gig at the weekend as he couldn't see my rig from the back of the venue ....... Orange Terror Bass 500 with Sovtek valves and a Barefaced Super Twelve! Go figure?

So, in small venues the sound it thrown at the back of your head instead of your knees and you can hear yourself better.

I want one for my S12 - I check the BF website every week to see if it's available and it isn't and that makes me sad .......... then I look as my S12 and that makes me happy again!

That sounds bad mate I'd try your luck direct with Orange - they could only say no. Wouldn't mention the warranty - play dumb and see what occurs. Touch wood (*touches head*) mines been OK and love the little sod - used it at an open air gig the weekend and it got a bit of rain on it but, still worked! All the best in sorting it mate and keep us posted.

I had an SVT3Pro with the HLF410 for 6 years - Super 12 arrived and the SVT was replaced within 2 months. I'm not sure why the pairing doesn't cut it but, I've now got an Orange TB500 and the sound is righteous!

I wish this bass wasn't a Spector - I feel like it's belittling a manufacturer of some of the best basses I've ever played! Budget/China/Korea/Czech - Spector basses are great. I leaned to set up my basses, with practice/patience/persistance I find it theraputic and ultimately rewarding. Take the time to learn the skill. If not - I'll swap my Tokai TB48 for your Spector - it's already set up!

Glad that worked out mate, and thanks for reporting back - I've not slept a wink since you posted about the problem! Re: the 18w guitar amp. One the the guitarists in my band has a USA built Rockaforte 18w Class A amp - its stupid loud and the tones are righteous. I really don't know how all that shenanigans work ... It's witchcraft I tell thee!

Before I got OTB500 I got a big scared about the DI 'issue' so, I got a -20db attenuator off've eBay for a fiver - never used it! I did swop out the JJ's it came with (which was a suprise!) for some old Sovteks to calm it down a bit. 10 screws and a few twists of the valve covers, done in 5 mins. It is an amazing bit of kit, although the rest of the band call it the Toaster! :-/

Super Twelve all the way. A righteous pairing! (Alex will be pleased I sold my SVT3Pro!) The settings shown are what I use live - without a PA - Vol & Gain only @ 9'Oclock and the S12 has the headroom to take it all the way up.

I've got a Rex & a Legend and love them. If in doubt - try one out!
